All problems, had for 1 and half years, and already not working – I've had this fridge for 1yr and a half and its been all problems. The fan gets freezed up every now and then. Had to change the filter early, had to change the thermometer. and now the motor/compressor isn't working anymore. to fix the motor ive been quoted $600-$700 and definetly wasn't worth it.So i just bought a new fridge. Very dissapointed LG  Show details

Not happy – I bought mine around August 2010. The freezer is now not working, and a fridge repairer said it's likely to be a gas leak (determined by finding ice formed exactly where he said it would be - halfway down the freezer's inside back panel, on the left hand side). He advised that these LG fridges had a habit of doing that at about the length of… Read more

time I've had mine. I rang LG, who gave me the number of a repairperson who doesn't service my area, and couldn't regas it anyway. I rang LG back, and they want the EXACT date of purchase (which I don't have) for warrantee purposes. I asked that they tell me whether a gas leak is covered within the 3 yr part of their warrantee, or the 5 yr part. If I knew that, it would tell me whether I needed to go to the vendor to try and get the exact date, because if it's the 3 yr part, it's not covered, and this would be a waste of time. However, she wouldn't budge from her position. Frustrating!

Other than that, not a bad fridge, although the freezer LED light hasn't worked since day 1.

LG GR-P247STSL Fridge – The fridge fan froze up three times lg repaired it three times. The fourth time i waited two months for them to get parts with no fridge. They told me to get a esky. I have nine kids so i had to buy them lunch and milk every day aswell as i could only get small amounts of food for dinners like shopping wasnt hard enough already. They wouldnt give… Read more

a loan fridge or pay for a rental but wait theres more then i lost it. They replaced the fridge and the new one has done the same thing three times told them i want my money back they made me wait a week and ahalf for a reply then they said they will give my money back in store credit wich is fine but mentioned compensation to the value of $1500 wich i think is more than fair, they replied with no we arent doing that. I am taking leagal action due to i dont think we as consumers should be pushed around by these guys we pay there prices. Whats the world coming to all this awsome technology spent on over priced products and you are told to get a chillibin what a joke do yourself a favour dont by lg anything maybe they will go broke just like the people who purchase there junk in downtime and repairs lg sux ps the one star at the top is only because you cant proceed unless you put one happy reading. It looks nice

Excellent – We had a very expensive US fridge ($8000) before this which stopped working due to a compressor and electronics failure. It’s a great looking fridge (even now when it’s not working) but repairs were the cost of the LG with 6 years warranty. We spent a year deliberating about this purchase, looked at all alternatives in the market and I even bought… Read more

a smaller fridge (F&P straight fridge with 6 stars) in the meantime for our use. We did not like the earlier model of this LG fridge but this one hit the mark and having used it for nearly three months I can unreservedly recommend this product. This fridge has clean and sophisticated lines. Its outside is stainless steel but with a coating that makes cleaning much easier than our previous fridge. It has a door in the fridge that allows access to drinks and other goods. I thought this might be a gimmick at first but it does work with 4 children and hot days allowing access without unnecessary cooling of the fridge. It has three drawers in the fridge and drawers in the freezer which are useful for compartmentalising food products and the action on them is solid and strong. This is unlike many other fridges on the market where the family shopping might feel like it would break the drawers of some they are so tinny. This was a very strong selling point for us. One of the drawers has an air excluder that seems to work quite efficiently and do as it says, which is a bonus. The LED lights are excellent, giving a clear view of contents, one of the best I have seen on the market. The shelves are like our expensive US fridge in design as well as the deep door drawers, although the plastic quality and glass thickness is not as high a quality (but the fridge is a third the price, you get what you pay for) and I am confident they will last the 10 years of the fridge life we expect. It has a linear compressor with a 10 year warranty (only newly developed in the past ten years and a more efficient design). The ice maker is in the freezer drawer which gives more space for the freezer compartment. People comment favourably on its looks, which wasn’t a key issue in our purchase but I always think good design is a reflection of good engineering or vice versa so I am happy to add this as a pro. It is an easy fridge to live with and like most good products you enjoy using it, which is a key indicator of value for money. The small door in the fridge could have had a better feel engineered into its closure catch. Don’t misunderstand my comment, iIt works but I wonder if it is a weakpoint in design because there is no positive click for feedback to the user. In addition, there is a simple indentation that you push to open it that could be worn after repeated use. Not the stainless itself, but the coating after a number of years. It’s a pretty minor gripe really. One other issue to do with the door is the small poly ledge in the top half which I might concede is useful for cheese or something small but it is hard to access from the front. There is a protrusion on the top of the fridge that we don’t see as ours is built in, but if the fridge was on show might look strange. On the other hand it probably makes servicing easier. One other issue although I am grasping for negative issues is the temperature electronic indicators. They indicate desired temperature and not actual temperature of the fridge ie; you set it and the fridge works to maintain that. I bought a fridge thermometer as a result but can report that -22C is exactly what I got after a days adjustment and the fridge kept a steady 4-5C as I dialled. I guess the point is you just want to know it works and set and forget is OK with this fridge.

Not happy – Purchased 18 months ago. Freezer fan ices up, fixed 3 x so far, exactly same fix done every time so not confidant it will last. Spent 12k on appliances after building new house, only 2 products we have had to have serviced are LG fridge and LG television. Will be the last LG product we ever buy again. It is unreliable.

LG you should be ashamed!! – I have complained since since day 1 as the ice maker crushes the ice and doesn't produce nice ice blocks. Metropolitan appliances have replaced the ice maker twice and after pursuing the issue with Rick Hart Osborne Park then Consumer Protection I have to just put up with it!!! The customer service at all of these places is atrocious and I would… Read more

recommend that you do not purchase a LG fridge.

Hey try a Samsung Hey it looks good but looks are deceiving It's rather sticks out alot from the wall and also it very narrow I wouldn't buy a side by side again would go for a french door, and see above for the crappy faulty ice maker

The most unreliable fridge ever!! – We bought this in Oct 2010 and it has now failed for a second time (Dec 2011). Everyone knows fridges are so important to every day living and an unreliable fridge is a nightmare! Don't buy an LG side by side fridge freezer! Last time it was a motor and circuitry - what next? If you don't use the icemaker every day it will clog up and the only way… Read more

to fix the problem is to remove it, thaw it out and start again. The worst fridge I've ever owned. Anyone want a cheap second hand fridge with extended warranty? I went to Clive Anthonys to buy a Bosch fridge and the salesman talked me into the LG because of the bigger freezer...grrr Freezer space Unreliable

Just doesn't work properly – Bought this to replace a 25 year old GE which had worked up until it suddenly died of old age. What a mistake. Icemaker makes about 1 cube a day. Thermostat on fridge went crazy a couple of months after purchase. After placing a thermometer in the fridge, we could see that the temperature varied from 1 degree to minus 20 depending on which shelf… Read more

the themometer was on. This was fixed under warranty and when we complained about the icemaker, a new one was put in, but that still is lucky to make 2 ice cubes a day.

Looking now to sell this one and buy something that will work in our (Brisbane )climate because this LG one sure doesn't.

So far an excellent choice – This fridge is very quiet. It has some odd noises but still very quiet. The ice maker whirs and clicks then the water fills the tray again which is brief but quite audible. Our preveious fridges made alot of noise, pidgeon pair F&. The fruit and veg draws are large easy to use. we are still adjusting the various heights of the glass shelves but it… Read more ·  1

has only been 3 months since installation. Its a large fridge to shift by yourself and heavy. Rolls on our vinyl floor but sinks in when positioned permanently, making pulling out a bit tricky. Easy to clean shelves and outside face, does show marks much more than old white fridge, maybe I just being fussy. The bottom shelf in door is hidden and is often overlooked when trying to locate something, product may well pass its use by date. Huge capacity, Icemaker in freezer door brilliant design. Excellent lighting with LEDs. Reasonable price when bought on sale. Its a very deep fridge , sticks out of cupboards much more than I imagined. Doors are twice as thick as old fridge.
