Door seal has torn and water leaks onto the floor. It appears as though this a common problem as I note that there are other reports of the same issue happening. The model I have is the WV5-1410W. My wife and I have placed 3 calls with the supplier to get the machine repaired and it has been over 10 days with nothing heard. This is not looking… Read more

good. LG need to investigate why the front door seal appears to tear so easily. Standard clothes wash for 2 people only (Shirts, Shorts, underwear etc)

Three control board failures in three years, LG refuses to replace the machine, repairs are a major hassle – Three control board failures in three years. The LG rep couldn't get it working on the phone and had the audacity to tell me I would be charged if somehow their technician was able to get it working. Show details

It shrinks your clothes – I was made to believe it applies smart diagnostic to set the timer but I noticed that sometimes it takes over 3 hours and sometime over 7 hours, though our loads are generally the same. Dryer also shrinks our clothes (whether it's denim or cotton).… Read more

LG sent a technician over who said there's nothing wrong with it and it works the way it"s design. When asked about its "smart diagnostics" he said ít just marketing gimmick.

 Follow-up  · It does vibrate a fair bit and I don't really see a li t filter.

BURNING SMELL FROM WASHER /DRYER COMBO – The combo has a burning smell during the drying cycle. The whole machine is too hot to touch when dryer is on, and after cycle is finished, on the outside and inside of the unit. The clothing that comes out at the end is too hot it burnt my hand. My clothes have been damaged, shrunk and have even contained burn marks. LG will take no… Read more

responsibility for the issue. I tried to have mediation with them on the subject, but they sent out a technician to inspect for 25 minutes - did a check and said that he found nothing. A dry cycle takes 2-3 hours, of course nothing was found, he was not here long enough to let it run the full cycle, in order to make that claim.

The burning smell is transferred into the clothing and the smell is quite unbearable. The laundry room needs to be ventilated, and doors opened so the smell can be removed. Half of my house smells of burning when i use it. It is now too unsafe to use, after clothing has contained burns, i will not use it. The unit is now useless as dryer, and ive lost the function completely for my safety. I wish LG would take responsibility and refund the unit. NEVER USING LG AGAIN! DISGUSTING CUSTOMER SERVICE!

Great looking but … – Love this combo, I bought it to save space so I got an all in one. This was a mistake from my point of view. The washer works great and has many settings though I really only use one. My disappointment is with the dryer function as I wanted a dryer that when clothes came of the line in our humid conditions I could pop them in for 10 mins and the… Read more

put them away. However this was not the case. It took an hour or more and added water to my clean almost dry clothes. I haven’t used it again, I might give it another go but I feel I will still need a dryer for my quick dry times.

Door seal damage – Drying cycle leaves clothes crunched up and rubber smell. Surely it’s melting door rubber seal and that is now broken. Customer service declined manufacturing fault and have escalated to come back in 3-5 days. Today is day 10 and still waiting. I don’t think this produce is any good for intended washer and dryer purpose. #lgaustralia Show details

Wash cycle matting towels – Have had my machine dryer of this model for 6 weeks. The problem im having is when washing towels (2 at a time) they come out with the fibres matted together and even when shaking them they come off the line the same and are rough to touch. Tried different cycles and less detergent with no difference. Also tried cold water no difference. … Read more

Unfortunately LG customer service have thrown their hands up in the air and are useless which is very disappointing. Does anyone else have this problem. Noted that the towels are of good quality and never did this with my old top loader.

Edit. Have started having issue's with the cycles

very bad average that DOES NOT relate to the LG WV5-1410W.

We are relieved to have the LG WV5-1410W. After previous purchases failed. We had first purchased EWF7524D3WB which the belt fell off. Exchanged it for the same model with the same issue. Very frustrating.

We then upgraded to the LG WV5-1410W 5 Series 10kg Front Load Washer. And so far works as expected. Very relieved. We purchased the three year extended warranty as well.

Horrible smell after drying cycle, not worth it! – The washing machine is ok but don't buy the dryer combo. Drying cycle leaves terrible rubber burning smell on clothes and LG finds it standard. Never buy anything from LG again if that is their standard. Show details

Makes life easier – Very happy with this purchase. We have a king bed and queen bed. This machine saves so much time for washing and drying the bed sheets along with the towels during winter. I can turn on, leave home and come back to them fresh and dried. People need to understand you can only dry to the kg as shown otherwise it may not dry properly…I have always found LG to have excellent products. Show details ·  1

Be Wary – 5 Months old and the front seal has torn. Not covered by warranty, despite LG help line assistant saying it was. Mind you her "English" was very hard to understand with a strong foreign accent. Seal seems extremely soft and not durable at all. Will have to get it replaced at my cost and be extremely careful loading and unloading the cloths in the future. Show details

Very cool washer dryer – Edit Jan 2025: Out of warranty, added 3 new dampers myself for about $30 from AliExpress. Still over balances in spin, so ordering tub springs soon. Edit August 2023: TechOne, LG and Good guys did a superb job of a very quick warranty noisy pump repair. Due to constraints we had the roof exhaust for the dryer removed from the roof, meaning we… Read more ·  1

needed a condenser dryer.

The dryer/ washer combo is perfect, cheap than either device if you need 2.

The wash and dry cycle is almost 5 hours. I have no idea what our old dryer took, but would be on multiple times for many hours and enormous heat.

Lint catches in the front ring/door seal. The instructions say to wipe it out, do that.

The 1400 rpm spin cycle is FAST, it shakes, a lot, you will hear this throughout your house.

The dry function on/off water jumps/hammers the water pipes in our house, I turned down the feed tap a little and resolved it.

Steam refresh restores dog blankets well.

It has excellent stain removal abilities on 39min cycle.

We perpetually overload and over-use washing machines. So far it's hold up well

Dryer burning clothes, unable to be used but LG refuses to acknowledge – The WVC9 -1410W washer/dryer combo (with integrated WTP20WY mini washer below) has serious issues with the dryer. Burning smell which we were told should stop after some time, but is still happening months later. Clothes are being burned, sheets, doona covers, pillowcases, shrinking such that they will no longer fit bed or pillows. Underwear… Read more

elastic disintegrates with the heat. The exterior of the dryer can get as hot as an iron, the clothes at end of drying cycle too hot to handle. The so-called reduced heat cycle operates at the same heat as the regular cycle. Clearly something wrong. Fault lodged with LG has proven fruitless. An assessor was sent and in the short time he was here he was unable to replicate the problem since he was not here long enough for the drying cycle to reach the drying stage where the heat becomes a problem. Assessor advised us that there could be a problem with the Thermistor and Control Panel, and said he would recommend to LG in his report that these be replaced. After several weeks waiting to hear, LG now however seems to think that our main concern is clothes damage (not the fact that the unit is overheating) and specified that we should NOT be drying underwear, sheets, pillowcases etc in it . (We do wonder then what a dryer is actually for). We had not requested to claim for the clothes , our main focus is to have the dryer made safe and to operate as one would expect. LG continues to ignore the advice of their approved assessor, will not replace the thermistor or control panel and says that we would need to have the washer/dryer taken away to be fully assessed and warned it would be at our own expense . (Interesting since the unit is still in the initial months of warranty) We are not prepared to be without the washer for however long this would take, so instead we will just only use the washer and not the dryer component. We have a family member with the same model and hers is fine - so this is clearly an issue with our particular unit. Very unimpressed and disappointed as we had been LG enthusiasts for many years prior to this incident.

burn themselves on the door. Contacted LG and they said this is normal. But notice there is no warning about how hot the door gets. So i felt the need to share this in my review. Water needs to be drained regularly/weekly from appliance depending on how often it is used.

Damaged clothes LG washing/dryer – I brought this LG washer dryer (WVC9-1410W). My clothes are so crunched and damaged. No amount of ironing helps. My uniforms are unwearable. I did an internet search to try and fix the problem but I only found others that have had the same issue. I have brought this to LG's attention. After hours on the phone with dismissive comments such as… Read more

use another detergent or cycle (I have repeatedly informed them that I have tired every cycle, change detergents and softeners, shake the clothes, put them on the line as soon as the cycle is finished and put them on the line straight). They also always struggled to find the images I sent showing the damage.

A service person come out on the wrong day. He watched the machine do a 15 min cycle and declared that it was OK even though I showed him the wrinkled clothes and demonstrated that I couldn't iron the wrinkles out of the clothing that had just been washed.

I am going to have to buy another machine.

I will never buy LG again.

I hope that others do not get caught like I have.

LG washer lasted a week – On second use we found a significant amount of water on the laundry floor. It was reported to the Good Guys where we purchased it and they arranged for a serviceman to attend. The serviceman identified that the door seal was the cause of the leak and suggested the most common cause was clothes caught in the door when loading the machine and the… Read more

operation of the machine pulling on the clothes causes damage to the seal. He obviously reported this as the cause to LG who today refused liability for the defect. I asked them for proof that we had damaged the machine and was bluntly told they stand by their decision. We had a front loader prior to this one and are well aware of correct loading requirements. It too was an LG and the drum bearing failed after 5 years requiring a complete new drum. Perhaps we should have learned from that. The door continues to leak intermittently and will require a new seal at our expense.
