Zero star customer service and quality – UPDATE: LG booked a technician to replace the seal very quick, few days after this post, without any charge. The technician did a good job and the problem is now fixed. I hope the fridge will last long. Also hope LG will do better in quality control to build up customers' confidence. Just two days after purchase, the fridge door has frost built up. My husband notices that it is caused by door seal deformed. He called LG customer service for repair and be told he needed to pay the call out fee if this is not a manufactory fault. This is a brand new fridge purchased from Goodguys two days ago - this has to be a manufactory fault but the staff offered no further assistance. The quality is bad and the customer service is unacceptable. Will not buy LG products anymore.

Excellent fridge freezer for smaller household only if it does not stop working due to faulty gas component – The LG 679 side by side fridge freezer is an excellent choice for a single person or someone downsizing and may have difficulties bending. Though there are drawers at the bottom of the fridge and freezer there is no difficulty in opening these. The shelving can be adjusted, both in the fridge and the doors. There is no separate compartment with a cover for cheeses or butter but you get used to that, same without an egg rack. This is the only reason I did not give 5 stars. The door racks are much wider than most other fridges allowing for the larger bottles to be stored. I found when shopping for a fridge some other brands had narrow door shelving only. It does not have an ice maker or chilled water but the price at around $1799 compensates for that as others with this feature cost twice as much. As a single household there is adequate room for all foods stored in both the freezer and the fridge and with the large shelving it is easy to access what you need. The fridge/freezer settings are set but are simple to adjust if necessary to make it colder or warmer. The external finish is easy to keep clean. This is a very quiet unit and I do not recall even hearing it running. Carefully read all the installation instructions when setting up and make sure all protection plastic and tabs are removed before use as there is quite a lot and may be easy to miss. Wipe all shelving clean before use and this makes it easy to find any missed plastics.

AMENDED REVIEW: Since I wrote my praise about this fridge I review my interactions with LG to below poor as their attitude with Customer (I don't) Care is disgusting. My fridge worked wonderfully until it didn't. Something to do with the gas failed, therefore the fridge stopped working. Everything in the freezer melted and fridge contents warmed up to room temperature. The fridge failed 3 times previously but I just switched it off, cleaned up the mess and restarted and it went fine for a few weeks until it finally failed most likely on Christmas Eve or Christmas day with a full load of food in both freezer and fridge. Contacting LG was a disgrace. I was requested to provide shopping dockets, bank statement as proof of purchase or a photo of lost food as well as fully itemised list. I provided photos of contents of the freezer and fridge but not individual photos of every item but I did write up a full detailed description of every item I had to throw out and the replacement cost to repurchase. This took quite some time to prepare. Yes, my fridge was eventually replaced about 1 month later but LG refuses to compensate me for the full value of the lost food. My wasted time in preparing the list, preparing the new replacement fridge, cleaning out the old fridge and the stress of having a failed fridge after only 6 months is not considered by LG at all. They do not care. They do not believe a detailed list of lost food, basically 'offering' a lower value which does not cover the full replacement, let alone the time and energy to go shopping for everything again. I requested an extension on the warranty for the replacement as a good will gesture. NO! This was refused, but it would only have been needed if the replacement fridge failed. It would not have cost them anything otherwise. I also requested a new 'invoice' for the replacement fridge but this also has not been provided. In fact no paperwork is provided to commence a new warranty from the date of delivery of the replacement.
