my companion for last 7 years – I have bought this 7 years ago and it has out performed all my expectations. I initially had to upgrade the RAM to 12 GB and worked smother after that. I have ran multiple racing and soccer games on it. Ran data visualization processing, heaving programming stuff, virtual machines and more. In 7 years, i had to replace the battery & fan twice… Read more

and got the hinge repaired once. Just few months ago, it started to intermittently shutdown and finally it has collapsed beyond repair.

My search for new reliable laptop is now on.

Steer Clear! – Bought two of these laptops one for myself and one for my parents based on the reliability i'd enjoyed from HP's previous generation of business laptops. Im shocked at how much the quality has fallen yet both were over $1000 each. Mine had gremlins from the day of purchase and upon returning it to place of purchase, was advised there would be 4-6… Read more

week turn around time if i wished to have it looked at. They refused to exchange it and advised that i should try re installing all the operating programs and purchasing an additional premium program which would facilitate this (im not an IT expert), if i wished to avoid the lengthy turn around period with no laptop. After spending hours on the phone with overseas HP support Techs to re install programs and change settings, i eventually had a working laptop.

1 month after the warranty expired it began crashing and shutting itself down randomly, wiping anything that was open. By this stage battery life was down to 10 mins from a full charge. A few months later a 301 error message appeared advising that the hard drive had failed. Ive contacted HP support who offer me no way of retrieving any of the files or info saved to the laptop and often just hang up on you before even speaking to anyone.

My parents laptop has run painfully slow from the start (nearly 10 mins to fully start up) and had identical battery life....woeful. After paying hundreds to have it serviced it is still too slow for them to browse the internet or run basic programs despite having an I5 processor.

DO NOT BUY A HP PRODUCT!

I will be looking at Toshiba or maybe Samsung for my next purchase

Works for me - excellent service – I have had this laptop (or notebook as it may be called) for 2 and a half years, using it every day, and it has been working well for me. The only problem I've had was a few months ago when the whole thing went pop and went completely dead. I called the HP service line and they talked me through a fix for it but to no avail. Still dead. As it… Read more

was 2 years old and well out of my 12 months warranty I was prepared to pay to have it fixed, but they kindly said they would fix it for free. Not only that they arranged for a courier to pick it up and deliver it back to me free of charge. I was impressed with this service and will make my next PC purchase HP.

ALRIGHT FOR STUDENTS – This computer is definetly not for storing your pictures and videos but is great for documents, not for games to much if youre an avid gamer, camera quality is pretty shammy. I liked it when it was brand new because of the design but not worth $500+ thats for sure.

Could be better – I purchased our hp pavilion g6-2006ax in Oct 2012 from dick smith. Reasonable laptop for the price, but have had issues. Fan stopped working so off to warranty repair after just 3 months. Now just on 8 months after purchase the hard drive died. I suppose you get what you pay for. Speakers on it are awesome though. Maybe i just purchased a dud.… Read more

Altec Lansing speakers, keyboard setup, cheap. Hard drive died, fan broke. not good for a new laptop that is used only for the internet & not gaming.
