KitchenAid 2 Slice Toaster KMT2109

I loved my old kitchen aid toaster, so much that as soon as it died after years of use I went and bought a new one right away. It is completely useless. Only the inner elements heat up while the outer elements don't. You have to put your toast through twice to actually cook it and when it's finished - it only is browned on one side. And yes, I tried every single setting and had the same result. I had to return it back to the store I bought it and buy a new one from a different brand. Complete waste of $179.
Purchased in at Victoria's Basement for $179.
It works. I like the way the toast cage pops up, so you can access the cooked toast without burning your fingers, this is it's best feature. I do use the crumpet/bagel setting, it's kind of average but does toast one side a bit more than the other. It does toast wholemeal bread in one go, but you have to have it on the highest setting. In fact it's always on the highest setting, anything less and it's very very light toast. The defrost option seems to work OK. It's an OK toaster. For around $200 it's not a great buy. I think I am giving up on high end/expensive small appliances they seem aimed more at people who don't care how it works, just how it looks or the brand name. For these things it's not form over function I'm afraid.
Purchased at flybuys for $200.
The perfect accompaniment to go with the kettle. Has your wide slots for the thicker slice. The usual levels of darkness, defrosting, warm element etc. I do find it’s worth paying a little extra for prime aappliances. They are more durable. Quiet, easy to clean & added bonus of 2 yr warranty. Also reviewed the kettle to match
