Love it – Does a good job of cleaning and drying clothes. The best feature is the favourite setting - set everything how you want it and save it as a favourite. All I do is throw in clothes and powder, hit favourite, and a few hours later clean and dry clothes come out. That's all I need! Show details
Pile of Garbage - waste of money - noisy - breaks down - runs RED HOT !! – What a piece of crap. Noisy, takes 4 times as long as other machines to do a simple wash CANNOT spin clothes only, need to select RINSE.. WTH? Heat System stopped working after 18 months, heat fan tubes were blocked solid with lint and moisture Spent a whole day trying to unblock the tubes Pump makes SCREAMING noises - The whole machine is garbage and RUNS RED HOT on drying, BURN HAZARD, and I fear fire hazard. Very unreliable machine – Machine seems to do a good job washing clothes, but is slow to dry as others have said. The main problem though is that it has broken down three times now, admittedly over 7 years, but I expect better. Broke down after 4 years, then after 6 years it pretty much destroyed all if its insides when the entire drum housing came loose. Now it has… Read more
stopped working again - no response at all when you press the power button, so presumably an electrical fault of some kind. Not happy LG!!! Turns me off the brand all together!

Its awesome i love!!!! in winter the dryer works perfect – I use it on 1400rpm in winter. So I love how it has that much rpm's. Also when you put it on that rpm it dries better. it's gentle on your clothes so it doesn't ruin them. The drying times are excellent as well because it has 30 minutes if your clothes are just a little wet 60 minutes if they are wet and 120 minutes for towels. I just love it!!! saves energy expensive
Great! – Relatively quiet, easy to use, serves up good results most every time. My previous washer dryer was very noisy, so I was delighted to discover that this was much quieter, aswell as being powerful. I've owned it for almost a year now with no problems. It's reliable and offers a useful variety of wash cycles....my main complaint is that like most… Read more · 1
washer dryers it only dries half a load - which is a pain in winter, but nevertheless it's great to save the space. easy to use, relatively quiet, offers a range of functionalities, reliable Like all washer dryers it can't dry a full load, so you end up doing a lot of washing and drying in winter - after the drying cycle the machine stays on until you come home and turn it off
a few tips to get the best out of the machine – I hated mine for about 6 months. Because i paid such a high price i was disappointed that it took so long on the dry cycle. I started to experiment with the machine to work out how to stop it from taking 7 hours to get through i wash/dry. 1. Use liquid (heavy duty) of any brand 2. Use the tub wash function and empty the filter every 2 washes 3.… Read more
When its done its wash dry cycle and starts its cool down mode, turn it off at the power source then swith it back on straight away, go have a drink or a snack. and come back and the door is unlocked and your clothes will be steaming hot to put straight in your cupboard. I couldn't live without it now. I've done 5 loads today alone! quite, space saving, looks fancy I broke the silver ring holding the rubber lining in to secure the door. A few cable ties and scissors fixed it.

Piece of junk waste of money – Had this lg washer dryer combo for 5 years , water pump chucked it in at 4 years. $ 150 to get that fixed , making a rattly noise when spinning out main bearing gone . Got quoted $650 to fix it , gone to the tip brought a new machine not LG though. Show details
Can't wait to get a new machine – Received this second hand from a friend and at this point I'd pay them to take it back. Every load is an ordeal. It takes forever to wash anything and when you want to dry something, prepare for a long wait. It goes into a cool down phase that takes hours, and by the time you pull the clothes out they're all horribly crinkled. Won't ever buy anything LG in the future. Show details
LGWD - Lemon – Plastic casing around steel drum has punctured a couple of times. Obviously, a screw or nail has come out of my shorts through the drum; squeezed between the steel and plastic...and then ripped the plastic. Expensive junk. 10 year motor warranty is like giving you a 100 year replacement warranty on the seat-belt of your car. Useless. Show details

Excessive Creasing - beware! – I bought the machine 2nd-hand. I've used a washing machine cleaner but still find a weird smell attaching to clothes (mostly my towels), like motor oil. All clothes and bedding come out of the machine very creased meaning everything has to be ironed, something I didn't have to do when using my separate dryer.
Beware of quick cycle trap! – Bought this washer dryer combo in July 2011, in the last 4 1/2 years it has required repair 4 times, including changing the drainage pump, the re circulation pump amongst other things. Having said that, all in in all it has been a great machine. the STICKING POINT IS THAT IF YOU CONSTANTLY USE THESE MACHINES ON QUICK CYCLE THE WEAR AND TEAR is… Read more
significant. This is perfectly logical but this hadn't occurred to me and being time poor I began to rely on this cycle as my staple even for full loads... Why wouldn't you? Perfect results in 45 mins. The appliance repairman finally let me in on this logic after I drilled him about the amount of repairs. I don't think the machine would have required so many repairs if I'd stuck to the long cycles. The great benefit of the 'quick cycle ' has been negated by the need for repairs. I love the space it saves as a combo but I'm hoping to get 5 years out of the machine now that I stick to full cycles for full loads. Always optimistic!
What An Expensive Piece Of Junk – I paid nearly $1400 for this machine, didn't know when I purchased it that the drying cycle took about 4 hours. So I have never used the dryer. Only 4 years old very little use and now bearings gone, quoted about $600 to fix it. That was not including the $110 I paid for the service man to tell me it was the bearing. An expensive peace of junk sums it up.
Not build to last – worked fine for about 5 years until the main bearing decided to give away, the parts itself is cheap but labor cost is too expensive, for an expensive machine they have designed it to fail. if you ever buy an LG get the cheaper ones to justify throwing it away around the 5 year mark.

This is terrible!!! – I was excited when i 1st saw this in our new home, i thouger & stuff. That didn't last long! The 1st time i used it i was wishing for my old washer & dryer! then put on how long you want to dry it for. The worst washer & dryer i've ever used would take me 3 hours to wash & dry a load of clothes, this takes me about 6! It steam dries your clothes, it takes forever to get them done! I washed a load of my sons t-shirts & it took 3&1/2 hours just to dry! I can't wait to get something else!
This is a waste of money, time & space! It's loud too! If i have a load in & can't go to bed until it's done because it makes so much noise we can't sleep! Now there's a problem & every time i go to do a load on any setting other than fast wash an "oe" comes on the screen & it won't work! What that means, i have no clue! It's frustrating because it shouldn't be so much trouble just to do my laundry!! Don't waste your money on this!! Shop around, i'm sure you'll find something much better!! If i could've given it 0 stars i would have!! Awful!!!
Design is flawed, customer service worse – We had issues with plastic components connected to the motor (now metal). LG only guarantees the motor itself for 10 years, even though they are clearly aware of the design issue. Customer service is a joke, they appear scripted not to payout. I vow never to buy another LG appliance.
too many issues – Worked well for a few years then it started making very loud noises (during the spin cycle) - had it repaired for $200 (plastic Rotor which has been superseded by a metal Rotor). Less than 6 months later the machine started making noises again, this time it was the Bearing at a cost of $700. Placed the machine on the curb and purchased a competitor’s machine - would not recommend.
LG LOW GRADE – It is remarkable how many people have the same problem with the LG WD range and, as one person said why would you have 10 year gaurentee on the motor written in your face on the product when LG knows very well that The rest of the washer dryer will not come any where near lasting that long with its design faults. I will never buy any product wit LG on it ever again I paid over $2000.00 dollars for my washer dryer and it has been nothing but trouble.
Not fit for purpose – Totally agree with the last reviewer: My machine is exactly 4.5 years old and has had extensive major repairs already done. I have now been quoted nearly $1000 to replace the drum and bearings for the second time (first time after 2 years ago), and been recommended to replace the rotor and stator covered by the 10 year guarantee. washing machine for $1660 and to date have been quoted $2157 all up in services/repairs. I originally bought extended warranty only to discover after 2.5 years that the company had folded.
I have been advised by someone in the servicing industry that these major repairs do not last. I have also been told by an expert bearing engineer that cost cutting and bad engineering leads to the seals wearing, followed by leaks on the bearings and motor which then do not last long at all. When the servicemen carried out the repairs 2 years ago and opened up the inside of my machine, it was saturated in rust stains. This review substantiates all the other bad reviews of this LG product, I will not buy LG again and wish I had read these reviews before deciding to buy this.
Expensive crap!!!!!!! – Doesn't last even five years. This is the fourth time its stuffed in less than five years. And yes now the main controller and power pcb board. Mechanic reckons LG is using cheap crap inside and gives good look out side. Costing me about $500 to repair. I already spend too much on repairs. Its not worth to repair again. combos to anyone. They are too expensive and doesn't last long. Lg doesn't care about customers. All the reviews are almost same . Broken few times specialy bearings. LG should recall this product. And refund the money back to customers, because customers spent nearly $2000 on this in a hope that it's gonna last and do the job. But it fails to do so. Better buy cheap like Hisense and you will get three years in home warranty. So you don't have to worry about three years, and its gonna last same as expensive one.
Just outlasted the warranty period – I agree with the other reviews. A disastrous purchase for us! Given that all of our LG products seem to have barely survived their warranty period, I'm done with LG. Dealing with the company only led to more frustration. They clearly don't care.
As Above: three year failure – As with other reviews, we were reasonably happy with this model as a washer, but a lousy drier. At 18 months, it seized up and had the "stator" replaced, whatever that is, but under warranty. Now at 3 years, the drum bearings have gone and the machine is shaking itself to pieces with the spin. $500 at least for parts alone. Needless to say… Read more
I'll be getting a decent washer (Miele) to replace it, and probably a cheap drier for now. This is really pretty disgraceful when you look across the reviews posted here, and consider the money outlaid just 3 years ago. Looks good, warm and reassuring chime at end of cycle. Terrible quality.
Dont buy any LG washing machines – Purchased a LG wd10340rd Washer/Dryer combo. Dryer does not work, drum bearings have been replaced twice. Now the drum bearings have gone again. This machine is only 4 years old & cost $1650. Now the replacement parts are over $700.00 plus labour @ of cause LG dont even want to know!!! Dryer is hopless, the drum bearings keep need replacing.

What an absolute lemon – The washing machine has both washing and drying functionality. It is very expensive, but supposedly saves you on buying two separate machines, and a real space saver. The washing machine cycle is very good. No complaints. After that, it's all downhill. The dryer is an absolute lemon. Don't buy this type of machine, full stop. It never… Read more
really dried the clothes properly. We hardly use the dryer, even when it rains we have under cover clothes drying area, so the only times we used it were when we needed to dry the clothes within several hours. Perhaps one day in a month on average, and only a couple of loads.
We had it fixed 4 times within the period of warranty (2 yrs) once again within the extended warranty period, and now it is awaiting repair yet again - which is what prompted this review. The last fix we had was the replacement of the entire dryer assembly. Drying actually worked, but we noticed overheating and it survived maybe 10 instances of using the dryer.
Looked up the www for similar trouble reports - plenty of them to be found, same problems: Does not dry properly and breaks down multiple times within short time periods.
The machine cost $1500. Hugely expensive for what is effectively a wash-only machine. Luckily bought an extended warranty (for $159) and so we can look forward to another 7 or 8 opportunities to have it repaired before we accept that all we have is a washing-only machine.
Actually, I want my money back!!! Expensive, too short warranty, totally unreliable dysfunctional dryer. , OK wash-only machine The clothes dryer is dysfunctional, and cannot be repaired. A total waste of money and time (in reparirs).
Problem with drum bearing – We have had our LG washer/dryer for 3 years there about and we a disappointed with LG's product the tub bearing has failed and the washer makes a loud noise when spinning we are very disappointed with this product and would not recommend LG's washer dryers to anyone if this what you should expect from not only this product or other products they… Read more
sell. If I had my time again I would stick to Maytag or Miele in future very disappointed its kind of funny the offer a 10year warranty on the direct drive motor they brag about but the bearing assembly cant last more than 3 years what a joke. I am a sales person for large cabinet making company in our town and I will definitely be sharing my experience with my clients so they are not as disappointed as I have been with this product from LG.
Tub bearing only lasted three years!
The worst thing we have ever purchased! – We have owned this machine for two years, in that time its been repaired 7 times. The first time it broke down it was only 3 months old. The man doing the repairs said it was like a bomb went off inside. The most recent repair was 3 months ago, it would not dry. Clothes would come out wetter than after they were washed. It was repaired and worked… Read more
well up until today when it just stopped working again. A new problem this time, the machine just does not turn on anymore. The "On" button still makes a sound but nothing else works.
Thankfully we extended our warranty but this has been an awful experience. We avoid LG products now, I honestly have not ever seen or experienced anything like this.
I don't even want it fixed, I want it out of my life.
Expensive, unreliable, constantly breaking down.
I tried the dryer once never again I thought it was going to catch fire .This machine is a Lemon
Unit died :( – Bought an apartment which contained this model of washing machine, worked OK at first but I noticed after a while that it was quite noisy when doing loads, especially at the start, almost like it had trouble starting up. Ok, but slow and dryer broke after 4 years – The unit itself was OK, but very slow (typical of combo units - 4-5hr cycles) and didn't deal well with loads that it thought were out of balance, particularly bed sheets and towels. After about 3.5 years the drying performance started to drop off and just recently (at about the 4 year mark) it started hardly drying at all, with drying cycles… Read more
normally taking several house being done within an hour and with wet clothes as a result, needing 4-5 restarts to get it to dry (hopefully before the clothes started to stink from being in there so long). Would not recommend as the reliability of this unit seems pretty bad by all reports. Convenient all in one unit Speed, finicky balance and eventual dryer failure out of warranty period
after two years of using this machine it is very noisy and was told i need to spend 710 to fix it this company needs a class action
Dear at half the price – When our ancient Hitachi finally died, we hunted around and bought a new machine. Our daughter claimed that (a Samsung) and we bought this one. The salesman pointed out that it had a 10 year warranty on the motor and that, combined with the dryer combo meant we'd be able to superannuate out our old dryer. As luck would have it we kept our dryer… Read more
because we use it so infrequently. A good thing as it turns out because just over 3 years in, this machine has just cost us $500, or more than one-third the purchase price. the rear bearing assembly has failed. The give-away is the loud grinding noise when the drum is turned by hand. Failure to replace the bearing assembly will eventually result in seals breaking and leaks occurring. Something best avoided, I tend to believe. The repairers - authorized LG service agents - place a 3 month warranty on their work which is another poor performance by LG.
If the machine wasn't so expensive, we wouldn't have bothered with repair.
The motors are very reliable (from what I've been told), you see. But the same can't be said for the bearings LG uses. They are known to fail within a few years according to other repairers I've contacted.
Till then, it has performed reasonably well, being much noisier than our Samsung when washing and spinning, so much so that we rarely run it at top spin speed. Clothes seem to come out clean for the most part. Because it is a washer/dryer combination, the drum is probably a little bigger than normal, and the door seems larger than competitors with the same capacity so its easier to load and unload. Certainly the overall machine is much larger than its single-function competitors.
Its shut-off valves are far from gentle, which gives our pipes a hard time even with an anti-hammer device inline.
So overall, we weren't displeased with the machine till now, but urge anyone considering a front-load machine to consider very carefully things like extended warranties, and to also look at the ramifications of a multi-function devise if one of those functions would fail. There are lots of excellent machines out there - front- and top-loaders, and you can compare the "efficiency" ratings with the ease of service and potential reliability and purchase costs. We will be, for our next washing machine.
I'm looking at contacting LG in writing on this, but wouldn't you know it, to do so via email requires me to create an account. Really? Just to send an email?
Perhaps my rating of 2 stars is one too many! It worked...for a while Unreliable, poor quality internals, expensive to repair.

Another LG bomb – I bought this machine second hand from someone I know who had only used it for a few months, I've had it for three months, after only about a month the dryer component came loose and fractured off the top of the drum, I removed the dryer components and sealed the orifices so we could use the machine. Terrible wouldn't recommend it to anyone – We have the 10kg one. Payed over $2000 for it. It's broken down 4 times. Once a part broke In it. Lg replaced with a steel one. Flooded our floor first. This time we didn't get it checked. As every time they took 3 weeks too get it back too us. Including it was just sitting there. And Lg as slack as they are. Didn't let us know it was sitting there for over a week. Until we rang up asking if it was finished. That happened 3 times. Now we bought another one. for a bit less. but does the job well. So now I will be taking it To Accc. Putting a claim in. It's out of warranty now. But that don't change the fact. That it happened 3 time durning the warranty period. And it's never been good.

Do not buy this machine - design fault has been confirmed by an LG engineer. This machine will break – I also wouldn't recommend this machine. I purchased it in June of 2010 and it broke down after 18 months. It would make an awful amount of noise (banging/ rattling) when the inside drum was turning. I was fortunate in the fact that it decided to break down within the 2 year warranty. When the LG service engineer came over to inspect the fault he… Read more
told me that he had run out of parts as he had spent many weeks 'running around Brisbane replacing known faulty parts'. Apparently there is a significant design flaw in the machine where some of the parts are made of plastic and are easily worn down or prone to breakage. This caused something to break and our machine to lose stability in the drum.
He replaced the affected parts with metal. Alas, in April of 2013 the machine broke again. This time the machine makes an awful loud rattling/banging noise when in spin mode. This leads me to think that the cause is by something breaking again inside the machine. I have spent 2 days trying to contact LG (via their online support service and also by calling them and using their call-back service) and have not been able to get hold of them.
For anyone who has this machine and has problems similar to mine; even if your machine has broken outside the 2 year warranty you may legally be entitled to a statutory warranty - your washing machine should be fit for purpose. Check the ACCC website for further information.
