Worst device I've ever owned – This laptop in the past years I've owned it has been absolutely awful, words cannot describe the hatred I have towards this thing. Has always been a slow and glitchy laptop struggling to run the most basic of applications without getting so hot you can fry and egg on it. The sound is always crackly and glitchy and somehow it manages to do the same… Read more
through headphones. Touchscreen has never worked properly, always being glitchy to touched and therefore stopped using it and disabled it to prevent accidental touches. I get that they wanted to go with the sleek design but only having USB type C is an absolute nuisance and would much prefer it being slightly bigger to accommodate the normal USB and hey maybe some more room to make the laptop run properly. The battery life on this thing is terrible and won't last you the day without having to charge it. Now, this would all be understandable if it was a cheap laptop, but this thing is anything but cheap which makes it even worse. Anyone looking at getting one of these please, please, please don't know matter how much it is on sale or whatever just get a surface pro if you want a slim detachable laptop.
HP Spectre brilliant and blackouts – I bought a top end HP spectre in February 2016. Immediately there were issues with the loudspeakers, a squealing noise when turned on. In 2019 it started playing up with occasional blackouts which became more regular during 2020. I received some assistance from HP staff but the blackouts continued. I'm very disappointed that such a high-end… Read more
computer would have so many problems after 4 years. I'm not keen to buy another HP product as I do not trust that they are as good as their price tag indicates.
Boat anchor – I brought this notebook 2 and half years ago. I fully agree with other reviewers sound is crap as is battery life. Now the key board will not connect with the tablet. I will never buy a hp product again. For the price i should have brought a Microsoft pro. Show details
rubbish – I bought the laptop less than three years ago. When it was new I was expecting around 7 hours battery as advertised but I never got more than 3 and a half. The sound is terrible. The laptop hasn't been shutting down for the last year even that I tried every possible trick and did few clean windows installations so I always force shut down. for the… Read more
last year and a half, the battery doesn't last more 45 minutes and lately around 10 minutes. I can't say enough how bad it is.
Piece of rubbish – I agree with the other reviewers, sound system on my cheap mobile phone has better sound volume and quality, touch screen, pen & battery are poor also, I find too its freezing and lost confidence very quickly as I was using it for public speaking, even connecting to my hp envy printer is a problem. I hate writing negative reviews like this but I… Read more
have too now, buy a new device and was hoping this would last a little longer, thanks hp. I'm sure hp is a great product in general but the spectra is a let down disappointing.
The worst lapti\op I have owned – What looks like a very snappy product simply fails to deliver. The touch pad is super sensitive and one finds the computer doing tasks that were not requested, it is slow in comparison with an earlier Toshiba Ultrabook which still outperforms this expensive piece of disappointing material. I would not touch an HP again. It is also struggling to… Read more
work with Windows 10 which doesn't help!
It has no USB ports and the store selling this product did not even manage to get my requested 2 connections for USB devices correct. They sold me an HDMI connector but failed to tell me what they had done. Not happy.
I agree with another reviewer who knew quickly that they had made a mistake. I wish I had my money back
One of worst products I have ever used – It is hard to write when so many things are wrong. Even though I make sure I either shut it down, it still heats up sitting in the laptop bag and somehow the battery is drained when I try and start it. Going from home to office and office to home, the whole point of a product like this is that you do not shut it down but that you put it on sleep… Read more
so you can resume your work. However, if you try and out it in sleep, I have to keep holding the power button to restart it and more than once I have lost important work.
The mouse pad has areas which have stopped responding, my last device a surface and something like this never happened. Another thing is the speakers on the attached keyboard. I have used B&O headphones before but wow what an underperforming sound system. The sound is lower than most mobile phones. I would rather start carrying around one of the lighter laptops that buy another one of these. Simply terrible in every way. Thank you HP, NOT!
HP Still best in Laptops and printers – I used to be a Toshiba Satellite fan, after purchasing several HP laptops (5 in total) over the last 2 years I would never go back. I changed due to poor performance with my last Toshiba purchase. What a difference. The sound system on the spectre is awesome. The performance is great. I have had no issues. Only con was a smallish 500gb SSD, but… Read more
that's only due to technology of the day vs price. I matched it to a HP Envy printer and the family live it. No issues at all.
Worse laptop I have ever touched – Where to start. From the first day I was disapointed and knew i had made a mistake. On the second day i turned it on and was getting a major strobing of the screen. I returned it to harvey norman and they told me to reset it by holding down the power button for 15sec and then do an update. This fixed the issue but clearly there is more wrong. More… Read more
than 50% of the time that i turn it on i have to hold the power button for 15sec before it will start. After about a month i was having issues charging it and have to wiggle the cord around to get it to charge. The Bang and Olufsoen speakers are woeful, i cant believe they would put their name and reputation to this product. The mouse pad response is poor and inaccurate. It a piece of rubbish and its only a matter of time before i throw it off my back deck in frustration. This is the last HP product I ever buy!
Avoid if you want to listen to music or watch movies – The bang and olufsen speakers are terrible. I haven't checked it with headphones but you'd think a brand like B&O could produce an inferior product but they have. The laptop/tablet has many fine features but the audio quality is really disappointing. Oh and the usb ports - there's only two usb type c ports and the adaptor is not supplied. Be prepared to pay an additional $40 to $100 for a usb-c hub to accommodate you usb 3.0 devices.
Cracked screen, over $500 to replace. Touch pen broken twice while sitting in laptop bag! – Purchased this laptop for my son for school on the recommendation from Harvey Norman after going in asking about a Surface Pro. In the four months that he has had it the touch pen tip has broken twice..just by sitting in his laptop bag. I have had it replaced under warranty the first time but that was not without many heated conversations with… Read more
Harvey Norman who then spoke to HP. Two weeks later it is now broken again. Last night when plugging it in to charge we noticed the cursor jumping around and couldn't get it to do anything. While moving the tablet around I noticed a thin but large enough crack on the LCD touch screen- my son says he has no idea how it happened and being 12 I'm sure he is not as careful as he found be but should a screen be that thin that putting it in his bag and carrying it around all day at school or on the bus that it should crack! Now because of the crack it is our understanding that the cursor believes that something is constantly touching it therefore won't move.. Again after the recommendation of Harvey Norman I paid the extra $300 to buy the extended product warranty but of course this is not covered! After spending nearly an hour on the phone with HP they have given me a quote that it will cost over $500 to replace and that is just the LCD screen and could possibly be more if anything else needs fixing.. Why wasn't I told that a thin crack could stop the whole function of the laptop, if I can't use the cursor I can't control the functions. I'm so disappointed that It is so expensive repair the screen after having it for only 4 months. If it wasn't a touch screen the crack wouldn't be a problem as I would never have even noticed it and wouldn't stop it from working.
