The kettle has a cute, rustic look and is made of stainless steel, but there’s a fairly large plastic part inside that holds the mesh near the spout. Since it sits in the kettle, it ends up being in contact with the water most of the time. This plastic piece is also attached to the handle and can’t be removed. If you’re buying this kettle to avoid plastic, this might be something to keep in mind. Show details
Stylish and functional kettle – Love this kettle Easy to keep clean Doesn’t take up too much real estate in my kitchen Show details

Kitchen Aid Kettle v disappointing – I bought a kitchen aid kettle KEK1565AER 1.5L Design Kettle - Empire Red from David Jone online and was v alarm and disappointed when I saw the corrosion on the upper edge of the kettle has corrosion and formed a rusty rim after a few times used. The kettle arrived on 27 Sept 2022 and I wrote in a complaint on 2 Oct 2022. The response was again… Read more
disappointing stating "The "rust-like" appearance at the bottom of a kettle may be just a harmless buildup of minerals called limescale". There were 2 photos attached which showed the corrosion (rusty) on the top rim of the kettle- the customer service who response didnt even look at the photos attached. This is my first purchase of this premium brand and is totally appalled of the poor quality of product.
Plastic parts inside and signs of corrosion in less than 12 months – This review is for the KEK1222ASX Stainless Steel version, 11 months since purchase. I purchased this kettle because I read a review (https://homegearx.com/safest-electric-kettle-without-plastic/) where it said that it has no plastic parts inside. It does - it has a plastic scale filter and plastic handle connection points. I contacted the… Read more

At the time I also contacted Appliances Online and also Kitchenaid. No reply from Appliances Online, but KitchenAid were very responsive and helpful. KitchenAid offered a replacement, but it also had plastic, so I said don't bother. At the time they said "We used to have an item which was purely stainless steel but we no longer stock it."
Anyway, I continued to use it for 11 months, it now has a fine black powder in the bottom that I have washed out a few times. Not sure if its the plastic parts inside or not, but I won't be using this kettle any more as I am concerned with the breakdown of plastics after boiling many times.
It also has signs of corrosion around the lip (not that this is not visible unless you take the lid off, but disappointing all the same.)
Would not recommend.
Functional but nothing special – I was mislead to believe this was quiet and rapid boiling, but it's not. It takes as long as the cheap one I had before and makes the same horrible noise. Would return it if I could, not worth the money. Show details
The water smells and tastes like plastic – I would have loved this kettle except for one problem. From day 1 it has had a plasticy smell and taste in the water. I thought after a year it would have cleared up. But no. It is still the same after all this time. I'm looking for a new kettle now. You would think when you pay $123 for a kettle it wouldn't be tainted with a plastic coating or whatever it is causing the smell and taste. Show details
Very disappointed with this product! – The top coat next to the handle started to peel off after a bit more than 1 year of use. Also the bottom of the kettle looked rusted from the very beginning. I had to clean it with vinegar, lemon etc. very often so I can use it. Show details

Should last longer – Less than 2 years old and this expensive kettle has failed. For what it cost, there is an expectation of longevity, however it's ultimate performance is no better than budget brands. Bought from Peters of Kensington. Show details
Looks great, irritating design, didn’t last long – The kettle looks really swish but refilling is slightly irritating at best. Like most top handle kettles, it’s just a pain to refill. The kettle itself died after a little over a year so please keep the receipt. We foolishly threw ours out (like most people, I’d like to think). Painfully expensive lesson to learn, I guess... Not happy – Very simple, nothing special, the inside has a strong smell of like steel after boiling water. Looks very cheap. No value for money. The bottom of the kettle looks already like rusted and I bought it only 12 days ago. When not in use I clean the inside with a towel and leave it opened.because of the strong smell. Who knows what cheap material has been used. Show details

Lovely kettle – This kettle is a gorgeous shape and colour and pours beautifully. Boils quickly and quietly. Can’t comment on longevity as I’ve only had it a few weeks, but it makes me happy every time a make a cup of tea. My only improvement would be to wish it was a little bigger, 1.75L rather than 1.5L Show details · 1
Strange taste in the water – Purchased this kettle aprox 4 months ago. There is a very strong taste in the water even after all this time- i can taste it when i have a cup of tea. i thought the taste would be gone by now but it hasnt. Other than that the kettle looks very good on our bench and is working well. But because of the taste i would definitely not recommend. Show details

Woohoo, love my kettle! – Woohoo! Light to hold, easy to use, quick to boil, lovely pouring action, fills through the spout so I never need to remove the lid, and best of all, I can still hear the audiobook while it boils! I wanted a smaller capacity kettle, and this seems perfect to date. Please please please let it last a long time.... Show details · 1
Corrosion...and less than eighteen months old – We love the kettle...really tasteful design, great for just the two of us. However, it is corroding around the lid and has begun to leak from the handle, just above the switch and its not even two years old. We did not keep any receipt, it's a kettle after all...we didn't expect it to last forever...maybe more than eighteen months though. Show details · 1
Too bad for corrosion – We love the kettle and especially love the size and style. However the 'stainless steel' is peeling at the end of the handle and is corroded. Did not expect this to happen. Too bad because it's nicer looking than most of the kettles on the market. Seems like it's not under warranty now. Show details

My beautiful new kettle – I was given this Kitchenaid kettle as a gift. I love it! It is a perfect size, not too heavy, and doesn't take long to boil. There is only my husband and myself at home now so we don't need a large kettle anymore. The style and colour looks perfect on my kitchen bench. Show details
Love the size – Love the size and look of the kettle but was a bit disappointed with the rattling sound it makes, not sure if this is normal or if it is a faulty one! This is my 5th KitchenAid appliance, just luv the brand. Would like kitchen scales to be added to the range Show details · 1
