Hitachi 595 L fridge …give it a try – American double door design with glass grey coloured doors. I really didn’t like the French double door design as I imagined all the hot air that goes in when you open both doors in summer. I really wanted a white fridge as my kitchen is white except the cooker and fan. Bought it as my reliable baby Westinghouse fridge was just too small. Coffee milk container for the machine kept falling out as I stuffed too much in the poor thing. I would often swear in the morning after mopping up spilt milk.

I simply ordered the grey/silver hitachi online by sight on sale because of the 5 year warranty and they are made in Japan at the same factory as renowned Mitsubishi apparently. I had no idea about size but went for big. I live right near Costco, so bulk buying and saving was in my head at the time. I’m after quality and peace of mind with the longest guarantee. Sick of buying cheap crappy appliances that break down.

I like the fact that it is well made, practical, and the company backs it up with 5 years parts and labour and ten years on the compressor. The other cheaper companies offer 1 or maybe 2 years in warranty, if you’re lucky. I didn’t want an ice machine as a lot of other manufacturers do. Reading up on a ice maker usually means problems down the track. (Fridge breaks down by having two seperate voltage draws, blockages etc. ) simply just fill and twist from the freezer side with two tradition twist trays. It’s not hard to have a bank of ice really Do you really need a fancy ice machine? lol

Love the colour now and I noticed it matched the stainless steel cooker and fan and I have ice cold drinks and food stored in bulk. My only concern is the glass door. Will clumsy children or drunk adults smash the nice glass doors? Only time will tell. So, no more swearing over spilt milk with eyes half open in the mornings. I was a little overwhelmed by the size of this fridge at first but now I absolutely love it. Easy to move as it has wheels underneath as well. Thank you Hitachi.

I find it strange how I am now in love with a big new Hitachi fridge.
