Lenovo Yoga 730
Verified1 review
Its really had its stability problems – I have a reasonably recent lenovo yoga 730 laptop notebook that was recommended by harvey norman. It was also very expensive to buy compared to known brands. Lenovo has always really been the cheapest brand contender in the marketplace, however on this occasion the specs appeared most suitable to what I needed. The big question is “do I regret buying it”, Well i'm sorry but it's mostly a yes !!
In practical terms its fast, backlit keyboard, thin, light, good battery life, feels like quality….. Most people would be thinking well why the poor review.
I found the single pad type mouse a pain at first until I learned how to cut and paste, so I'm over that hurdle and in general it feels like quality, but I still have to google the odd shortcut.
The bottom line is that 3 months after I bought it, an automatic update crashed my system and I lost a lot of work without warning.
I turned updates off and not too long later I was forced to wipe my drive and reinstall windows completely, once again without fully backing up.
The platform flies when it's having a good day and then it just becomes unstable or makes stupid changes for me.
Somehow yesterday I ended up with a red screen tint in the windows and the saga begins again.
I have had my fun calling the help line over my time, although they are very polite I seem to end up spending hours working on fixing the thing and then it takes ages to get the settings back to where I had them.
I'm not playing the blame game, I'm just saying that I have “never”before had a computer that integrates so poorly with Windows stability. I've never had a computer before that was just so nice.
If you have the time to keep fixing it, maybe get an extended warranty when you buy. Its a shame as the hardware seems quality….
