Great fridge 12 years on – I love this fridge and recently looking to upgrade new appliances I kept my LG side by side with handy drinks hatch because I couldn’t find anything better. People if you leave water sitting in the overflow tray catchment in big puddle of course it will rust overtime. Clean up after yourselves and you will have no problems. mine! Replacement for all parts have easily been obtained through LG for me no problems. I replaced the front drinks hatch as I damaged it and several internal shelves all fairly cheaply. Hope you hang in there for many more years fridge because I don’t want to replace you!!

Absolute rubbish – My lg fridge has rusted out quicker than a model T ford on a beach, and all lg can do is ignore me. I would rather use an esky than buy another lg product. the fridge cost me $1500 and has lasted barely 4 yrs, I've sent numerous emails proof of purchase as requested and I get nothing.  Show details

Disappointed – Door rusts to quick under ice dispenser poor design, and no spare parts available either for fridge flap door. Cheap hinging systemThe ice maker keeps jamming and switch has to be activated manually. If there has been leaks in fridge they seep under the lips of shelves to easily. Brilliant Fridge/Freezer never let me down Love the Water/Ice dispenser – I have never had an issue with mine, it is very quite, easy to clean. Holds 3lt milk in the door easily. Seals great. I would buy another LG if they made them like this one. I have read that some are saying their have rusted I can only say they must have had theirs outside as mine (in kitchen) hasn't got a mark on it.

Solid fridge – Can't have asked for a better fridge. Have had it for 10 years now and still going strong. The draws had broken on me last year but considering i have two boys im amazed they lasted for so long. Never got the chance to set up the water dispenser so i can't comment on it.

EXCELLENT FRIDGE/FREEZER – This is a really great fridge, with good features, well made, looks smart, easy to clean and well priced. I like in particular the door compartment that opens for the outside. Ice and water dispenser are also excellent. This is my first LG product and I can thoroughly recommend it. Sad to see that it has been discontinued.

rust under water dispenser – same problem as many with a water leak causing rust under water dispenser. Not a good design. not surprised it is now discontinued will have to buy a new fridge soon as it looks terrible. LHS door bubbled and rusted – Within 3 years the LHS door began to bubble and rust below the water dispenser. Rust now extends 3 inches below the dispenser and up the sides. Not well designed. event. Say no to LG, I had similar issue with washing machine (rust) just outside warranty period. Should have learned my lesson!

Constant dinging & Express Frz flashing – The express freeze option is constantly flashing on and off and the fridge is dinging along with it. LG wouldn't tell me anything, just said I wasn't allowed to try and fix it myself. Has anyone else had this problem and been able to solve it? My experience with the service centre wasn't great, overall the fridge has lasted about 8 years, and I now might have to throw it out as they've stopped making parts for it.

Give LG a miss - Their customer service sucks! – Had this for 9 years, and now the water hose going to the dispenser is brittle and leaking. I've had 2 service men try to repair the hose only to be told that the hose cannot be replaced, you cannot get into the door with the hose and dispenser (freezer door) and that I'm stuck with an expensive water dispensing fridge that doesn't dispense water! LG cannot repair the problem, nor are they taking ownership of the problem. Not happy LG :(

LB Not LG (Life's Bad Not Life's Good) – Fridge quick door catch broke, rust in freezer door, paint chipping from fridge door, dispenser unit of ice and water failed. The motors have always been noisy and their customer service do not care. This is seriously a terrible company. I will never buy LG again, any of their products. This product is also subject to recall due to its ability to cause fires, do check your serial number.

rust around water/ice dispenser area said yet again they would check and get back but to me but since then nothing, zilch, sent more emails again nothing, now getting frustrated.

By the way doors for this model is no longer available.

Believe the products metal protection was poorly done (it's obvious) just want to get the rust fixed before it destroys the door, then what, a new fridge at high cost?

Expensive piece of junk – The electronic panel that runs the auto defrost needs to be replaced and have just been informed by the fridge repairer that they no longer make the part so now our fridge is totally useless. I will never buy another product from LG ever again and will advise everybody I know to do the same.

Rust on door – Have lg fridge, rust started appearing under drink dispenser almost immediately after the warranty expired, like it was on a timer. Looks terrible now.

LG = Lifelong Gripe – Like all the others we also have the same rust problems and handles/hinges/drawers breaking. We took out an extended warranty however as you can guess problems start almost immediately after warranty expires. Plan A : Call LG and check out their "Excellent customer service" Plan B : Start FREE advertising campaign for LG.... oops did mention collecting images of rusty/broken parts ??

Terrible and bad customer relations – Plastic components broke easily. Replaced several at our cost, but broke again. Complained to LG who were less than interested. rust bucket! terrible customer support – I have a 7 year old fridge. Like everyone else who purchased this model, rust has bubbled through under the ice dispenser. LG will replace parts but expect us to pay a technician to replace their rusty product. If i break it, i fix it. You break it, you fix it! Never again! fridge runs well rust, poor assistance in replacing door.

Lg fridge with ice water dispenser product grl 147nis – Can't believe this ice water dispenser on fridge door has rusted and bubbled its product grl 147nis never heard of a indoor fridge rusting very disappointed been told its covered under implied warranty and default , but LG don't agree so not fair not buying LG products again been told from other manufacturing places that it should not rust but LG think orherwise Not much considering it rusts

Bar Quick access door keeps breaking – Bought the product 2006. first door broke 2009 and now ( 2013 ) that door has broken . Going for third door. No satisfaction from LG to replace an $80.00 product. Probably $20.00 cost price. Bad long term investment – Had since 2007. Early on had problems with the solenoid operating the crush mechanism which meant it always gave out ground ice. Was fixed twice, once be an engineer then latterly by myself (I used part of a metal coat hanger as the pin rather than the weedy LG pin). broke - was offered a new door at $350! More recently we're getting bubbles of rust on the freezer door around the bottom of the ice maker. Worse point however is it's power consumption - I've measured 4-5KWh/day which at current costs is in excess of $100 per month to keep running... Excellent water/ice machine, fitted space we had nicely (a lot of machines are wider...) cost to run, rust, dodgy tray holder, breaking ice maker.

Great – I have had this fridge for 8 years now and have never had a problem with it. Does its job perfect and I highly recommend this product. After 8 years of use this fridge looks and runs just like new, the seals are still good and there is no leaks from it anywhere. Very reliable, quiet operation. Not a lot of freezer space due to ice maker.

3.5 years fridge tech says trash it – We had 3.5 years of very good operation however fridge was cycling longer and longer over last week. Freezer suddenly stops freezing and fridge is not cold, classic case of leaking refridgerant methinks. Life is not so Good... with our fridge – Fridge is only 5 Years Old, Ice maker stopped working first outside warranty costing $350 to repair, now the handle on the quick access door has broken rendering the door useless. Rust is coming through on the freezer door below the ice maker. I question that this product is of merchantable quality. Keep things frozen in the freezer, keeps things cold in the fridge. Plastics used are of poor quality.

I would not buy any LG product again. Quiet, no mechanical problems.

Temperature control good. Poor quality plastics - crisper drawer extensions broken off, sides cracked. cracks appearing in unstressed parts of plastics - surrounds to glass shelves.

Finger latch used to open milk hatch has split vertically into two - can only be accessed by 2 fingers so not overstressed!

Interior room not well planned - not as roomy as at first appears.

LG not interested in problems.

The twin zone system seems to work great. twin zone system, nice and quiet Poor quality plastics, not worth the price when you can buy better brands for the same price.

Good – I love the water and ice machine on this fridge. You can have crushed ice or blocks, saves you time and the hassle of trying to get the ice out from the trays. This fridge does it all for you. that made about double the quantity. I don't like the gaps at the back of the shelves in the refrigerator as I have dropped smaller jars and items down there before. Also, the freezer is a little small for a larger family - I have a second freezer, but if this was my only one, I couldn't manage on a weekly basis.
