Toast slot has a limited width and height. Is ok for most bread but too narrow to toast cut bread rolls. Show details · 1
Terrible, didn't last a year – I bought the 4 slice version. It worked ok, but toasted unevenly. It was only used every few days and when we returned from an 8 week trip I went to use it and it tripped the house safety circuit. I tried other power points but it's definitely the toaster being faulty. It's also only just out of warranty. Very disappointed, a toaster with such little use should last a lot longer than a year! Perfect little toaster – This toaster is fine for a small kitchen bench top Regular bread size toasts fine, larger bread just start on dial 2 and turn around slice. So far haven’t needed to dial up .. Pop up bracket I discovered works for crumpets and croissants heat up. Show details · 1
Great for smaller slices like sourdough – This review is for the Kmart Anko Model: T389A000. The $15 one with the 'chrome' trim (see the photo). I noticed a lot of reviews for this toaster say that the slots are not deep enough for standard square bread, and I would say this is true. The slots are 97 mm deep, compared to 125 mm on my Sunbeam Maestro 2 Slice model: TA6240. But I bought… Read more
this model specifically because of the shallow slots. I toast Coles Finest Laurent 30 Hour rye vienna sourdough bread, and the slices are vary from 60-100mm in height. With the Sunbeam toaster I kept burning my fingers trying to get the sourdough slices out after toasting, evening using the 'high lift'. I checked all the available toasters at Kmart and this model (and the $7.50 model TA01106-SA) were the only ones with shallow slots. I've had the Anko toaster since 25-Feb-2021 and I'm quite happy with it. Toasting: toasts fairly evenly without burning the thick sourdough crusts. I find the 4 setting toasts just right. Although the Anko uses less power than the Sunbeam: 730-870 Watts, vs. 960-1030 Watts, the Anko toasts faster. The 4 setting is around 2 mins 30 secs, whereas the Sunbeam takes about 4 mins. I think this is due to the Anko having narrow slots, so the elements are closer to the bread than the Sunbeam, which has wider slots. Toast warming rack: the Anko has a basic warming rack on the top of the toaster that is put in position with a turning knob at the rear. It locks into place once up. I use it to heat my china breadplate and it supports the weight well. Size: the Anko toaster is fairly compact compared to most toasters, so it doesn't take up much space on the bench. Light, ans easy to move around. Style: the 'chrome' trim and sculpted shape make it look much better than the $7.50 version. The sides and top of the toaster shell don't get hot, only the metal top inside. The Sunbeam is stainless steel and the whole top gets very hot, so it's much easier ans safer. I haven't burnt my fingers yet using the Anko. Cord recess: the cord has a recess/holder under the toaster that work well. So if you like smaller slices of bread like sourdough and keep burning your fingers trying to retrieve your toast, I would recommend this toaster.
Great as an extra – I purchased for my celiac daughter. She uses it every morning. Very basic but does the trick. Easy to clean, no burning and very simple. We use white gluten free bread. Show details
Don't waste your money... Pay extra for a toaster that does what its supposed to do – Waste of money.. My husband bought us this one night after our previous toaster blew up.. Normal slice of bread Bread doesnt fit... I don't have time in the morning to watch the toast then turn it half way through. Show details
Waste of $15 – Used the toaster for about 3 seconds before it triggered the safety switch in my apartment. It’s in the bin now. Also bought a sandwich press that I bought from Kmart and thinking that’ll be in the bin too. Show details
Crap – This toaster looks good but the markings on the buttons rubbed off within the first week. By the third week the top of the toaster had a weird stain that could only have come from the heat elements affecting the cheap metal. After two months the handle broke off. I’m the only one who uses this toaster and I take care of my stuff so my last toaster… Read more
lasted over 15 years. My last toaster was $10 and didn’t look as fancy as this one. After 3 months this toaster has gone in the bin. Don’t bother with this piece of crap.
garbage – This toaster looks good & has a handy bread rack, but, otherwise, its garbage.. Bread sits a bit above, when toasting, so top bit of bread, isn't toasted - its not deep enough, and this is using just regular bread.. The cancel button, is very slow to respond, burning bread more.. There is only a slight ridge on the browning control, making it… Read more
hard to see, where this is set.
It will partly toast the outside of a frozen piece of bread, leaving the inside, still cold!
its one of the worst toasters we've had, for $15 we'll just put it aside as a back up, not worth the hassel in returning..have given this a couple of months, but, have now given up!!..
very disappointed, as found previous 'home & co' products quite good..this toaster, with its shallow toasting slots, should never have been approved for sale in the first place, as at least, a regular pc of bread, should go down fully to be toasted!
