One of the best washing machines I have ever owned! – This washer made me realize my last washing machine definitely was not washing my clothes properly and had bought that from new! The washer dryer part is excellent if you know how to use it.. If I have a full load I just take out half..usually towels and the such and put in the regular dryer and have both machines drying at the same time.… Read more

Alternatively if you only have the allowed drying load limit you can put your washing on and come back to it dried. All cycles are extremely quiet. If you have complaints about the drying part of these machines, I would guess your not sticking to the weight limit for drying as I’ve never had a problem. I loved this machine so much I went on to buy the 10kg model..

Will NEVER buy another LG product ever again! – It washes well just like you would expect a washing machine to wash but the On/Off Button already came off in the second year and the other buttons, that you use frequently, you can see they are all crooked. Of course Buttons coming off isn't covered in the Warranty, and I wonder why not? Now I have to put my finger into the hole and turn the… Read more

machine on in this way.

After 6 years it needed a new drain pump and that wasn't covered in the Warranty either, not even in the extra Warranty that I got for it. So much for extra-cover Warranties, they are useless and I never purchase them again.

It uses very very little water, too little in my opinion, especially if you got Pets and pet hair. I've attached a hose from my Laundry tap so I can put in extra water into the machine through it's soap dish. That was an extra trip to Bunnings and costs which I wouldn't have required if the machine had adequate water levels.

The noise it makes is just dreadful, especially the Chimes which are way too LOUD! There is no way to turn the damn Chimes off so I have to grin and bear them. I look forward to getting rid of this machine and will NEVER buy any LG product ever again!

Fantastic Washer – I have had this for 10 years and it's still in great condition and I'm very happy with it. The wash cycles can be adjusted to suit. I find 30 minutes is fine. I also love the freshen up cycle which I use on my doona or woolies.I do three to four loads of washing a week and the clothes are always clean and soft, and I don't use fabric softener. … Read more

The dryer does take longer than normal dryers but the result is worth the time. My husband and I chose this model because it was combo and we also added bottom drawers , which can be purchased at an extra cost. I fit all my laundry needs in the drawers.I just recently had to call customer service for a new hose and other minor parts. The washer/dryer isn't cheap but well worth the money.

Dampness not an issue anymore – Just wanted to quickly add my 2 cents regarding the claims that it won't dry properly. Or if like me, you freaked out when it got stuck with 6 minutes to go on the dry cycle and everything was still wet and despite incredible dry time, everything coming out damp. I bought this 2nd hand and the seller had no communication with me post sale, so… Read more ·  3

I thought I had been sold a faulty machine, as it came with no manuals or anything. However after troubleshooting using the service manual found here http://www.jordansmanuals.com/ServiceManuals/LG/Washing/WD1256RD/WD-1256RD%20Service%20Manual.pdf and the user manual on the LG website I discovered the problem.

For me, the problem with my WD-1256RD not drying properly was solved by doing 3 things (and had nothing to do with sensors or PCBs etc). I believe the first thing was the only one that made the real difference.

1) Lowered the drainage waste tube to less than 1m in height as specified n the user and service manual. I actually have it lower than the exit on the back of the machine now.

2) Cleaned out the pump filter.

3) Unblocked the holes in the bottom of the door seal.

As mentioned though, I believe it was not drying properly primarily because the drain waste pipe was above the specified 1m height and the water not being able to exit the machine properly. In the house I moved into the water water pipe that was pre-built onto the house was about 1.5m high so I just used it as it was there.

It now dries perfectly. And for those of you that have read that these can not dry to fully dry. i.e. they will still be damp. That is not true. They are fully dry. It had nothing to do with the sensors (which I couldn't locate anyway) in my case. By dry, i mean dry dry. No wet whatsoever. I believe this advice would apply to all LG and possibly Samsung as well Condenser Drying Units.

PS, as for a review: I would now say it is great. Though it is very un-intuitive! Read the manual. The wash/spin/dry cycle are not outrageous as others claim. A 30min quick wash followed by high spin and dry takes about 3 hours from dirty to dry. Sweet on a rainy day like today! Set and forget. Set and forget dirty to clean and dry, huge wash capacity, plenty of options Unintuitive user interface and sub par manual, huge unit, text on facia has all rubbed off, paint off on top but not sure when or why as it is 2nd hand

Awesome wash, adequate dry, low water and power use, ok repair experience - cant complain – Had it for 3 years, and unlike some writers here, it semms I knew what I was buying. The wash is great, but you have to understand front loader washing. The dry is also great, but again you need to understand evaporative drying using heat and condensation as this unit does. If so you will understand that you trade cycle time for convenience. The… Read more ·  1

other thing is that you cant expect to wash 10kgs and dry the same load - just wont work and is not supposed to. Will dry 6kgs just, anything less is fine. Had a hose broken by a removalist - repairer was very defensive until he realized we knew what we were doing and weren't using too much powder........fix and fine ever since. Only complaint is that the labels on the dial are now starting to wear off.....common LG, people have fingernails in Korea too surely. Wash, convenience, low water and power, black color is cool.... Labels are wearing off....be careful with removalists

Excellent – When I first saw this machine at all the retailers I was very impressed. The design/style hooked me immediately but more importantly the features, power/water ratings, capacity, built in dryer and 10yr motor warranty it offered had me thinking 'surely this can't be as good as it looks"? There were a few other brands like Miele, Asko & Bosche that… Read more

boasted brand reputation along with engineering/testing methods which would ensure the machine lasted 20yrs. However, these machines were extremely expensive. I'm talking $3500 for a 7kg washer only (no dryer, would have to buy this separately, so at least another $1000 for a decent one)! The tubs on these machines were so small it was a joke. Not to mention the tubs had no angle on them so unless you had it mounted you would have to bend down ridiculously to see what was inside and load/unload clothes. Worse yet, despite the huge price and claims of longevity, the manufacturers still only offered a measly 1-2yr warranty! They won't even back up their claims with a decent warranty which would justify the price tag for such a small machine. Furthermore, Miele will not allow an extended warranty to be issued on their product. So you can't even cover yourself beyond its limited warranty! At this point the LG was looking like the front runner but I NEVER EVER EVER buy anything without doing my homework. So, I went home and read a hundred reviews on this thing and it was split public option. Half the people said it didn't dry properly, the steam didn't work, that it got too hot, that it made too much noise, that it took too long, that the seals went mouldy. The other half said don't know what everyone else is talking about this is a great machine. They said the half that were having problems must not be using it properly. I felt this was probably the case but was still unsure. So, after reading everyone's experience I was very confused because I REALLY wanted this machine, it ticked all the boxes, but at $2800 RRP I didn't want to waste my money. Out of all the bad reviews the common theme was that when they called LG nothing would be covered under warranty because the machine wasn't technically faulty, it just wouldn't do what they wanted. So I found the best price (I paid $1900 cash) and didn't stop there. I got Good Guys to call the LG Rep. I explained to the rep the split reviews and my concerns. I told him the warranty wasn't enough peace of mind because the concern was not a fault issue but a "will this machine do what it says with minimal fuss". The rep was extremely helpful and said he stood by his brand. He said with the Good Guys permission he would allow me to go home, try it out for a few days, and if I wasn't happy I could bring it back as a Dead On Arrival and get a full refund. Good Guys agreed and that's what happened. I was extremely happy because I got an excellent price, great service from both LG rep & Good Guys and the best part....I never had to take it back. It did EXACTLY what I wanted. I am 100% sure that the problems everyone is having is due to incorrect use. This machine is not a stand alone dryer, it is NOT designed to do 6kgs of towels! It's not even designed to do 3kgs of towels. Take your towels out and hang them up outside and just leave the clothes in, it will dry beautifully in 2-3hrs. The seals do NOT go mouldy if you leave the door open after a load for 30mins or so. Be careful with children/pets but if you supervise this then should be fine. Not every load has to be the full cycle! Unless you work in dirty environments or have oil/grass stains, etc on your clothes then the 30min quick was or the Cotton quick setting is more than enough to clean the bacteria, etc. People are doing the full 3hr wash cycle when they just don't need to. It wears out your clothes doing that too. The instruction book is a little bit confusing but if you read it over and over a few times, play around with settings, get brochure/go online then it all makes sense. Make sure your machine is on concrete or tiles and has all the transport bolts removed and is level or else it will make noise. I personally like the little beep at the end. I find it pleasant. Some others might not. I just HAD to write this review for all those people out there like me who want to know that this machine is good- it is! For those who think they wasted their money, you most likely haven't. Very few of you would actually have a faulty machine. The rest would be from improper use or expectations. I have NO regrets or qualms in full heartedly recommending this machine. * Large 10kg/6kg capacity

* Clothes are washed to a high standard

* Reasonably quiet

* Dries well

* Large ANGLED tub- VERY easy access to clothes

* Steam Refresh option works great

* Very customizable- loads of features & options.

* Stylish design, very sleek, modern, looks great with other appliances and overall decor. Guests always comment.

* Strong water/power saving features for such a large machine.

* Condenser dryer needs no external vent. Old dyer heated up entire house because it vented hot air outside the machine. This dryer internalizes this process which is great in summer when thunderstorms mean clothes don't dry but it is still stinking hot!

* Seals, bowl and all other trays, etc are easy to clean and mould free.

* Have had the machine 1 year now and no problems yet. * Instruction book could be written A LOT better. Not very clear. I think this machine has a bad rep because everyone is unclear as to how to use the machine properly but they don't realize this.

Love it – I love it. Very practical for townhouse living. I love the short cycle and great spinning options. This is the second time I have bought this machine. The first one we sold with our previous house. I also bought one for an executive rental apartment that we own. Magic…worth the investment. Very practical for townhouse living. Nothing so far

Excellent – It's a dream come true in the world of washing machines! It's my very first NEW machine ever and it can do it all and save so much water at the same time.It is very quiet and it dings for you when the cycle is finished. sprays from etc. It mentions in the manual how to balance it if on a platform so I am presuming this means I can have a very strong stand made to raise to to a good back height.

Handy hint, don't pay Retail price, hunt online for a bargain price. I managed to get mine for $2099 including delivery! I can't wait to do the doonas etc. It looks so GREAT!!!. It uses very little water. You can over-ride the automatic settings and still do the old basic 30 min COLD wash. The washing comes out smelling so very fresh, no laundry liquid scent, just a clean smell, almost like that sunshine smell when your clothes have been out on the line on a sunny day.The steam re-fresh cycle is like having your very own dry cleaners in the laundry! The light function is fantastic also.( A light turns on in the machine at the beginning and end of each cycle for loading and unloading.)The door opening is huge which makes loading etc very easy. I've only had it 2 weeks so far. It seems to be collecting lint/fluff all around the rubber door lining? It gets VERY hot to touch, keep little ones away. The instruction book could/should be written/edited by an Australian and put into more simple language. The removal of bolts after transporting directions are NOT clear enough. I removed the bolt and tried to pry off the rubber bunger as directed and a long white plastic tube thing came out as well and I thought I had broken the machine. After re looking at the diagram with a magnifying glass(LOL) my daughter pointed out that we had done the correct thing, hence, the manual really needs to be re-written more clearly and simply. I also don't like the little tube and fluff filter thingo right down at the bottom near the floor, it's tricky to get the water out into a bowl/bucket etc from such a low height.

Bad – Washer, good. Dryer, junk. I am going to buy an old fashioned dryer that tumbles clothes and doesn't screw them into a ball. is relatively quiet. Clothes do come out clean. Any long sleeve or long pants come out screwed up like they have been twisted by a drill. If you dry them striaght after they get set like this and make iron oh so fun. It does take a long time to dry and will crease your clothes if you put anything near a full load in. You can't use liquid detergent in this machine because as you load it into the draw it flows out then gets covered by it as you slide the detergeant draw back in.

Bad – I purchased the 10kg model a year ago and thought I was buying a state of the art machine. I have been very disappointed and have wasted $2000.00. The main problem is that it doesn't dry. washing. It gies to 5 - 8 hrs if you want to dry the clothes as well, and even after all that, they are STILL wet!! My advice is save your money and buy 2 separate units, washer and dryer, if you want dry clothes by the end of the day. It looks good and does get the clothes clean. It DOESN'T dry! I have tried everything, they still come out wet. Not dripping wet but still has to be hung out after an 8hr cycle! I have only put in the correct 6kg of washing. It makes quite a bit of noise during the spin cycle. Like an aeroplane landing in the laundry.

Terrible – Even though it claims to be a Washer and Dryer Combo, it's only efficient as a Washing Machine. In other words a LEMON! Washing Machine works ok. working. Removes lint really well. Looks good. Broke down 1 week after warrenty expired and was told tuff. The manual is vague and complex to read. Drying function is confusing. Drying option takes longer than 3 hours for a small load so this was a waste of money. Even the wash cycle is long. I made my husband bring back the old dryer. Requires water for the drying function...why I don't know. Takes up a lot of room and requires a lot of room around it. The underneath draw is VERY expensive.

Excellent – Have had the machine for a few weeks now and had no problems. Instruction manual is pretty hopeless so learnt by trial and error. Excellent – You will love this machine, I can guarantee it. While this machine costs a little more, the investment will pay off big in the long term. And it qualifies for the NSW government water rebates. Where to begin with the pros of this machine? When first start the cycle, it weighs the load and then figures out the time needed to finish the job properly.

There are a ton of options with this machine including variations on material type, different spin cycles, five different drying cycles - the list goes on. The display is larger so you can glance from the laundry door how much longer the load has left and the buttons are larger which makes them easy to press and easy to clean.

If you're still stuck for reasons to buy one of these perhaps it is worth considering its aesthetic appeal. The black one looks very shmick - think about how many times people have said "nice washer" to you? Not for families who have only one wash day.

size, the combo saved on space where the replacement dryer would have gone. Looks great with loads of functions that are not included on most other machines. I like the large opening and the light when the load is finished. Super quiet. The cloths appear to wash up well. The fact that is was a washer / dryer combo was a major plus as to why we 'initially' bought it. The dryer!!!! Big Time!!!! No matter what I did, I could not get the dryer to dry the most basic of loads. Returned to Harvey Normans (Wollongong) who were most helpful in attempting to sort out the problem. Contactd LG Support whilst there to discuss the matter and although I got some ideas, it was a general waste of time. Tried 2 more loads before returning to said HN to get the machine swapped for a different front load washer (Fisher & Paykel) and separate condenser dryer (Fisher & Paykel) which we can stack on top of each other. With the last load taking 7 hrs to dry, and still come out wet ... enough is enough.
