The Grandeur Onyx was easy to install, which was the only positive. Unfortunately, on the first wash the lining of the cover completely disintegrated. It was washed alone, exactly as instructed. When I contacted Infa Group, they dismissed the issue and claimed it must have been washed with a tissue, despite the photographs clearly showing the… Read more

lining falling apart due to poor quality. This explanation was inaccurate and frustrating.

Overall, I’m very unhappy with both the product quality and the customer service. I would not recommend this product based on my experience.

Great car seat for my 5 year old. Didn't want a seatbelt sash, wanted a harness and this is a very big chair suitable for her (she is the height of an average 7 yr old) and no probs doing it up with plenty more room! Show reply

Good car chair, we've used similar 0-8 y/o car chairs from Infrasecure for our older kids and they've worked well, this seems to be similar quality. Show reply

I can not fault any of our Infasecure seats and this one is just as great. I have a very small suv though I can fit 3 across of the 0-8 Infasecure range because they are so slim and financially it's great only having to buy 1 seat for each child. Show reply

Versatile, easy to adjust, easy to install and the featurs you need – Overwhelmingly, I expect most parents to say proven safety compliance is the most important requirement for a baby or child car seat. The seat must perform effectively in the event of a crash. Fortunately, all car seats sold at Australian retail outlets must meet strict safety standards set by regulations, ensuring their compliance. So then,… Read more ·  1

given that safety is a given, your car seat choice might be based on price, features and look.

Another unique factor about buying a child car seat is that the vast majority, if not all, are first-time and one-time buyers only. The seat is likely to be reused for subsequent children. Given that, much of the information about car seats comes from word of mouth from family and friends and the usual pre-buying research.

There are over 200 models of car seats available in Australia across the range of age groups 0-6 months, 0-12 months, 1-4 years, 4 years plus. You will find many combinations of age spans across the model when doing your own research.

Australian laws say babies must travel in a rearward-facing car seat for at least 6 months. Children must remain in car seats until they are around 10 years old. However, if your child still fits the car seat, they are safer staying in it for as long as possible, regardless of age. Car seats are fitted in the car using anchorage points, seat belts, or both, following the car seat manufacturer’s instructions.

The InfaSecure Grandeur Onyx is a convertible car seat you can use from newborn to 8 years old, making it a good long-term investment for its sub $400 price tag. This model fits into the middle of the price range and features but has the advantage of being rear and forward facing and from newborn.

At first look, the seat looks very big, but when fitted to the car, the initial impression of being bulky transforms into a neat fit.

In our test, the installation was in a Hyundai Tucson that already had another brand of seat on the other so, despite the slimness of the InfaSecure Grandeur Onyx, there was not enough space for another person, which is to be expected with a car this size.

The seat was installed by the reviewer, who had previously installed child car seats in several cars. His response to this car seat was that it was the easiest one he had installed.

It’s quite big, but being installed forward facing, it hasn't taken up more space than her normal car seat. However, its compact width and larger height allow it to be used for longer, up to 8 years old.

The twist and lift function is good. You don’t have to completely rethread the harness whenever you need to change the strap height, which is a good feature. It’s easy to do so you can do it with the seat installed.

It is a comfortable seat for the two-year-old who is using it, as she has fallen asleep in it. The ultimate test, perhaps.

The seat has a cover you can remove and clean - an important consideration.

Other than safety, the ease of getting a child in and out of the seat is a key feature of everyday use.

This seat was easy for a two-year-old to get in and out of, and it's easy for bigger kids to climb in and out. The seatbelt straps have nice padding, and the adjustable buckle is very helpful for getting the fit right. There are little elastic straps on the sides to pin the seatbelt buckles back, which means she can easily put her arms in the straps with the seatbelts in their pinned-back position.

One negative observation by this user was that the padding around the child, as safe as it is, is very large and bulky, which greatly obstructs her view. The child tended to lean forward most of the drive to be able to see.

Quality stylish finish – InfaSecure Grandeur Onyx The look: These seat is really stunning . I like the feeling of the material it’s nice and it’s nice and stylish easy to clean . leather seats . And a nice little saving .

I found it heavy to move around although once I get the chair in rearward facing felt nice and firm. It felt a little upright but once I worked it out the lever at the bottom it was good in the recline positions . The chair was nice and slim fit without taking away the comfort . The build quality felt a bit different from the run of mill baby seats. It felt sturdy and secure . The fabric and cushioning are of a good standard too. I really like the also head-side walls to protect from side impacts.

The instructions were straight forward good diagrams . I’m not the best with installation but found this easier than i thought . As a first time mum car seat installation can be overwhelming although I found this fine .

The support around head I liked as I didn’t need to adjust the straps to much . My little girl is a wiggler and she seemed content in the seat . The inserts were great. And it had a nice little cover over the seatbelt . I had been using a capsule before I was sent this to test and I have to say it was surprising and convenient not to have to click her in and out. It was always a long discussion about which way to go car seat wise capsule of car seat and I can say I like both options . And I will continue to test the seat.

Getting her in and out was easy she was snug but comfortable . We only did a couple of few hour drives with no problems without having to make any adjustments .

I like that it’s versatile that you just twist and lift and it moves easily when she grows which will be great. It’s nice that she can grow up in the chair and I felt confident she was secure and comfortable when she was travelling in it .

Very well priced

Comfortable and easy to install – Comfortable and easy to install. Great for smaller children as it's suitable for 0-8 years and has them harnessed for longer. Slim fit enables us to have both kids seats side by side and a usable normal seat for another passenger. Show reply
