Rusting after a year – I bought this just over a year ago, so it's fairly new. I fold the arms when not in use and every 6 months I remove it from the ground socket and clean the post so it doesn't seize up. I'm using it as intended but the coating scratches easily and can chip, then the exposed metal will rust. The bottom where it sits in the socket is the worst.… Read more
Hardly 'rust resistant' as advertised. It will eventually rust. Shame as I actually like the clothesline overall, except it would have been better if the lines were spaced more as they are too close together.

Buyer Beware: Hills Hoist 8 Line Rotary Clothesline – Bought Hills Hoist Clothesline through online store theClotheslinestore.com.au on 17th January 2020. Prior to this I'd a similar Hills line but the strings had come off in certain areas and top parts damaged and thought it was time to replace. The old one had been there since moving into the house and that will be six years of usage until decision… Read more
to change in 2020. Long story short, the replacement occurred in 2020, same socket size etc with old one. It appeared logical to fit new post into old socket (already buried in concrete) given both had Hills badge and socket had all the features looking same. I read reviews before purchase and Hills product were indicated as good and with my experience with existing one I thought it was all good product to be left in the weather elements. I was wrong given that it wobbled and got bent around the tip side of socket during times of strong winds in my location in 2021. It finally rusted badly inside and fell off by itself one day from the top side of the old buried socket. When I went back to purchaser with the issue for warranty, I was told water in the socket caused the rust and also the post installation should have occurred with the new socket in place to allow for free water drainage. My advice to potential buyers is to be aware that not all Hills products can stand the weather elements even if they look the same. It's also baffling that a Clothesline is designed not to be in the elements where it's almost likely pool of rain water is possible in water logged areas and not every area will have free and quick drain of underground water. Also, if the old one had been there for years until the house was bought by us, what's so different from this new one that within a year, it's cowed to the very weather elements where dry lines are supposed to be fitted. It tells me it's not a good product and I've lost $346, the purchase price. Very disappointing but I indicated to the purchaser I'll warn potential purchasers of this product. You buy this if you've a freely draining area and your area is not subjected to any strong wind. In my view, this product is not fit for the intended purpose. Photos attached below. The old one is the green standing.

Awesome customer service – Thanks Hills. I have had my hills rotary 8 for about 7 years, when one of the arms snapped I didn't expect to have the replacement honoured, as I didn't have a receipt. I emailed them with pictures of my clothes line and a picture of the instruction booklet from April 2012. They emailed back saying they were sending a replacement which arrived within a few days of the email. Fantastic customer service, thank you hills.
They stand by their warranty – I would just like to say that hills stand by their warranty. Our rotary started to break down due to sun exposure. It was around 6/ 7 years old. I didnt keep receipt or manual. I didnt think i needed it as i have never had to replace one in the past. After emailing hills some photos of what was happening to my rotary line they had no hesitation… Read more
of replacing it with a new one. This is good pr for a company.
It was sent by courier to south australia within 3days. Very prompt.
There is a 10 year warranty with their lines but i never had receipt. That is trust on their behave.
Not the sort of company you can trust – Have experienced the worst service ever in terms of honouring promises with this mob. Fascinated to read other reviews that say much the same. Be wary of any purchase with Hills if you expect them to deliver on product promises.
Hills Customer Service – Hi I had a couple of Hills rotary hoists that failed, possibly of because where I live in the country, but hey you expect to dry your clothes on windy days with the clothesline spinning. To Hills credit they replaced my fold up clothesline with a fixed arm line at no cost under their warranty. Fixed arm unit installed and I couldn't be… Read more · 1
happier. It's bullet proof and Hills really stand behind their products, even if I maybe made a poor choice on the original product.
I cannot fault the follow up from Hills senior management to ensure that i was satisfied.
I might have chosen the wrong product initially but Hills stood by their product and ensured that I was satisfied.
Great company and great customer service.
