Excellent value for money – German made cooktop. No issues with the cooktop so far. Functionally similar to an AEG 80cm model selling for over $3000, with the exception of the AEG being able to remotely control an exhaust fan, which would not be any use to me. Two variable zones and 2 fixed, boost function, pause, child lock. The variable zones can be combined for one very large pot e.g. a fish kettle, or divided in a number of combinations for standard or very small pots. Many induction cooktops are overpriced in Australia: this price is reasonable. The 5 year warranty is a bonus, compared to the AEG warranty of 2 years.

Purchased in for $1,199.

Great induction cooktop at a great price – I have been very impressed with this cooktop. It works brilliantly and offers great value for money. In our previous place we had a Miele induction cooktop and this is equally as good. It’s a rebranded AEG/Electrolux with a 5 year warranty rather than the standard 2 year warranty on the branded product, at half the price. No brainer really.

Purchased in at IKEA for $1,119.

Surface of glass shows foxing on high heat – Im disappointed to find that the glass surface of this Induction hob shows foxing (top coating coming off) on high heat. So cooking on high heat or leaving the pot on the hop after cooking will damage the surface. Electrolux engineer came out to replace the glass once already and the same thing happened afterwards. It seems that the glass is not heat resistant enough, which is a huge problem for a hob, rendering this almost redundant as a kitchen appliance. I'm now trying to see if this can be returned. A lot of hassle since the work top will have to be recut and a new hob installed.

Do not buy this – We bought this cook top as part of a complete kitchen and appliance purchase. It was fitted as per instructions by an electrician and was noted immediately to be malfunctioning. We contacted IKEA who advised us that they would arrange for a technician to attend. We asked for an immediate replacement but was told the technician must assess the problem first. The technician came four weeks after the unit was fitted. Really nice guy from Electrolux who replaced the part that was thought to be malfunctioning but with no joy. The cook top is still malfunctioning. We now have to wait for a report to be lodged with IKEA to arrange a new appliance. What is really annoying is that as soon as it malfunctioned I requested a replacement as a brand new appliance should not require repairs! IKEA advised that only a dedicated service person could make that decision. We have no problem at all with the Electrolux people but SERIOUSLY IKEA!!!!

Up date. It is now 7th August. The new unit has arrived from IKEA. They had advised us it would arrive on a Saturday. We stayed home all day but nothing arrived!!! I called them the following Monday to ask where it was. There had been a stuff up and now would be arriving the following Saturday. Once the unit arrived we called Electrolux to arrange for it to be fitted. That was to be today. I just called Electrolux to get a time as have been waiting all morning. Surprise surprise, their van has broken down and according to the lady who took my call "your part is on the van so can't be fitted". I advised her that there was no part and that I had the new unit here. Her response was that it takes 2 installers to fit the cooktop hence we would need to arrange another day. Just a reminder..... This is a brand new unit that has never worked since the day it was installed 2 months ago !!!!!!!! Why would anyone buy an appliance from IKEA with the false impression that a 5 year warranty means squat....... Just to add to the problem. The cooktop is an unusual size so if I insisted on a refund we would need to have the stone bench top altered to fit a different one!!!!

German made bargain – At half or even less the cost of the competition, this IKEA 80 cm German made appliance delivers everything expected of an induction cooktop. It is easy to use and clean, has good heat control including a boost function, timer, child lock and adjustable zone for small and extra large pots, pans. And comes with a 5 year warranty (serviced by Electrolux) for peace of mind. What a bargain! ** Added Jul 2022. Unit still going well after 6 years
