I love it and wish the didn't stop making it!!! – I bought it about 10 years ago now. I can't supply a receipt for obvious reasons, but got it from Officeworks for $99. It was so easy to install and get going with it. I had 2 other multimedia players from other companies before and they died on me soon after the warranty expired. But not my LG DP-1. It is still alive and kicking and as effective as the first day even though it is "old" technology and it is an "old man" by all tech standards!!!

I have also discovered that, by putting multi-USB extensions on each one of the 2 USB slots, I could have way more than 2 USB/hard drives attached to it at any one time!!! I also like the "eject" button, it has helped me to conserve my hard drives for about 10 years as well. Just make sure that each hard drive and USB extension have their own plug-in-a-socket power, or it won't work.

The only disappointing thing was that when I went around 5 years later to buy another one for another TV, I was told that LG had stopped making them!!!

Really well done – It does what it is supposed to do exceptionally well. compared to other media players I have used it is simple to use and navigating through menu's is a breeze. The machine is pleasant visually. Have had it for nearly 1 year and it has not missed a beat. With three grandchildren giving it a really good road test every day they come over. It certainly passes my quality control. Easy to use, very reliable, inexpensive, will accept large capacity hardrives , looks good

Excellent Media Player – Great value and great looking and great performing Media Player. had actually gone off anything with the LG label but this device proves they can improve and update and deliver. I purchased this player at Officeworks for $100 .. so pretty much at the base level price for a device like this and yet it out performs players that cost more including a Kaiser Bass device I had bought last year from JB Hi-Fi.

I highly recommend this player as a solution to both playback media files from your computer or network (built in DLNA) .. has built in Wi-Fi (B G and N) .. no dongle required and has 2 extra USB ports for playing back files directly.

HDMI instantly recognized and linked to my widescreen Toshiba HD TV with perfect and did I already say it super fast playback.

Super simple to set-up .. and to operate with access to web via Youtube and Accuweather.

So far .. no file it couldn't play.

re: firmware update .. had an issue with the internal download update not being able to access the net .. so downloaded it directly to my computer from LG's website ..

Then put the raw files onto a USB drive .. with nothing else on that drive .. plugged it in and presto .. it recognized it and updated the firmware .. it is a great value player and it is indeed fast and better than others I've already tried from KB and WD. played all files thrown at it .. Super fast access .. built-in Wi-Fi .. smooth design (almost art). just the quirky firmware update .. but resolved that via direct download via my computer from LG's website.

Is there anyway to disable the power mode on this product so that it stays on when the TV is turned off

Hi there, Talha there is no app via Iphone or S3. Also, to disable the power mode, keep the unit on when TV is turned off, then simply turn off SIMPLINK.

For more information we'd be happy to help. Give us a call on 1300 LG CARE (1300 54 2273).

Kind regards, LG Australia

LG can you please bring out an app to support the remote control of this terrific product, that is the only downside. I would be interested if we could get it developed as it think you will find people will use it. There are other media player systems with apps, so I wouldn't think it wiould be that difficult to create? please comment

Thank you trevor

DP1W – Stylish looking, easy to set up, plays everything, WiFi and one of the only media players that easily recognised my 3tb HDD without the need to partition it. Cheaper than just about every rival except the ugly Seagate job. The menu is clean and easy to navigate, the control is much better quality than the WD and Seagate offerings and this media player is much, much quicker at scanning the drive.

The only issue I have is the firmware update which seems to always have issues with the network even though all the other online features are running brilliantly,

Did I mention how good it looks? Easy to use, looks great, plays everything, great menu, quality control, fast scanning, recognises 3tb No USB 3.0 support, firmware update is difficult to use
