The image quality of this TV is good, and there are options for setting it to different picture styles - Cinema, Filmmaker Mode etc to adjust the picture quality depending on what you are watching. That’s the main strength of this TV. Its biggest weakness for a Smart TV is that it runs on Hisense’s VIDAA operating system, which offers only a very… Read more

limited range of apps beyond the main streaming services like Netflix, Disney+, YouTube, and the main TV on demand channels - no Spotify, no Kanopy, no Hoopla, and only a choice of 2 free internet radio apps that provide a limited range of intenet stations. You want more than this from a Smart TV these days. It does have is own free VIDAA TV channels - featuring shows no one would ever watch (unless you’re a big soccer fan.) The built in speakers are low quality - as you’d expect in that price range, but there is Bluetooth connectivity to connect to a Bluetooth speaker or soundbar, or you can connect it to a stereo system via the headphones outlet or Optical (TOSLINK). However the volume controller on the remote won’t work on the Optical output, so then you have to manually adjust the volume on your amplifier - and that’s just poor engineering. One of the most annoying features of the TV is that the video play controls for streaming media are not on the remote - you press a button on the remote and the video play controls appear in a circle on the TV screen - but they take a lot of practice to use, as it’s easy to click on the Stop button in the centre of the circle when you only meant to pause the video and that closes the video and you have to log back into it again to continue watching. Whoever thought that one up obviously didn’t try using it. One feature of the VIDAA system that might suit some users is that you can access a very large digital art collection and have a selection of art displayed on the screen -this might be nice if you have your TV up on a wall and want to have an art display on show when not watching TV. The remote also has voice control, so you can say “Play Channel 20” instead of pressing the buttons on the remote, or can ask YouTube to find and play a certain video, though it’s not a feature I have found much use for. In summary, if you want a TV that has good picture quality and has the most common video streaming apps installed and you don’t mind having an impractical video play control function, this TV would be OK. But if you wanted a far better range of apps, buy a TV with the Samsung Tizen OS or Android operating system instead.

I have had no reply from numerous emails to Hisense regarding my brand new tv and a cosmetic defect it has. If you are looking for warranty or aftersales support do not buy a Hisense it's no existent I do not recommend.

We purchased from Hisense Tv previously and it been great for us, the kids use it daily and no issue. From that we decided to replace our old LG smart TV, the price was very cheap $680 from Retravision (it was 20% off over the weekend and 5% for RAC members). The 55 inch is light and fit easily in my CRV. Nothing much to install, just the stand… Read more

and a few screws and it was good to go. Since we already set up our previous Hisense so this set up was very fast. Like the previous TV, the wifi connection was excellent (the router is behind the wall and about 5m away. No issue with connection.

Watching live sport, I did noticed some issue with refresh rate and slightly pixelated, as for streaming it pretty good. The sound produce is solid for that entry price.

What I found good was the voice command, it better the our new Toyota Cross voice command. It picked up most of the command like changing to YouTube or TV channels.

However their placement of USB ports and HDMI is not user friendly, it would be easier to reach if they placed it either side of the TV, instead of smack in the middle at the back. This means one has to rotate the tv around for to access these ports.

But for $680, it awesome value and 3 years warranty with it.
