Worst dryer – This is a horrible dryer! Takes forever to dry clothes, they can become musty it takes so long. Only rolls in one direction so sheets turn into big knot and don’t dry!!! WORST dryer I’ve ever owned.... end up spinning for longer so not eco at all!! I do not recommend it! Show details
Worse purchase ever – 4 warranty claims, it has now been designated a lemon. In the 4 years I have had it, it has spent months at a time unable to be used. Constant sensors errors saying the filter needs to be emptied (when it is already empty) or that the water tank is full (when it was bone dry), even when we had redirected via the hose to the sink and other error… Read more
codes. Thankfully I have a refund, but as I have bought the matching washer I am now left deciding whether to get the new model of this (possibly brought in to replace this now discontinueed model - hopefully the issues have been fixed or buy a mismatch for my pigeon pair in a different brand.
Piece of crap – I own and love all of my lg products which is everything in my house but this dryer is the biggest piece of crap i have. it would take up to 3 hrs to dry clothes but now it takes up to 3 x as long all i can say its going to the dump. biggest waste of money i have ever spent. Hi – we just bought one of these dryers, we are going to read the manual very well to understand how to use it. Has everyone here really read the manual. I wonder how many of these machines were built. 10 reviews of bad luck seems odd for it to get a bad wrap. Wish me luck Show details
Typical – Started ok. 6 months later noisy and constant stoppage due to water tank full message, even though connected directly to drain. Show details
Awful quality control – The first few months of owning this dryer was fine and it does dry in acceptable time if on right setting. The problem is a constant high pitch squeal related to the drum or internal part. The noise is so loud it travels through the house and wakes the kids up sometimes. We have had it repaired once already but since we started using the dryer the… Read more
noise has come back again. I'm going to seek a refund as it is evident that the dryer is badly designed from the outset - I noticed that after filter self cleans the noise seems to go away and there is no way to manually clean filter with this model.
Needs to be installed at least 30cm from a wall – My new dryer just arrived and I am rather upset to discover it must be installed a minimum 30 cm from a wall. So, unless you want a dryer in the middle of your laundry do not bother buying. It also needs a water connection. LG have confirmed the installation instruction is correct. Update: 7 years on and this dryer is still working. The biggest… Read more
issue I have is that the only cycle that includes reverse spinning (so your items don't end up in a sodden ball) is the mixed items cycle. This means that really despite there being lots of functions only 1 is suitable for drying a full load. The dryer also promotes itself as having 'sensor drying and therefore being efficient. I call this a load of rubbish. It never senses when anything is dry. If I had more energy I'd be inclined to raise with LG that they appear to have made misrepresentations with the product. But overall the dryer does work, it doesn't seem to cost a fortune in energy bills and I have (so far) got 7 years worth of drying. I live where I only need to use this in winter so it probably only gets used 4-5 months a year.
If you are getting a heat pump dryer I would recommend a water connection because this means it cleans the bits that need cleaning automatically.
WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY, CONSTANT DAMP TANGLED CLOTHES, DOES NOT REDUCE DRYING TIME!!! – For the first time in my life i had all but trusted LG products until i have come across this useless piece of junk! From the beginning i have noticed that my clothes will not dry on its first cycle but will take up to 3 to fully dry. which will require almost 3 hours! The laundry will get hot which you will have to open the door and you are asked… Read more
to constantly check and clean the water and lint from both areas which i could not get why when it self cleans...Sensor dry my behind. The machine will not stop when the clothes are dry but continue. I will be notifying the company from which i had bought it from as i am covered with an extended warrantee and believe me i will ask for my money back if i am unhappy with the result. It is not only a waste of time but money also. Seriously do not buy unless you want to be disappointed.
Don't buy – We've had this machine for a year and have on going problems with it. Why is it that every six months we have to make a call for someone to fix this. Way overpriced and a waste of time really. Doesn't dry clothes properly, leaving them damp most times. Not a satisfied customer at all.
worst 17months of my life!! – Machine failed within 6 months, terrible customer service from LG was going to take 6 weeks for new part so they replaced with new machine. New machine worked for 7months before breaking down, leaking water, error message saying filter full when it wasn't. Took 3 weeks to fix the problem due to LG not responding to service centre. 3 months later,… Read more
same problem and have just today been told LG will be giving a full refund. Can't help but wonder if this is a common fault and what would've happened if we didn't purchase the extended warranty. This dryer has put me off all LG products!!! I could've purchased a car for the price and I expected a superior product for the outlay. I was wrong.
Waste of time and money! – We bought this dryer thinking we were doing the right thing enviromentally-6 stars is hard to beat. Well, we were wrong! This dryer does not dry clothes fully on any setting-they always feel a little damp. Worst of all, we have had this machine for nearly a year and now the thing keeps telling us to empty the water condenser when it's empty or… Read more
clean lint tray after we have cleaned it with a cotton bud. It does this all the way through any cycle we put it on until, frustrated beyond belief, we put the clothes over a rail to dry. Sheets are a nightmare as they are rolled into a ball and when unwound are still wet. This machine cost a packet for very little result. Maybe I should have just replaced my 3 star 10 year old Ariston with another one instead of this highly expensive piece of junk.
The biggest waste of money I have ever spent – Absolute junk, seems to only warm clothes up and hardly dries them, 2 x 3 hour cycles and they are getting dry but thats about it. The one we chucked out was very old but infinitely better.
Broke down after 7 months, LG Care is Appalling – 1. It drys clothes quite well in about 1.5 hours. 2. It rolls large sheets into a ball, which requires constant stopping and untangling. Contrary to what some others had said it only reverses the drum on the "Mixed Fabrics" cycle and only for 10 seconds every 2 minutes, which does not stop the sheets rolling up into a ball. 3. The condenser… Read more
self cleaning system broke down after only 7 months of use.
4. The worst thing has been the quality of service from LG Care.
- First the call centre is located in the Philippines and it is very difficult to understand the representatives because of the heavy accents and the poor call quality.
- The rep I spoke to had no troubleshooting information on my particular dryer, so I booked a repair call, and was told I would be contacted by the repairer in 48 hrs.
- I didn't hear anything in 48hrs so I called LG Care again, after being kept on hold for 15 minutes I was told my repair booking had been cancelled because the repair agent was closed for Xmas break.
- If the service agent has a long break over Xmas that is fair enough but no one from LG Care had bothered to call me to say the repair call was cancelled.
- I complained to the LG Care rep, she said she would see what she could do and call me back.
- While I was waiting for the call back I did an internet search and found the service agent LG Care had booked was over 80 km away. I then did a search for a local agent and found an authorised LG service agent only 18km away. I called the local service agent, they were still open and made a booking for the Monday after Xmas. If LG Care had booked the local agent I would have had a repair call before Xmas.
- When the LG care person called back I asked to speak to the manager, after being on hold for another 15 minutes, I related the whole story, he took absolutely no responsibility for the appalling service experience and blamed LG’s computer systems.
- I said I wasn’t happy and would call LG Australia. I called LG Australia and the receptionist said there was no one in Australia I could talk to.
Given this experience I won’t be buying another LG appliance.
It appears there is a design fault with the dryer's self cleaning function, if it gets blocked it… Read more (+1 reply)
Great dryer - just be aware much slower than conventional – This is a great dryer so far. We are used to American gas dryers which naturally are much larger internally and they dry clothes a faster than this dryer does, even on the SPEED setting, which frustrates my wife. The key is that it dries them is a gentler way so it should extend the life of your clothes. So long as you understand this then it is… Read more · 5
a great dryer that "sings" to you as many have said :-)
Our drum does NOT rotate in both directions (only clockwise) on any of the settings I have tried (mixed, bulky etc) so either the review that is posted saying it does is not true (fake) or ours is defective. So large items are in a ball and constantly have to be removed to open them up. Not fun when you have 4 or 5 loads of sheets and mattress covers etc
