Rubbish. KARCHER Premium price Sub standard quality – Bought the Karcher SC3 about 4 years ago, used it once, placed it back in its packaging and on a shelf as I do with all my tools and equipment so they get the best of care. Went to use it Dec 2022, it will not work, a total waste of money. This is the second Karcher product that has failed, despite careful use. Profit not quality. Show details
If you have the correct expectations, this is a good machine – The Karcher SC3 steam cleaner purely pumps steam out of a nozzle, with or without some attachment on the end. That's all it is designed to do. It is not a vacuum cleaner, so it is not supposed to suck up dirt and debris. If you expect to just whip over the floor and its clean and dry - "it aint gunna happen". Here's why: you need to operate the… Read more · 2
cleaner quite slowly because the steam needs time to blow onto the surface, heat and wet the dirt, and collect in the cloth cover. On textured tiles the SC3 has lots of steam available which is key to being effective. It is supplied at high volume and pressure. The corollary of this is that lots of steam = lots of condensed water; the cloth is wet in no time and the rest of the water will not suddenly disappear. I use an old towel to roughly dry the floor and it then dries quickly and with really pleasing results.
The SC3 is impressive because the tools can be swapped out while the machine is running and it can be refilled also whilst operating. It holds a litre of water which lasts a reasonable amount of time (not that it really matters, as it takes a few seconds to top up). The seals are strong and produce a safe locking leak free connection of tools and extension pipes. Also the cloth is easily removed during operation and rinses to 95% clean in a few seconds, under cold tap water. The cloth is excellent quality and has a "velcro" effect on small debris like fruit pips etc.
Good features: lightweight; quick re/filling and tool change; high steam pressure and volume, rapid startup from cold (maybe 45 seconds) Gripes: the cord is too short and does not retract into the unit; there is no window cleaning attachment included
What is does well: tiles and grout, real timber flooring, painted surfaces like doors and walls (if you move quickly) laminated cupboard doors and similar, glass, the microwave What failed: the unit will not dissolve calcium buildups in showers. calcium in insoluble and a chemical is required. that said, all the rest of shower dirt is removed well. I also tried a carpet stain... fail
The verdict: I spent $369 and feel quite satisfied that I have had good value for money. My house is way cleaner than prior to owning this tool (even though I mopped etc). I am still finding more uses for the unit. It has enough steam to remove cracked car window tinting and I have even had a crack at engine cleaning with it. There are things it wont do, but i did not expect it to (eg the TV ad that shows a competitor cleaning rugs with the 'handy carpet glider') but the benefits I have enjoyed well compensate the price tag.
How the hell do u get water tank open when u cant even get ur hand around it. Stupidest design ever – Cant open water tank. May aswell theow it in bin Show details

This is a perfect Product for Performing Steam Cleaning – I fill once but i am doing tiles and the floor is dry after cleaning. Since its a new one i dont have to replace the pad and the only negative is if the cord length is atleast 2 metres you know it gives the extra feasibility instead of connecting through extensions. Leaks a lot of water from the cleaning head and leaves everything sopping wet – From the very first use the cleaner has dripped a lot of water from the cleaning head regardless of which attachment is being used. We've tried adjusting the steam output level. We have to go round with a towel to mop up the excess water, its very inconsistent. We are careful not to overfill the unit and to leave to heat up properly. We used… Read more
other steam mods and not had this issue. We purchased it from Bunnings warehouse less than 2 months ago.
Really not happy with the product at all.
Great for cleaning tile grout and bathroom windows – It takes some getting used to but worked well. A very flexible little machine. I used the three combinations nozzle and interchange them frequently to clean my bathrooms and kitchen. To avoid too much wetness I let the first spray without the fabric. Happy that I decided to buy this machine and do the cleaning by myself. Got my end of lease clean for my apartment done in 6 hours. Show details
SC3 Steam Cleaner – I wouldn't recommend this product It leaves the floors very wet so that water stains are left behind on the tiles. The cord is very short and the machine easily tips over spilling water onto the floor. Cleans walls, skirtings, doors so well! – A great little unit. Compact, easy to use, cleans marks, mirrors, and difficult stains. I use it to clean glass, bathroom, kitchen, remove pet marks on walls and doors (blind dog) and it saves my arms from aching. Highly recommended. Show details
Clean with mean steam! – Don't be intimidated by hot steam. This machine is a breeze to use. It's small compact, light and portable. You can not exceed 1 litre of water into the tank, that lasts for up to an hour of continuous usage. It has a descaling unit included that ensures the machine doesn't clog with calcium scales. Absolutely no exertion. Dust, grime and grease… Read more
just melts off. No need for chemicals and everything smells fresh and sanitised afterwards. Long extension mop pole means no bending. Strong plastic lightweight construction that pulls apart easily for storage into slots included in the body of the machine making the unit easy to store. I probably would like a longer electrical cord however there is no provision for cord retraction into the body of the machine, so you need to fold it and tuck it under the handle. That's okay no problem. It comes with little thingy attachments to do detail bits and bobs and also a cover plate for the mop head if you need to do carpets. And the actual cleaning pads themselves are synthetic and hairy meaning it picks up dirt and they are easy to wash. The floor pad has this thing that sticks out for you to step on for removal without needing to bend down while the pad is hot. Safe efficient no fuss cleaning that makes you feel thoroughly clean. Tried a few different brands but it's best to pay more for a better product that's going to last longer. The descaling unit is an excellent inclusion that ensure a consistent flow of steam. I'm a happy fussy cleaner. No probs.
Nothing but troubles – Inconsistent steam, water leaking from main body and attachment head, and to top it all off, the cheap plastic head snapped clean off this morning. Cheap product, expensive brand name. Show details

Better Than I Thought Exceeded Expectations – Bought from Bunnings. Easy to use. Cleaning has become almost fun. Takes a bit of getting used to & beware of hot liquid! Once you have mastered this machine, you will NOT look back. Does the shower, sink, toilet seat, actually the entire bathroom, wall to wall, tile to tile, spotlessly clean. A bit strange at first as it gets quite wet but you… Read more · 1
just follow with a wipe down with a clean microfiber cloth. Even disgusting, never touched before insect screens are done beautifully. BUT must vacuum & get as much dust off it as you can. Does the kitchen floors, laminate cupboards, splash back even the dog's dirty toys..... Steam away, do everything with it! Accessories are expensive for what they are but shop on Ebay for the extra floor mop microfiber cloth & the smaller elasticated one for over the brush. Also v light to cart around. Have fun!
powerful steam cleaner – I bought this in Oct 2019 from Bunnings, so only 2 months old. not sure why the karcher SC3 in product review is being shown as discontinued. It has 3.5 bars of max steam pressure, its a 1900w machine. I have used it only as a handheld steamer . I have had 2 combination floor/handheld steamers (very good brands) before but this is so much… Read more · 1
easier to use and much more powerful. No more trying to get into corners with old tooth brushes and bamboo skewers. The hand held steamer using the small brush nozzle just shoots out the dirt . I used it on our vanity basin and the grime where the rim of the wash basin meets the vanity top just shot out , as did the grime around the steel on the shower door.
There is a refill indicator on the machine and it is so easy to fill , there are no caps or lids to lift off.
The only draw back is they only give 1 micro fibre cover to fit over a the medium sized brush, which can be used on tiled walls, bench tops and splash backs , once you start you just want to keep going, so this is not enough, However we bought 6 extra terry toweling cloths that fit onto the brush on ebay, (the karcher models are specified by the ebay seller).
It is also very good on floors , the floor cloth is actually bigger that the flat floor head, so it cleans the corners and it is easy to work in narrow areas of my bathroom floor. Again only 1 floor cloth is provided, it is just not enough for all floors and once you start you do need to change floor cloths but again we have to head to ebay to get floor cloths .
Like all steam cleaners when you first press the nozzle , a little extra water might trickle out but this happened on all my 3 steam cleaners, it's such a little that it's nothing to worry about.
It's easy and light to carry or pull along, it makes cleaning a breeze
