Quality picture fantastic – Great deal. Great value. Quality picture. Completely happy. Would recommend it... and would consider this brand with top 3... Hisense is a brand I would not hesitate to buy again. Show details
Hisense Dumb TV – It is a very painful tv to use on the internet. The Opera browser and the onscreen key board are painfully slow. When watching anything involving video the tv always goes into a buffering freeze. The only way to rectify it is to turn off the power for 10 seconds. At times the tv will switch to tv mode without any input. It Has been factory… Read more
reset, retuned etc. It pixelates badly when watching terrestrial TV. Motherboard and WiFi cards were replaced under warranty after nearly six months of remedies and inaction from Hisense. Made no difference. Now they blame my ISP and NBN. Also asked how many devices do we have connected to our home network and said that five was too many. Only ever connect the TV on its own and it is connected by Ethernet cable. I asked for refund and they said that the will credit the Good Guys store of purchase after getting all the details. Get to the store to find they hadn't. Good Guys Northland mucked me around for over an hour and refused to give me a refund as I am entitled to under consumer Law. They will only refund if Hisense credit them. They want their money first so they're not out of pocket but the customer can be. Now they are only offering a repair. Hisense are no longer offering a credit to the store. Will never buy any Hisense product again not shop at the Good Guys Northland. Spoke to Consumer Affairs and they said they can't make The Good Guys refund. Aren't they the department that is suppose to enforce the Consumer Laws? They suggested sending emails to the Good Guys Northland and Head Office and also to Hisense Australia. If no joy then off to VCAT. What a waste of time and effort. PS. It sat in the box unused for 4 months after I bought it.
Love the picture quality – I looked at tv’s for quite some time and to be honest I wasn’t sure on hisense because I didn’t know much about them. A friend of mine had recently got one prior to me getting one and watching tv at there’s I was quite impressed and sold on getting one myself being the quality of the picture and sound and was Really good. easy to use and the price was far cheaper than Samsung and Sony or LG and the 3 year in home warranty sealed the deal Show details
BEWARE- APPS will be Useless – Bought this 55” tv from Good Guys chadstone. Did well for a year but after a while YOuTube & Netflix froze, got on call with Hisense customer service & they advised factory reset which was done twice or thrice but no result then customer service guy came up with a shocker and advised me to contact YouTube ( yes 100% true) to fix the problem.… Read more
Haven’t encountered more rude customer service than Hisense team. Please avoid as now I am stuck with a namesake SMART TV. Basically Hisense is refusing to take responsibility of their own manufactured product
A great TV for cheap – When buying an unknown brand of TV you are a little skeptical as you don't know if they are going to work or be up to the standard you think. This Hisense is brilliant. The screen is nice and sharp, the resolution is great and the colours a very vivid. The speakers are loud, but if you want stereo you probably will get a spreader system. The smart TV aspect goes unused for me as I think its slow and choppy. Overall a good TV for the price. Show details
Affordable and excellent resolution – The picture quality is mint - clear and does not lag. Speakers are good but can be improved especially in a noisy atmosphere it tends to be quite low. The sound quality is good though, very clear. More than enough ports to connect other devices. Operating system is good but sometimes a bit slow when switching to youtube or hdmi. it will be good to add external features such as rotating screen 45 degrees to make it convenient Show details
Good color, but slow response – This TV has great brightness and color. 4K High Definition. Smart TV by using Opera TV OS, now called VEWD TV system. Not very popular, not much app as well. It support YouTube and some other online TV. Local network only support DLNA, Not support SMB file or other network share. Remote control some time have very slow response time. Particular when network is disconnected, weird problem. Show details
TV – Great value for money. Good picture quality. Great sound from speakers. Yes the TV has enough ports. It’s a 55inch smart TV with a good operating system. Can use the internet and Facebook on this TV. Love the Freeview and iview plus SBS on demand. I would recommend this TV to my friends and family. It’s just as good as the more expensive brands and it came with a 3 year warranty which is great. Show details
Great for the price – Great value TV, good picture quality, and the sound is good. We use soundbars with our other two tv's but are quite happy with the inbuilt speakers on this Hisense TV. EPG is annoying as it doesn't load the whole program info until you've clicked on a couple of different channels. The actual format of the EPG is great so it's a shame that it doesn't load properly. Easy features – We Bought this as a present for my mother, who isn't very tech savvy. Found it easy to use, picture quality fine and different options for sound quality that suited her needs, and it was a great price considering what we paid for our smart to a few years ago. Shop were very helpful in recommending this tv Show details
Dream television! – Finally upgraded to one of the latest models of television. Love the modern look and thinness of the unit. Easy to operate. We have Foxtel installed as well as having instant access to Netflix and Stan. So many extra features that I am still finding new things to look at! Picture is so clear and sound is amazing! Know better, choose better.
Brilliant budget TV with great picture and UI – After having two, $2.5K tier 1 brand TVs die shortly after warranty I simply wasn't spending more than I had to. I looked at a few of the less expensive brands and decided to go with the Hisense Full HD TV over the same branded 4K because we don't have NBN or an internet connection that can deliver the 25 Mbps needed to stream Netflix or YouTube… Read more

The picture is very clear and the upscaling on lower quality movies and TV broadcasts is excellent. The user interface is clear and simple and the quality seen on higher end units. The remote has direct entry buttons for Netflix and YouTube and is well layed out. The EPG is also well defined and simple and has Freeview Plus. Plenty of customisation available for renaming channels and input labels etc.
Lastly the price was fantastic. Easily 3-4 hundred cheaper than other models that had no greater functionality or quality as far as I could see.
Good purchase – Picked this up from Harvey Norman to replace our old Dick Smith one that had a backlight failure. Overall very impressed Picture Quality - The picture quality is pretty good apart from a slight issue where the colors tend to wash out when viewed from an angle greater than about 45 degrees off center, it is small, but noticeable. Lots of… Read more
options to configure colors, contrast, aspect ratio, etc.
Built in speakers - Don't know, we used the headphone plug to use a 2.1 speaker system, works great.
Connections - Onboard Wifi is great. 3 HDMI ports is plenty for what we needed as well as live TV. Easy to edit/change the names of the connections as well instead of having HDMI1 we can have "Computer". Anycast is great so you can watch videos/photos from your mobile phone (android)/tablet but seems to have issues with computers.
Smart Features - Actually pretty cool. The Youtube app is great as it can play a playlist of music videos from youtube, and they play in HD! So much cheaper than putting V-Hits from Foxtel on, and the quality is better than Foxtel as well! Other apps like SBS-HD are also great addition. Youtube button on remote. Has a built in internet browser.
Netflix - Didn't use as we don't have a subscription.
USB/External hard drive - Haven't tried playing using videos/pictures on external USB drives
Firmware - Updates automatically or can be provided on request from Hisense.
Power buttons - On back of unit which great to discourage young hands that like to push buttons.
Disappointments
- All the TV menus are quite slow and often take seconds or more to respond to the remote.
- Colors tend to wash out when viewed from an angle greater than about 45 degrees off center, very slight, but noticable
- Some of the smart apps appear to "freeze", some even don't work the first time requiring you to exit and retry.
- Anycast doesn't seem to work properly when used from Windows 10, unsure if Windows 10 or TV issue.
- Manual not included in box but can be found on Hisense website.
- Power cord is 2 prong AC. Would have been nice to have a 3 prong with a proper earth.
Better than thought – I am so glad I bought my Hisense 55' Smart TV, its way better than i imagine it be, so many things it can do, even look up the weather in my area, has free view and many channels. it has great visions and has stan and netflixs, freeview and easy to use, the list go on
They really need to hire UI designers! – I've only had the TV for 24 hours, so this is just a review of immediately-obvious findings - I'll get back here in a few days/weeks once I've gotten a full feel for it. 1. Physical design is sexy, even though I would've far preferred it if it had a pedestal base rather than the "spread-eagled" feet (I appreciate this is due to price, but it… Read more
surely wouldn't have cost them more than $10 at the factory to incorporate a pedestal base).
2. Picture quality is fantastic, even though 55" is really pushing it for FHD. Thankfully my eyesight isn't as good as it once was, so I'm quite happy.
3. Sound quality and volume is pathetic. Once again this is obviously the result of cost-cutting, but is saving $5-$10 at the manufacturing level really worth it? Apparently all the TV manufacturers are providing crappy speakers these days (even the "high end" Sony/Panasonic/Samsung/LG TVs), which is a sad trend. The sound processing though is very good, so using external powered speakers (or a "sound bar") yields great results.
4. I didn't need a TV with "smart" features, so am not entirely miffed by the features (or lack thereof) of that side of the user interface, but I am miffed at the amount of time any menu option takes to come onto the screen. Pressing the SETTINGS button on the remote, for example, brings up a "waiting" icon in the middle of the screen and takes up to five seconds to bring the settings screen up.
5. The remote control is abysmal. Buttons for all the features I don't want, but no buttons for the features I need. If I wanted to access Netflix or YouTube, I'd be happy to run through a sequence of buttons to get to them. This remote has dedicated large buttons for those two apps, but lacks buttons for "return" and "sleep."
There is no way to return to the previous channel you were watching, so if you want to flick between two channels (for example, watching the news whilst waiting for a show to start on another channel, or watching a movie and wanting to check the sports results), you need to remember which channel you were watching then manually type it back in after you've checked the other channel.
"Sleep" should be an easily-accessible option on the remote so you can tap it when you're about to nod off, safe in the knowledge that your TV won't be running all night. Not so on this TV - you need to bring up the settings menu, then the system settings, then the time settings, then scroll to the bottom of the page and select how long you want it to remain awake for. On every other TV I've had in the past two decades, it was a simple matter of pressing the sleep button on the remote several times to cycle through the duration or disable it.
6. Its DLNA player is very good - finds my DLNA server in an instant and navigating through folders is very quick. BUT...
If you exit DLNA mode (to check what's on TV, for example), it won't remember which directory/file you were on previously when you return to DLNA mode - you have to start from the beginning (the root folder) and work your way through, hoping you haven't forgotten which file you were viewing. Similarly, it doesn't seem to remember where you were up to in a video file, so if you were half-way through a movie, you'll have to fast-forward to that spot from the beginning.
It ignores the aspect ratio when playing files through DLNA. As an example, I've just watched an episode of MASH - which is 4:3 aspect - and it forces it to display in "wide" mode (yes, Alan Alda looks healthier when he's stretched horizontally, but it's seriously irritating). Bringing up the settings screen, the aspect ratio option can't even be accessed to correct it.
EDIT: It is actually possible to change the aspect ratio of videos being played through DLNA, but not using the normal TV settings - you need to go to the options icon at the bottom of the playing video and change the setting there. Problem is though, this change is only temporary and the next video you open (or the next time you open the same video) will still be stretched to full-screen :-/
All in all, given its size, picture quality and price, I'd give this TV a rating of "tolerable" - I'm sure I'll learn to live with its inadequacies and annoyances, but if faced with a purchasing decision again, I definitely wouldn't buying this model (or any TV in this series). Other people may have different expectations/needs in a TV so for them this unit might be perfect, but it's not my ideal choice.
BTW, if anyone wants the full owner's manual for any of the 3110PW series of TVs, it's available for download from HiSense's web site here;

UPDATE after approximately six months of use...
The very convoluted method of accessing the sleep function is a major pain, to the point where I've been contemplating the purchase of an intelligent remote control ($200+) to send an "off" signal to the TV after a certain amount of time.
To compound this, the menu system is lethargic to the extreme. People think I'm joking when I say it takes 5-10 seconds for the menu screen to come up after pressing the button - until they see it in action.
All in all, if I was to be facing a similar purchase today (and armed with the knowledge I now have), I'd purchase a "dumb" TV and invest ~$100 in an Android TV box to take care of the "smarts." In my opinion, this would be a far more usable solution at a similar price, with much less stress involved. I'd still very likely be buying a Hisense though, as I believe they do have the best display panels among the budget brands.
Not fit for purpose – NOTE: It's possible we were sold a faulty unit. Setup: Hisense TV, Onkyo 6.1 AMP, FetchTV, Sony BR, Apple TV/Google Chromecast2. HDMI 1.4 cables & high quality optical cable from TV to amp. **Hisense Firmware update from TV does not work.** We weren't told this in the store. Incompetent Support - emailed a link for a Lenovo website and… Read more
the link was dead. Once I did get a link, after 10 days of having the TV - I didn't get the full instructions. Hisense don't have ANY of their firmware on their website. The only way to get it is to jump through the hoops I have. Not very impressive. ALL other major TV companies have the firmware on their website, available to the public.
**Smart TV Function is not fit for purpose**
The Opera system Hisense use for their Smart TV is utterly appalling. It is slow and clunky and quite frequently crashes. Many times I would try and access a menu and it would be blank. I would literally have to turn off the TV quite often at the mains to get the menus to come back up.
PLEX - The PLEX app was impossible to use. Not fit for purpose. But my Chromecasts would play the same content or stream without issue.
Youtube - was slow but seemed to work, as long as I stuck to low quality videos; as soon as I tried to play anything above 576i it would freeze and take forever to load.
I didn't test Netflix.
The media player of VERY poor quality and struggled with quite a few formats, including mkv and m4v files. If running off USB the latency would be minor but irritating, with the picture dropping behind on larger files 3-4 times per movie.
Old networking technology - The TV has old tech in it, with 100MB LAN and only 802.11n wireless. So the speeds were the same ~100Mbps. There is no 5Ghz ability on this TV.
Picture - Picture quality can be quite poor where it was good before. BR picture quality seems fine but DVD is poorer than before.
Audio - was quite variable. I would be interested to find out what audio processor or converter they are using as I suspect it is a cheap and nasty one.
Final note: Without being able to update the TV's firmware this really did make certain aspects of the TV unusable. Why have Smart TV functions and third party apps if they don't work? It's a waste of our time and effort.
Pros
1. Long warranty of 3 years. But it might take you one of those years to get it set up correctly.
2. Cheaper than other FullHD 55" TVs.
3. Netflix and Youtube buttons on remote
Cons
1. Smart TV function is not fit for purpose
2. Shameful support services
3. Firmware update function DOES NOT WORK from TV
4. USB firmware update function DOES NOT WORK
5. No firmware available to public.
6. Poor quality, possibly faulty, wireless card. Only 802.11n? In 2016? Really?
7. Only 100MB LAN connection. In 2016? Really?
8. Only 3 HDMI ports.
9. Poor picture quality in most mediums
10. Variable audio quality and volume across multiple connections
11. Confusing remote
12. IR remote
13. Only 3 HDMI ports but it includes composite connections. Why? This isn't the 90's.
14. USB ports are difficult to access and very stiff.
15. IR sensor is not in the middle of the TV.
16. Quick guide is 6 pages of A5 paper; the manual: FOUR PAGES!! Average Samsung or LG manual is 100+ pages long.
Things you should know – The picture is amazing, no question. The sound system has plenty of tweaks available and is better than previous flat panels I have had but of course we still would like a woofer which is not going to happen unless we buy a sound-bar, so why don't these units come with one! Everyone knows these systems need more bass. A great selling point for… Read more
me is the 3 year warranty and after you phone in to register your purchase, you get In Home Warranty, not bad hey?
No where in my researching this unit did I see any mention of INBUILT WIFI. The blurb said you can "connect with WIFI or the built in Ethernet port". The guy at Hisense did not know that the unit has built in WIFI, and it is amazing, it connected so easily and quickly to my modem. What a pity I did not know it was already built in, it would have saved me buying a WIFI Adapter in advance of delivery . . . he apologized, I still have a useless Adapter.
The TV has Timeshift and PVR as long as you have external USB Storage which is fine except that while it is recording something you cannot change the channel because it only has one tuner. At this time I can't find a way to start recording something immediately (other than scheduled), unless you use timeshift. TVs are pushing the idea of PVRs but they usually only have one tuner so a bit useless unless you are away from the set. Fortunately I have Fetch with 3 tuners.
With the inclusion of Freeview Plus, the unit has basically three EPG systems and all are painfully slow to load and the main EPG requires clicking 2, 3, 7, 9 10 and all the rest to get it to populate the readout, that is ok until you turn the unit off.
As for the Channel List EPG, it loads quicker but the info is usually wrong because it is the previous program showing until you click to go there and find it is not what was displayed, then it updates. Freeview works ok but takes ages to load.
And now the thing I am really annoyed about. The Previous Channel option does not exist and Hisense told me that "no we don't have that on our units". Well hello . . . is this 2016, if you can live without it, good for you, but I am seriously thinking of taking the unit back because of this inexcusable oversight. Even my wife finds it annoying. If you are watching something and want to check the footy score for example, when you go to the footy you can't go back until you remember which channel you were on and then punch in the appropriate number or search the EPG . . can you believe that??
Perhaps Hisense can include this in a future update.
Finally, as if you haven't had enough, If you have a corner TV cabinet, good luck fitting the unit on it because the feet are almost at the extremities of the screen and angled in a strange way.
Even though HN had a display unit running, the things I mention are not really things you can think to check for in a noisy store. I got a good deal and am really disappointed with the lack of Back Button, the rest I will get used to.
