I am writing to express my serious concern regarding the VALLENTUNA sofa I purchased from IKEA Australia , currently within its warranty period. At the time of purchase, I was informed that: 1. Removable and interchangeable covers .would be available, allowing the sofa to look new again. 2. There would be a “wide selection of colours and fabric types” to choose from.

However, I was recently informed that IKEA has stopped manufacturing this model and **no replacement covers are available**. This is highly disappointing and misleading. Without covers, the sofa cannot be used as intended.

This method is a fraud from IKEA as I paid a large amount to invest in this and its production stopped after a period of purchase before the warranty ended. I do not recommend buying from IKEA at all. It is not reliable if you want to buy furniture. The design can be modified or the covers changed and the warranty is not real as the warranty does not guarantee the period of use but rather guarantees specific parts of the product that are not related to the use of the product.

Purchased in at IKEA for $5,370.12.

Impossible to sleep on! – Purchased in May 2020 and only used a number of times over a period of 6 months. Early on, one of the zippers broke which although I was disappointed about, I could still open the top cushion with the other zipper and use the bed. Then the bar that runs across the pull out section bent. Again, not happy but could still use it as intended. Comfort wise started off ok but is now like lying on concrete flooring. I wake up with back pain every time I sleep on it and have been to the chiropractor twice. I phoned the customer service line to ask if I could return it without a receipt. They said I could as I used my ikea family card and the transaction would be on that. I tried to return it yesterday and was told because it wasn’t in re-sellable condition IKEA wouldn’t do anything about it. This was after the sales assistant winged about having to find the receipt on my card then accused me of breaking the bar myself! So now I have a $500 plus product that I can’t use for it’s intended purpose. IKEA told me I should’ve returned it sooner but then contradicted themselves by saying the product is exempt to their returns policy. So which is it Ikea. To say I’m unhappy is an understatement and I will be on the phone to the ACCC as soon as they open Monday morning. I have absolutely lost faith in IKEA and their so called 365 day return policy. Do not buy this product if you want comfort in a sofa bed.
