It's OK for the price – The fans are quiet, the power applied to heading is good, the beeps are not annoying, and the controls are responsive. The glass top is decent CERAN® | SCHOTT. The only gripe I would say is that the SQUARE section is deceiving: The heating elements are quite small (about 120mm diameter) and round, not square. So it will actually heat only in two small spots inside the big square. Otherwise if you find it cheap it was an ok unit.

Purchased in for $200.

Otrolig Induction cooktop - I did not know I could hate a thing so much! – I bought this induction cooktop from Ikea believing it would be a good product because it was from Ikea. However, it is most frustrating as it changes temperature settings seemingly at will, puts other hotplates on when a pot moves, turns the one you want down or off. It can go from 2 to 9 and burn, or just turn itself off. You need to be watching it throughout the usage process. Any splash of water turns the whole top off and it has to be totally dry to work again. I have now had it several years and still find it frustrating. This purchase has caused me to be very wary and to check reviews before purchasing Ikea products.

Purchased in at IKEA QLD, Logan for $899.

Terrible hob – Terrible and dangerous hob! We’ve had this a year and every time I use it I curse it. Do not buy this hob! This morning I was frying bacon I left the pan on ‘2’ and came back to see that the hob had put itself on full power and burned the pan! If I didn’t come back when I did it would have caught fire! The smallest splash on the control panel puts the hob on strike and it just beeps at you - you then have to wait until it’s happy to turn back on again.

It frequently gets too hot and turns itself flexible zone is really just two burners that can be controlled together, in reality you end up with two hot spots on the pan.

This was an expensive hob and I really would have expected this kind of quality from only the most basic cheap appliance.

Extremely disappointed with this Cooktop – The controls are unmanageable. You can't place anything on it when its not in use. You press 4 and you end up with 6. You can't leave this cooktop alone for one moment. It seems to have a mind of its own. I rarely bag out anything, but this is a pain in the neck cooktop. I wish I could return it for a refund. Not recommended at all by me.

2 years later and I still hate this cooktop. I swear at it daily and can't wait to throw it in the bin. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Ikea, and this has been my only disappointment from them ever. I had the service man work on it. He changed the board and it improved by around 10%. It is rubbish and I can't believe IKEA still sell it!

If you want uneven cooking, buy this cooktop – This cooktop has 4 zones with the 2 on the left acting as a flexizone, in other words you can join them to create one large zone. As far as 'sell' words go this is true and sounds wonderful (I fell for it), however the coils under the glass are round-ish (rectangle with wide radius corners) not rectangular, so when you straddle a large round pot or a large rectangular tray over these two hobs, the only places that heat are 2 triangular sections at opposite ends that have contact with the two hobs. The centre and sides of middle have little to no contact with either hob, sure the pan will eventually heat up all over, but the strength of heat is uneven, with the centre and middle sides having less contact than the top/bottom edges, which cook faster. This creates significant hotspots and uneven cooking. If you plan to use a rectangular tray to cook steaks, you will not get even cooking. And forget pancakes all together. Not to mention that you'll need to constantly stir to not burn the food in the hot spots.

I've had this cooktop for 4 days now and I'm so disappointed that I'm considering pulling it out and replacing it. An expensive mistake to say the least. If anyone is considering a flexizone induction, ensure you check that the coils underneath cover the entire rectangular area specified as the flexizone, not 2 circles next to each other with gaps in the middle. The extra money will be worth it.

I give it 2 stars because it has good heat responsiveness, good features and is quiet, but the flexizone (half the cooktop) is a huge let down.

Not impressed and don't recommend.
