Great TV- Controller from Stone Age – This review would have been 5 stars but the poor TV controller prevented that. Not back lit, can see volume control and the interface with the TV is the point and click with the arrow movement is not very good. Samsung way ahead of LG in this department. You'd think for $5,000 a decent remote would be provided at minimum. Not very happy but like I said, the TV has a great picture! Show details
Don't buy this TV. Full of bugs and don’t get fooled by the “Sound Share” mode option – Very dissatisfied and disappointed that TV Sound share not working on my LG 2021 TV and LG 2021 sound BAR LG Reference Number: CNP210924493241 Below article saying about this feature but not working. Found more issues: OLED65G1PTA is full of bugs and already raised many support cases. Most disappointing issue is TV DON'T Support DTS / DTS HD and DTS X audio formats that widely used across the globe. As a result of this you won't be able to play any audio or video file with DTS audio track. It's a 4.5K TV and can't support DTS X. Very disappointing.
Best of the best – This is quite simply the best TV that I think you can buy right now. Pros: - Outstanding and incomparable image quality and contrast - Extremely thin (properly mounted it sits just over 20mm from the wall) - Built in wall mount so there is nothing else to buy - Very responsive operating system (WebOS) - Great gaming response for new systems… Read more · 1
like Xbox Series X and PS5
Cons: - To get the TV flush with the wall you need to run the wires out the bottom of the TV or create a recess in the wall - Quite a bit of advertising in the Home Screen - Wire guidance clips at the back are very weak (see below) - Expensive which means it might not be accessible to everyone.
I usually end by talking about the price but this time I thought I’d start with it. I really can’t fault LG for their price point on this unit because it’s actually worth the money and is a brand new step in OLED brightness and quality. The only downside I see to this is that it’s going to be too expensive for some people and I think that everyone should have a TV like this.
The new OLED evo does meet up to the hype that I have read about in the marketing material and YouTube reviews. The G1 does a good job of upscaling standard definition content but it shines through when you play UHD and 4K content.
Compared to the previous OLED screens there is a noticeable improvement in daytime viewing but the screen does still have a fair bit of glare in a room with lots of windows since it has a glossy finish vs. something like the Samsung Frame with the mat finish screen. But where the image quality really comes out is in a room with no windows or at night. This is also why these TVs look so incredible when you see them on the showroom floor (that and you’re usually standing about half a meter from them while they broadcast 4K specially tuned content).
The WebOS operating system is nice and refreshingly responsive over my previous experiences with Sony Bravia Android TVs which I cannot discourage people from buying enough after having had experience with 3 of them. - To be fair to Android TV they are responsive when new and have a lot of potential functionality however they are inherently doomed over time as the processors will continually be outpaced by updates. Dedicated systems like LG WebOS and Samsung Tizen are custom built for their purpose and tend to remain responsive for much longer.
The remote comes conveniently built with Netflix, Amazon Prime and Disney+ buttons which makes it very convenient to jump between services. The near field syncing feature in the remote does function but can be a bit of work to get up and running conveniently and ultimately I think it is more of a gimmick type feature that I won’t necessarily use very often. The main reason for this is that the TV has great casting integration for both Chromcast and Apple making it a far more universal device than (again) the Android TVs which do not support apple product casting.
All up, this is the best TV I have sat in front of and very pleasingly, it is as good on my wall at home as it was on the showroom floor which is sometimes the ultimate test.
As above, the only cons are the advertising content in the Home Screen which I will continue to try to scale back. And the wire guidance clips at the back which hardly affect the performance and were easily fixed with the use of 2 small black zip ties.
Happy to answer any questions if they’re submitted.
Unreal picture, looks amazing wall mounted – What can I say, it's the most expensive TV I've ever owned and I don't regret a thing. It's a smart TV with LG's webOS and compared to other brands, it's well designed and works excellent being responsive and looks great. The remote is a bit weird but you get used to it and they've dialed down the responsiveness of the pointer compared to the… Read more · 1
2020 model, and it feels more natural. Has some great features like being able to set the numbers on it to programs, so you can quickly switch between apps and TV channels.
But let's be honest you're not buying it because it's smart, you're buying it because of how good it looks on the wall. It's the first TV that I've had that comes with a wall mount bracket, a plate for our Australian studs, and a stand.
Note: to mount the TV you're going to have to recess the power points and antenna/network ports. But the TV has given you what channels it can to help and it does sit very flush against the wall. With the wall mount it allows access to the ports behind the TV so your not committing to never getting back there.
Then there's the picture, OLED is something quite amazing. There are some great reviews on YouTube about the advantages/disadvantages of OLED, but it's the colours that stand out, black on the screen is actually black and really does make a huge difference.
My only complaint is crazy, that you cannot get the matching sound bar (G1 or GX) in Australia... Doesn't sound like much. But if you do want to add a sound bar, (with such a high quality picture why wouldn't you), any regular one will look out of place as the TV mounts very flush. that's why you get it. So if you want a sound bar, either you'll be sitting it on something or don't wall mount the TV - which then you wouldn't choose this TV for that.
Other than that.. its unreal.
