I have had a few issues with this machine. Frankly, given the expense would have expected less problems large items always roll into a tight ball when drying, so you have to keep monitoring the machine. Our last (much less expensive) dryer had a reverse function, so this didn't happen Also if you don't use the machine very regularly it starts to smell, even if you empty the water reservoir and clean out the lint in the filter Had called LG about the last issue several times, and they were no help at all I guess it says it all that they haven't made any responses to the posts made from others either

I'm not sure how long you've had this dryer but the LG TD 901H was discontinued. I had a lot of problems with mine. After the 4th callout under extended warranty they refunded my money due to it being faulty. I replaced it with the LG 8kg Eco dry, (because I had the matching front loader, and I've had no issues with this new model dryer. In saying that, all dryers seem to roll sheets up in a ball, without that reverse spin. I've found no solution to that. Only to take it out un-ball it and put it back in again.

Took apart dryer. Cleaned parts. Still leaking at the bottom. Anyone have any ideas on probable cause. I really don't want to have to get it repaired again.

I want to know is there a method of stopping sheets and doona covers from rolling into tight ball. Can I get it to reverse as this would solve the problem?

As far as I have read, it seems all brands do this to some extent, none seem to have a reverse cycle to prevent it, (if that is the solution?).

I have problem with my dryer that on display show please replace the filter.

I been told from one customer service from LG to replace the sensor.

I disassemble the dryer, cleaning everything, install three new sensor one near the filter slot wall 3 mm away from the filter, one in front of the fan, and one that detects the humidity, those are all the sensor located in that area, assembling everything, start the unit and again show the same thing replace the filter.

Please can someone help me identify the problem? Thanks.

How do I stop large items (e.g. sheets) spinning into a ball and not drying? We're resorting to having to hang sheets on the line in the middle of a wet winter!

I have the same problem and I have noticed that the drum only spins in a clockwise direction, I think that is the cause of the problem. Most modern dryers spin in both directions to avoid this problem.

Hi - wondered if anyone is having the same problem as myself? the Dryer just seems to roll the garments into a tight ball, so the middle of the garments never get dry, doesnt matter how many times I readjust the garments, after a few minuets everything is all wound up into a ball again. I never had any problems with my previous LG dryer.

Is it possible to operate this dryer without attaching it to a water supply? Turns out I was mesmerized by the energy rating and the option for "speed" drying if and when required. That I never found out that it needs water. Delivery man and I were both confused when the box was leaking water. Once unpacked I read that it needs to be connected to a cold water supply. :( Our laundry is not able to house the dryer so it has to stand in the garage, which doesn't have any plumbing. We will have to have it plumbed but that will most likely only happen in 2 months time. Will my dryer be standing in the garage gathering dust until then?

No, I remember thinking I would try to use it without hooking it up. It just doesn't work unless it is connected.

This dreadful machine does need to be connected to a cold water supply- God knows why! The condenser extracts so much water then you have to pull out the water container carefully and carry over to sink and empty. Can't you take it back if it is unused? If you did not have the machine capabilities, wants and needs explained in detail and were unaware that it needed to be hooked up to a water supply perhaps the retailer would consider swapping to a decent brand. Read my review on '' All my Christmas presents in one box" for the Miele dryer. By the way, why did your new dryer leak water? Was it a demonstration model? I urge you to take it back, they are nothing but trouble. Read my review on "' Waste of time and money'! Hope this helps.

Thanks for your response Michele. I had to wait for the stupid thing to be imported from heaven knows where so it should never have been used. I bought it from The Good Guys. No one said anything about a water connection. Do you think they will take it back eventough it has been completely un boxed but not used?

Hi, we are considering getting one of these, however on inspecting the installation section of the manual, it states that the machine needs to be located between 30cm and 50cm from the rear wall. (and if under a benchtop, it needs to have 30 to 50cm of airspace on either side as well)

How did you install the machine? is it that far out from the wall?

If it is closer to the wall, does it impact its performance?

If it is closer to the wall, does it impact on its reliability and warranty?

All the other Heat pumps seem designed to be placed up against the rear wall and under a bench, this one seems designed to be placed in the middle of the room?!?

Ours is free standing next to its sister washer and not under a counter. It Is probably only about 10cm from the wall as I had not read about any 30-50cm. Upon reading the manual it indicated that the 30-50cm is ONLY if mounted under a counter. The diagram further down does also show 30-50cm but there is not written indication.

I read a response in an LG forum that this is a typo. Should be 3 CM

Hi there

Have you notice a large increase in your power bill since getting this? I am wanting to buy one and trying to keep my power bill down is a huge issue. Currently when using the dryer we have already a lot in winter I am paying $900 per two monthly bill.

Hi, that's a good question. Our power usage has actually gone down since we bough the dryer. I was very interested in finding out how much power it actually uses, so I bought one of those plug-in power meters from Jaycar and tested the dryer. I was amazed to see that the dryer consumed only 600 watts on the eco setting (heat pump only setting). When you first start the dryer, the power is gradually increased starting at about 200 watts and going up to 600 watts after several minutes of running on the cottons cycle. That's less than a third of the power that conventional dryers use! If you use the "speed" option, the dryer uses a heating element as well as the heat pump, and the power meter reads 1800 watts. We mostly use the eco setting and the clothes dry in about the same amount of time as a conventional dryer. Hope this helps!

Yes, very happy with the dryer, it's still working like new. Cheers.

Sorry one more question - does it have to be connected to the cold water for everything or just the steam option? I might have an issue as my lg front loader has been built under my laundry counter - with no room next to it for this (due to a sink). I can't stack it unless I remove part of my bench, so I was just going to sit it on the bench and plug into a power point. My husband will kill me of he needs to redesign the entire laundry!!!

Hercule1
Hercule1

Hi, no problem! According to the user manual, the dryer "must be connected to the cold water tap". I think this is so it can automatically clean the condenser, which is done several times during a cycle. An animated shower display comes up & its says "Self Cleaning", and you can hear water being sprayed inside somewhere. The water is then pumped out into the laundry trough. It's a great time saver as you never have to clean it yourself. No having to take the condenser out, flush it out & clean all around the seals etc. And the self cleaning keeps the dryer working at maximum efficiency all the time.

Personally I think it's worth putting in a cold water connection for this. Hope this helps :-)

HI Hercule1, Was wondering how the dryer is going. We are after a new dryer (after 25yrs on the old one) and considering a heat pump dryer. Would like to know if you have had any problems with this machine. Cheers.

Hi craigs902, we've been using the dryer since August 2013 and I'm pleased to say it's still working brilliantly! No problems, and no service calls! :-)

How long does an average mixed load of clothes take in this machine, website says 35 mins per kg making it about 5hrs - surely wouldn't take that long would it?

Hercule1
Hercule1

Hi mazstar1980, the average load takes about 60 to 90 minutes using the "eco" setting which uses the heat pump. I think the longest we've noticed would be about 2 hours for a large load. Even faster if you select the Speed setting, which uses the heating element as well as the heat pump. We don't use the speed setting much as it consumes more power. But it's nice to have that option available. :-)
