LG LS50-B11A

Terrible – If LG charge a wholesaler $44 AU plus $14 postage to fix one of their design faults, which LG do not have to even install, rather than doing it for cost, they have no interest in keeping their current customers happy. Therefore, they only care about new sales. On that basis I will no longer consider LG as an option for any IT equipment. I am the IT administrator for a large corporate organisation that had previously used Compaq and IBM Laptops. After the crap ive been through, I'll be going back to IBM or Compaq/HP from now on.
I have also repaired notebooks from every brand over the last 6 years and have seen plenty with damaged ports caused by abuse/misuse. I can usually tell whether something was stupidly designed, and the dc port on the LG is one of those things. Thats my rant. It does what most other notebooks do for around the same price. customer has 2x LS50 series notebooks. Both had to be repaired under warranty for damaged dc ports. They are no longer under warranty and the ports have broken again on both laptops. these laptops live on desks, they are not carried around, taken home, used on laps.... so the dc ports should not be damaged that easily. THIS LAPTOP IS POORLY DESIGNED. and LG refuse to repair either without payment. After dismantling the laptop - the dc port is surrounded by an (negative) chasis with no insulation. Just thee slightest movement, and bang, youve just shorted your notebook, your charger or both. LG, you made a crap notebook, you could at least send the part at your cost price, rather than charge $AU44 (wholesale) for a 5cm long board with 1x dc port, 1x RJ11 and 1x by RJ45 port, plus three capacitors....total retail value of about $2.00. in parts.
