Kambrook KTA270

Are ALL Chinese manufactured toasters for AUSTRALIA using the same defective heating elements and controllers? – Bought this model and returned it after it repeatedly burnt the toaster even on minimal settings. I wrongly assumed that this Kambrook model had a problem, and I would have to buy a different brand. So, I started the research and repeatedly found the burning toast problem across several different brands as reported in various forums and reviews. Now looking for a non-Chinese munufactured toaster...
It's a toaster Jerry – What a piece of crap, thought a Kambrook toaster would be better than a no name brand, i was wrong. The bottom of the toast not cooked the middle barely cooked the top burnt to a crisp, you can clearly see that the elements are not all working at the same level, some of them in the middle barely red the ones at the top brighter than the sun. of the slots also cooks the toast on one side and almost nothing on the other side.
I can buy 3 $15 cheapies from Kmart for the price of this thing, surely one of them will be able to perform it's function.
Edit: Returned toaster for refund at Woolworths, bought $25 Contempo branded toaster from BIGW and it works fine.
It has one job – Needed a new toaster and Woolies had these on special. I'd heard good things about Kambrook toasters so picked one up. Bad decision. Mechanically the toaster is fine - smooth operation and nothing gets stuck. However it toasts very unevenly - I have to flip the bread and re-toast to get any kind of decent result, but that also means I have to… Read more
closely watch during the second go so it doesn't burn. It makes me cross every time I use it. You can clearly see in the photos that the outside elements do not evenly heat up (the pic was taken near the end of the cycle), and that the resulting 'toast' is nearly raw on one side. I know it's only one step up the evolutionary ladder from a table lamp so I'm not expecting a sophisticated device, but I don't think it's unreasonable to expect it to make a piece of toast without me having to hold its hand. After this experience I'll think twice about spending money on another Kambrook appliance.
Not bad for the money – Bought the model with a black finish. It looks great. Compact and light with simple controls (slide is better than dials). Toasts evenly but requires a long time setting. In other words- it’s slow as. But for under $50 who cares? Have had a Kambrook rice cooker forever so hopefully this follows the example. Show details
