Replaced black cartridge and will not print black. Cleaned it as per demo but hopeless.

I replaced my old Canon MP460 with this printer and there is no contest as far as the speed and quality goes - the 5220, wins hands down ! Alas, one thing is missing compared to the Canon - the facility for altering the contrast (darkness) of the print out. I have to print on thin paper, and can't have the image showing through. I could easily manipulate the black output of the Canon down to grey which I cannot do on the HP. And I cannot alter the darkness of the image in the first place. Any ideas ? Please

Paper is in (jammed) and ink cartridge system is also jammed to right. It is hidden when the power is off.

I purchased it about three years ago maybe a bit longer. Is it wi-fi?

Yes it was. I tried updating software but still black ink cartridge wasn’t getting through the print head. We have a new one now, gone to a laser printer, which apparently is better for infrequent printing.

Can I scan & email multiple pages without going through the procedure each time?

Yes, but not from the touch screen panel on the printer. If you scan via the computer software you can add multiple documents by pressing the small + button under the left hand scan summary before pressing the 'done' button.

Can I use a 5520 printer with a desk top computer which uses Linux ubuntu operating system? There is no mention in the printer paperwork only Windows and Mac.

Yes. I am using Ubuntu and got my setup done using the HP site. Follow this link : external link  to set it up on Ubuntu Linux. Only issue I found is while Scanning multiple paged documents - it gave an error , have to find a way to do it.
