InfaSecure Cocoon Go

The InfaSecure Cocoon Go is a game changer! – Infa Group produces two baby capsules, the ISOFix compatible (Adapt More CS2213IM) and seat belt only (Cocoon Go CS2313GO). I have the Cocoon Go model. It shouts quality and inspires confidence. Here is why. The InfaSecure Cocoon Go baby capsule is produced by an Australian company, Infa Group, est 1955. It is designed and developed in Australia while manufactured in China to keep cost low. It meets and exceeds all required Australian safety standards and is CASA approved for use on aircraft. It is the first and only patented tether base design baby capsule. Its top tether strap is on the base, not looped around the capsule like all its competitors. Once installed, we never need to touch it, undo it, adjust it like the others, where you have to, every single time the capsule goes in or comes out. One lift of the button at the base, the capsule comes out. To attach the capsule to the base, simply match the markers and drop it in. There is a nice feedback click sound to tell you it is securely attached although I do double check just in case. This tether base design alone is all the justification I needed to choose this for our most precious cargo - baby.

My wife is not a handy person. Needing a top tether strap that needs to be installed and removed every single time is not only troublesome. It is down right dangerous imho. It might end up looping over the handle bar it is not supposed to. There maybe twists which reduces its effectiveness. One may become complacent and install it loosely. On the other hand, I am sure my mother will tighten it so much it will cut into the car seat headrest or break the seat or elevate it beyond the safe angle. I even fear the buckle might end up hitting our precious cargo because it is easier to loop around the capsule first and then hook onto the anchor point.

InfaSecure Cocoon Go has a L shaped base with a tall stabliser bar. Maxi-Cosi Micro Plus Baby Capsule and Britax Safe-n-Sound B-Pod Lite both have a small one. The large L shaped base / stabiliser bar gives the InfaSecure Cocoon Go a very stable / secure feel. The top adjustable strap comes out of the tip of the tall stabilizer bar, and clips on to the anchor point on the back of the seat. As a result, it sits nice and flat on the car seat (and the back of it) and you can imagine just how neat it is.

Looks like the industry standard for baby capsule is 4.6kg. Both the InfaSecure Cocoon Go and Maxi-Cosi Micro Plus Baby Capsule are 4.6kg and Britax Safe-n-Sound B-Pod Lite is 4.5kg.

As far as features go, there is very little separating these full featured, premium baby capsules. They all have very high quality fabrics - bamboo fibre in the case of InfaSecure & Maxi-Cosi, removal covers, pillow, shoulder, crotch bucket padding. For most other features, they all share very similar designs. For example the shoulder strap tensioner is identical across manufacturers.

They all have harness holders, although Maxi-Cosi appears a little more progressive utilising magnets for harness and extended canopy holders. Nice! They all have base angle adjustment and seatbelt path for aircraft seatbelt.

There is not a lot between them as far as features go. Worthy callouts include the followings:

1. InfaSecure Cocoon Go has 3 and 2 adjustments for shoulder and crotch strap adjustments respectively, whlle others have 4 and 3 adjustments.

2. InfaSecure Cocoon Go and Britax B-Pod Lite both have 2 sets of attachment points between the capsule and the base, while Maxi-Cosi Micro Baby Capsule only has 1 set.

3. InfaSecure Cocoon Go, Maxi-Cosi Baby Capsule and Britax B-Pod Lite are compatible with lots of strollers. However, I do prefer the Britax's implementation of the single stroller release button at the rear. The InfaSecure Cocoon Go’s release buttons are round stud buttons that can be pulled out although requiring considerable force. I wonder why none of the manufactures implement a single carry handle adjustment button.

4. The canopy design of the InfaSecure Cocoon Go seems to follow the stretch canopy implementation of the Britax. It comes with 2 elastic bands to hook onto the handle bar to hold it in place. This means there is only one (locked) position for the canopy, at almost vertical position. I prefer Maxi-Cosi Mini Plus Baby Capsule’s canopy implementation where canopy is so big it can be extended to almost cover the entire capsule - like a cocoon. What an irony?! And it can also be opened up at rear to allow for better airflow or create a viewing window.

5. As an optional accessory, you can get an infant comforter from Britax. Britax also supplies sunshade and rain cover as optional accessories. But Maxi-Cosi has both built-in so why would you bother? There are many other optional accessories InfaSecure produces like seat protector (https://infagroup.com.au/products/3-in-1-seat-protector). 6. Manual / instructions - Maxi-Cosi has the most how-to videos. InfaSecure Cocoon Go and Britax Safe-n-Sound B-Pod Lite both have one instructional video. Anyway, all manuals are easy to read and intuitive. Britax even provides a storage area in the base for the manual.

7. InfaSecure and Britax come with a protective cover.

My preferred stroller is the Jiffle Wagon. it has the best wheels, best compartments, most flexible and most versatile. It even supports both pulling and pushing.

Personally, I prefer this InfaSecure Cocoon Go simply because it does not use a loop around top tether strap, making it so much easier to use! I feel so much more confident and worry-free using it and getting my family to use it. The little it lacks can easily be made up with a little improvising, such as a towel if additional sun shade is required.
