Buy ANYTHING else – This machine is completely hopeless. It has ridiculously long wash cycles. The dryer is TERRIBLE. At the end of drying, the door stays locked for as long as it feels like, with no way of opening it, holding your clothes hostage. It’s absolutely infuriating. AVOID.
Flooded Laundry, unsafe product might get Electrocuted – This is the second LG machine to fail, it Flooded the laundry during the wash cycle and kept on working upon opening back cover we could see the water was leaking from the plastic outer tub and water falling directly on the electrical terminal and the machine kept on working. My daughter noticed water flowing in the hall way after it flooded the… Read more
laundry. Very lucky to have not have got electrocuted.
The technician from LG who visited advised the bearing has failed and the metal drum has run against the outer tub and cut through it. Dangerous machine public safety is totally compromised I cant imagine if the water got live we would have been in deep trouble while trying to switch off the machine.
Currently liaising with LG customer care and will see how we go
Decent machine – I’m not gonna write a detailed review, I just need to have a laugh about the people complaining that the machine WETS their cloths during the dryer cycle, LOL how would that make any sense? The machine uses cold water to condense the steam from the drying laundry, as the heater causes the water vapour to leave the fibres. That moisture is… Read more
condensed back into water then pumped out of the drain pipe. That’s what the water sound you’re hearing is... it’s not wetting the cloths for goodness sake..
My main complaint with this machine is that unless it’s 2/3rds full it struggles to balance during spins and will literally spend 45mins trying to balance a load that is too small to balance properly. Perhaps I should have bought a smaller capacity machine though.
It’s also pretty slow, but it’s my first front loaded so maybe they’re all that long. 17mins just for a spin though.. It washes cloths really well AND dries them really well without causing any weird smells people are complaining about.
You do have to remove the detergent drawer fully to let it all dry out once a week though, to avoid mould. That’s a front loader thing though. They require care (wiping the glass & seals, drying the detergent drawer.)
i like it – if you're unhappy with it, it's either broken, or you don't know how to use it. look up the manual. it dries just fine!!! takes about 3 hours but the clothes are nice and soft and smell nice and they're dry. don't go over 4kg though if you want them to be dried properly Show details
Great quality as it lasts already since 2009 despite daily washes – When purchasing a combo in 2009 due to space issues, I was not sure if it would do such a great job being not just focussed on washing. However, I am loving it and despite washing clothes on a daily basis (not using the dryer daily, only in winter) I am still impressed how well the washing turns out now 8 years later. It came with a 10 year motor… Read more
warranty. No wonder that they were so confident in supplying this as I didn't need to claim anything yet.
It has what you would expect in terms of programs, short and long cycles, temperature options from 30 to 95 degrees and various tumbling speeds to cater for delicates.
I love to put on the washing on a timer before I go to sleep to make use of the cheap night energy and to find it done to put on the line after breakfast. You can also set it on washing and then drying right away. Different to some dryers, it does not need to get emptied out of water manually.
So if you are looking for a second hand washing machine as this is now discontinue to buy new, you should consider this one.
what an inconvenience – I'm a tradie and travel interstate. I always try to book into a self contained accommodation because it has a washing machine and dryer so that I can wash my work clothes. After wasting my time with the dryer. I am now about to head down the road to the laundromat to wash and dry my clothes. it is the most complicated and almost unusable unit I have ever seen. Thank you LG. Show details
Great Washer - Terrible Dryer – We have had this machine for 6 or more years now. it has never stopped or given any problems. We tried the dryer function twice in the early days but learnt not to bother with this feature. If you put damp clothes in to dry it will fill with water first like a wash cycle before drying! we found a clothes airer over a heater vent much better. … Read more
As for washing, i could fault this machine. The only problems we have is the child lock does not cover the power button an it will not remember where it was up to if pressed by accident. I have recently learnt that all front load washers are like this even today (from what i've seen so far).
We are currently upgrading our machine due to growing family and another LG front loader is on our shortlist along side AEG and Bosch.
I understand that this machine is no longer available new but you may be reading this before purchasing 2nd hand it may be of some help to you. Reliable, robust and door opens fully Dryer is useless
Good I like it – I'm shocked at the reviews I like mine it works well I don't dry much but my clothes don't smell when I use it. I find it easy to use I have overloaded it a few times and it still works just as good as a standard load it just take longer. I use it on average about 2 times a day. Love the timer on the display I always know how long I have left.… Read more
Love the time delay I always had a load just finished when I get up in the morning. Love the different settings. Its makes a lovely tune when its finished Child lock doesn't stop my kids from turning the power off. It lights up like a Xmas tree and my 1 and 2 year old love it
Extremly disappointed – I Have found out the hard way that this machine is hopeless not only does it not dry the cloths it leaves them smelling burnt. They need an iron of the worst type by the time they are finished as well and If you happen to be unlucky enough to leave a coin in a pocket dont expect to have a washing machine left as a simple coin can distroy the bowl… Read more
completly so that it has to be replaced.
Dryer wasnt of any use and a simple coin missed in the wash destroyed it
Garbage – Such an amount of over complication in a washer and dryer for nothing, locked doors for security, a dryer that has to soak your clothes all the time, 3,5 half hours to dry 2 shirts! Really? This is the best LG can do now? A more simple machine with just manual operation would do a much better job. Stay clear of this trash. Automatic time way too much, inefficient, poor rinse, poor drying, impossible to dry only
Good – We live on acerage with a water tank, and an HSTP system for our waste water. Buying a water effcient washer was a priority, and since our laundry isn't that big, having a 2-in-1 unit suited us well. As I've been reading through these reviews, I think some people just need to learn how to think for themselves. Yes, the user manual isn't… Read more
the most detailed thing you will ever read, but a bit of common sense and it's pretty self explanatory.
The machine is quite and does a pretty good job at washing. I personally don't think front loaders are as good as top loaders for actually getting the clothes clean. But that's the trade off for water effciency.
The machine can wash up to 8kg of clothes, but can only dry 4kg. Those people who have posted reports about drying time taking hours, and the clothes not getting dry are probably trying to dry the same load they washed. If you have a full 8kg wash load, then it will need 2 x 4kg dry cycles. Simple.
The dryer DOES use a lot of water though - I know this because when the dry cycle is on, the water pump on our tank runs every 45 seconds or so. So with that in mind, we only use the dryer when it's wet and we need to dry our clothes.
If you don't NEED a dryer, and you only need drying capabilities now and then, plus your limited on space - then this is perfect. Does a fairly good job at washing.
Is water effcient.
Multiple washing cycle options to choose from.
Washing can be programmed hours in advance.
Dries clothes aswell. Dryer uses a lot of energy.
Dryer uses a lot of water!!!
Terrible – I will never buy any LG produce again in my life, or any 2 in 1 machines. specially washing machines, the seperate dry is much better. I can't believe people is say this LG compo washing and dry machine is good, there nothing i like about this machine beside only quiet to run it take too long, to wash and dry. also the dryer is so bad, always have… Read more
the stink smell in the whole room when using dryer, and the smell stay in the cloths, that is bad for the health. 2 tech look at my washing machine and they tell it bad decide. LG wouldn't accept that this the decide of the machine is worse. if LG not do anything for me, i'll pass it matter to consumer affair.
Terrible – I would prefer to buy a bar of soap and wash my clothes in a babbling stream then use this washing machine. Please save yourself the annoyance and money. Small, compact attractive unit. The Direct Drive Motor does provide less noise and vibrations compared to other washing machines I've used, thus convinient for night time use (lower rates), as it… Read more
will not wake you or the neighbours up. Having said all the above, the SMELL IS HORRIFIC. My machine smelt of an asian fish market, and so do my clothes. The manual is badly written. The front panel and explanation of various washes is about intuitive as working the controls of a Russian spaceship. After the spin cycle of the wash, the clothes are still very damp and water laden. A small 4kg load can take up to 2hours to wash..where is the water and power saving in that? The dryer part of the washing machine is a complete con. 4 kg of damp clothes can take up to 3 hours to dry and smell worse than when they went in. As a test run i put in 3 pairs of socks and it calculated that it would take 2.35 hours to dry.

Love it :) – Having a good laugh at some of the other reviews, people saying that they are bashing the door to get it open after the drying cycle, haha. It remains locked until it reaches a safe temperature for you to open it, just press the pause button and come back in a couple of minutes. No you can't set very short drying times because condenser dryers… Read more · 2
take longer than blower ones, but as an advantage there is no lint or hot air into the room. Just leave it on one of the automatic settings and it knows when the clothes are dry and stops after a few hours. Also don't overload it.
For a quick wash cycle I just set it to "quick 30" but increase the spin cycle a little to help spin dry the clothes before I leave them in the dryer or put them on the line. A full cycle is done in 32 minutes, which is pretty fast.
Also you can just do a dry without doing a wash, just turn the dry settings knob without touching the wash settings and voila! Fast wash, really quiet, compact, sings a song when it is finished :) Drying is slow (a few hours)
Terrible – I did a post before about the smell when you use the dryer. Just wanted to let you know that after 2 different techs both not being able to fix the smell, and one very extremely helpful LG contracted service centre who basically backed up what i said in regards to the smell ie: he told them that he used it in his store and it stunk the whole… Read more
place out. LG have finally agreed to give me a full refund. So if your LG washer/dryer is still under warranty and it is making your clothes smell still when using the dryer, then ring LG. They will test your patience in the extreme, ie: not return your calls, make you go through the motions of having a service centre replace 'something' just to for the sake of it and it will cost them double the cost of the unit in the process in order to not 'acknowledge' that this is a known fault. But in the end they will give you your money back.
They wanted to replace the unit with the same one and i told them fine, I'd spoken to consumer affairs who had advised that if they do that and if it does the same thing, which i knew full when from everything i've read here that it would, then they would have to acknowledge it as a manufacturing fault with the unit and recall them all worldwide. Not something they wanted to do.
And FWIW, I LOVE my clothes dried on the line. I dont use my dryer daily. I bought this unit to do the occasional dry when it was wet outside. I would use my dryer once a month if that. But when i use it i want to be able to use it and not have my clothes stink.. ^^^^ whoever you are^^^^ you sound remarkably like the LG service centre representatives that i've been speaking to! In any case the unit is completely useless and i've used my store credit to purchase anything but LG! I WILL NEVER BUY LG AGAIN. Washing machine is passable
Terrible – Not worth the money or effort. You buy a hybrid machine to be able to perform all functions, this one does not. It can wash and dry. It cleans well. long cycle times (which I can deal with) TERRIBLE smell on drying cycle (which I won't deal with) We generally dry on the line, so we use the dryer very little. The smell was from DAY 1 when… Read more
drying clothes. After calling LG, they said it may be just a 'new' smell, then after a while, I called back, asked for a technician to come and never received a call. I have never owned a front loader, so, I wasnt confident it was a fault. Months passed. The spin cycle would hold there with no action so a technician came this time, and I also inquired about the smell. They replaced the motor. No change in the smell. After my mother in law balked at the smell, embarrassed, I was on the phone. A technician is coming today, and after reading these reviews, I very thankful and feel confident this is a legitimate fault and will pursue until replaced with a new and different unit or refund.
Thank you to those who wrote a review.
Loved it but it died too early – Very little use for a couple. No family. Didn't use the drying because of the smell. just out of warranty and the bearings have gone $1500 purchase price and a $500 repair bill - no thanks won't buy LG again The good looks and the concept Expensive and poor longevity
If I knew what I know now – It's one of the worst things I've ever bought in my life. The filtering system is virtually non-existant. I have to clean the seals and the bowl after nearly every wash. It would probably be great for a couple who barely dirty their clothes and have no pets. For a family, and particularly a family with pets, it's totally unsuitable. The… Read more
drainage clogs up far too easily as well. Water efficient The filter is terrible. I'm forever cleaning lint from the seals and bowl. Dryer takes too long. Inadequate drainage.
Excellent – I cannot believe what everyone is writing about this machine, or any other LG washer dryer combo machine for that matter. I think people just don't know how to use it or are a bit daft. Seriously.. I think only negative experiences are expressed on websites like this, where as the satisfied customers will not bother putting up their reviews.… Read more
Firstly, this machine is dead easy to use. Dial in the cycle, choose options. Press Play. It will Sing to you when finished. Other machines dont even make a peep so you don't know when its finished.
The machine is SO quiet, you hardly know its going. Even on 1400 rpm spin cycle, you're not likely to be disturbed. 1400 rpm! Thats incredible spin speeds. I wouldn't say the clothes comes out dry after spin @ 1400rpm, but it does a good enough job so that you only need to hang them out for a short while or put it in the dry mode for a couple of hours. Just make sure you remove the "transportation pins" otherwise it will go unstable in spin mode. I had the problem where it was vibrating violently, but i learnt I needed to take out the pins.
LG Support is superb and knowledgeable!
Then theres the drying. Whoever said these LG washer dryers don't dry must have rocks in their heads. It does a fantastic job. And because its a condenser dryer, it means no venting and no fluff all over the place.
Hell, I've used 3 different dedicated Tumble Dryers that made a mess with fluff, yet still couldn't dry in 3 hours. I'm not saying the LG washer dryer does a better job at drying, but its atleast than equal or very close to a stand alone dryer.
I think people are overloading it.. remember the machine can wash 8KGs, but only dry 4KGs.. there's even a marker line on the front door telling you how much you can dry in one load.
So heres what to do.. make you use are drying less than 4KGs. Choose a dry cycle and don't touch it. Let it do its thing. The clothes, jeans, towels come out DRY. I always choose the low heat cycles that is the longest @3 hours but keeps temps low. 3 hours and clothes are dry! Man thats better than my Hoover tumble dryer! If you see a Cd message on screen, it means its doing a cool down. (This is NOT a fault !) Just press the PLAY button and 2 mins later you can open the door.
I can set a small load to wash and dry at night before going to bed. Wake up to clothes that are dry and clean! This machine is the best!
Direct Drive motor means its super quite, no vibrations and you get 10 year warranty on the motor.
Seriously people, wake up to yourselves! This machine is the best! I'm sure the newer LG Steam Washer dryers are even better.
Do yourselves a favor and buy one! Ignore the other BS people have written, they are clueless. Looks great, super quiet, sings to you when finished, drys well! It doesn't have the steam function, but thats another model altogether.
I guess you can't dry while washing another load.
Terrible – Doesn't rinse well. I am sensitive to soaps and detergents and only use a tiny amount of wool wash, and this machine just doesn't get all of the soap out. Presumably if there is still soap, there is still dirt. It uses very little water to wash, but what's the point if nothing is clean? It also uses almost as much water to dry a 4.5kg load as it… Read more
takes to wash a 7kg load! So the water efficiency rating is misleading (as it doesn't include the water usage for drying). I purchased this machine 3 years ago, and it died yesterday, flooding my laundry in the process. I won't be bothering to get it repaired, and am glad to be replacing it as I've never been satisfied with the amount of extra cycles I've had to do to my washing to get things clean. I purchased this LG product because my previous top loading washing machine from LG was wonderful and lasted 10 years. Uses very little water during the WASHING cycles. Takes up very little space. Easy to keep the inside drum and door seals clean. Door opens 180 degrees. Poor rinses. Dirt and detergent not rinsed out of the wash properly. Door opening not large enough. Even when I choose a cold wash the wet washing feels warm as if washed in hot water.
Good – One of the cheaper washer/dryer combos that we found on the market and so far so good. If you use a dryer regularly, I would not recomment this machine as the dryer cycle is very long and not energy efficient, but if space is a premium, this is a good alternative to buying two large machines. WD14700RD: With limited space, the ideal choice was a… Read more
washer dryer combo. The door opens flat, which makes it easy to get washing in and out. The washer cycle has numerous settings, includng ECO, which means that you can tailor every load. I also like that you can manually change the spin speed as well. It is pretty quiet as well. The washer cycle is very energy efficient. Haven't used a front loader before this one, and they do seem to softer on our washing. The dryer cycle IS notoriously long and I think uses ALOT of water. We never really used a dryer previously, but good to have an option available in case we need it.
Bad – We wanted to buy a not-too-small washing machine and to save space, get one with a dryer, so in theory the combo was perfect. But the dryer takes ages and laundry smells after using it when whether permits we usually hang our laundry out. I should have checked the reviews better before buying this machine. too noisy if you close the door to your laundry room. - Drying takes hours, when it's finished it still locks the door for a while.
- Clothes smell bad when using the dryer.
- Dryer sheets (added before starting drying cycle) get flushed out through the water hose.

Good – great machine very convenient, looks good, lots of different options and functions saves us heaps of water easy to use WD14700RD: Wash and dry in one go was more expensive to buy
Terrible – I had previously a Pacific Gorenje front loader for more than 16 years (with minor rubber part replacments) and it gave us clean loads every time. years of usage, so I could get rid of it. Never...never again LG. Just few of the cons:
- not a value at all for A$1800;
- smelly machine and loads (i.e.: we have tried to use different detergents and dry out drum; nothing works, it's waste of time...);
- at purchase time we have been conned to get A$200 back, which we have never received (LG said sorry we have not received your mail, so end of story...);
- one of the welding, holding the drum not to get out of balance at spin time is broken (i.e.: water was coming through the drum and rusted part before it snapped; not much of a quality control at production time...)
Good – I'm a bit surprised at these reviews. This machine is an excellent washing machine, and a passable drier. We live in Australia, not England, so people shouldn't be putting their clothes in the drier anyway! We purchased for about $890 only about $100 more than other quality front loaders so the drier was a handy extra option at almost no extra… Read more
cost. We live in a small apartment and the 1400rpm spin speed after a wash can bring clothes to almost dry, so it's no problems to leave them on a clothes rack overnight. As far as the smell goes, I have never had an issue with the drier making clothes smell. Using fabric softener might be the key to this. To dry a fitted queen size bed sheet and queen oversheet takes about 1.5hrs, I don't know if this is a long time or not but perhaps others are overloading? The drier is almost a steamer, it puts in small amounts of water and then heats it up and tumbles. I don't know how people know that it's a power or water guzzler, unless they have smart meters installed in their home. Our power bill has not gone up since we purchased this machine so it can't be that bad. Overall it's an excellent washing machine, quiet, quick, great choice of cycles. If you're someone who's always chucking clothes in the drier then probably don't by a washer drier combo as they will always compare unfavourably to a dedicated drier. But if you just need the drier for the rainy day or the bed sheets, it's great. WD14700RD: Attractive high quality machine that washes efficiently and effectively. Has a great range of wash options. Drying methods take some getting used to, but work.
Terrible – I thought it would make sense having a washer/dryer combo but from day one the dryer cycle leaves the clothing smelling like it has been burnt even on the low cycle and the washing has to be washed all over again kust to get rid of the awful smell and even then it is always there. I don't ever use the dryer anymore. have only had the washer for… Read more
18 months and hate it,It takes foreever to wash but the clother do come out clean unless i use the dryer. it spins ok if I only wash 1 or 2 things at a time except towels.I have to wring them by hand after they have washed and rinsed.I would never buy LG again.I have had 3 front load washers and by far the ariston was the best. I should have stayed with Ariston that one lasted 7 years and 4 kids. WD14700RD: Looks great towels and heavy clothing come out dripping wet,the dryer is awful.
Terrible – NEVER BUY LG AGAIN. It was expensive, full of 'Features' but didnt do the baiscs well - like working properly and for a reasonable period of time. WD14800RD: very little.
