We purchased this LG washer in 2022 and so far has provided us with good service until 12 days ago when the control panel lights started to fade then come back on intermittently, making it very difficult to control. Contacted LG and provided them… Read more
with all requested details (photos of invoice, serial number panel) and video of fault. Several days later had heard nothing so contacted them again, with a further lengthy delay, so took the call back option. No call back after two days and another extended period on the phone. Finally got to speak to a person who said that they would get a technician to contact me within a further two business days. I have no idea where the people that I have been talking to are located, maybe in Australia but more likely overseas. Why does it take 14 days to get the message through to this company their product is faulty and needs attention? WARNING, DO NOT EXPECT SERVICE FROM LG AT ANY STAGE, THEY DO NOT PROVIDE ANY SUPPORT.
Follow-up · After paying for a call out fee for an inspection. three weeks later LG sent out a second technician to repair the washer. On this occasion they agreed that it should be covered by warranty. All in all a very difficult process which LG made us go through. Would not buy LG again.

My parents bought this product as they thought it was amazing having a washer and dryer in one. Boyyy were they mistaken. It has been 7 months since we purchased this product and we have had NO resolution to our problem whatsoever. This machine is so terribly designed and creates SO much excess lint. It is so annoying to remove and actually CAUSES… Read more
allergic reactions instead of removing it. ALSO, there is NO filter for the lint?? Not sure what kind of design this is but it is crazy, and we can't do anything about it. We are all generally patient people and don't mind waiting for help, but we have contacted LG and their team MULTIPLE times to try fix it but they are completely useless. I have said this many times to the LG team but NOTHING has been done about it, so this was our only solution. My parents speak English as their second language, and as someone who grew up speaking English and is fluent in it, I could clearly tell the LG team on the phone were taking advantage of this. As soon as they heard me speak to them, a fluent English speaker, they immediately showed much more respect and didn't speak down on me. It was completely rude and I was baffled. Along with this, their solutions are all read from the screen. The staff members actually have no idea what they are talking about and literally read off their screen as if it was information that I couldn't find. So frustrating. They also keep telling us that someone has to inspect the machine before they can proceed, but we have already had someone come to inspect the product and they also admitted it produces excess lint, but because there is 'technically' no issue with the machine, we cannot get a warranty or refund or replacement (or at least they are making it EXTREMELY difficult to do so). So annoying that we have had to repeat ourselves. The design of this machine is so silly and the recommendations the LG team provided us with are completely useless. My family has used many LG products which have been great. But this is not one of them. Their recommendations make using this machine totally unrealistic and wayyyy too much effort for a machine of this cost. Even a $300 washing machine or dryer would work MUCH better than this. Ultimately, my issue is with the LG team and how often WE have had to waste our time repeating the story with no solution besides "we need to get a team member to inspect your machine", which has been done already!!!! It's so frustrating dealing with them and this machine is so pointless. So unless you want to spend hours doing washing or you enjoy having lint on your clothes, I would definitely NOT recommend this product to ANYONE. So awful and the team is making this so much more difficult than it has to be. They just need to admit that the design is not up to standard is totally not useable to everyday life. Complete waste of money and time. We are so disappointed with how we have been treated.
I love my new LG washer/dryer. I didn't buy it for the drying functions I bought it so I could put my doonas in it. Unlike my old LG front loader 10 kilo it doesn't tell you how long the wash time is when you go to set it. Is there some kind of timesheet that someone could direct me to? because I don't need a three hour cycle and sometimes you… Read more
want something a little more than the speedwash. I love the fact that actually has a light. I still have my old LG and it still works perfectly. I use it outside now for my pet washing. It's nearly 20 years old. I'm renovating at the moment and I can't find the paperwork.
Dryer creates mould - stay away – The worst possible machine. Washes okay. Drying function creates mould on sheets and clothes. Stay away! Impossible to get out and LG will not honur on their warranty. They are saying its not a manufacturing fault but a servicing fault! The problem is they cannot tell me what I should be servicing to make it go away as I have followed their… Read more
servicing requirements on the instruction manual exactly as specified. It has meant we cannot dry anything with all this wet weather. Not happy LG. Stay away trust me. Find something with a reliable drying function.
Great washer, terrible dryer and very fragile – First the good stuff. The washing machine works fantastically. It has all these cool cycles that i've never encountered before, and it does a great job making clothes clean. So why only two stars? Whoever invented the dry cycle must have been off for a whiz when designing it. My last LG took around 90 minutes to dry pretty much anything. This one… Read more
struggles, and after 8-10 hours its usually still going (and that is within the 9kg limit). That apparently is because it is more fuel efficient. So using a dryer for 10 hours at a low heat is more efficient that using a high heat for 90 minutes. I find I'm always just taking out the washing and drying it by hand.
The top of the washer is fragile. When I bought mine out of the box it had stains on it. After some complaining (and about a four-month wait) LG replaced the top of it. Since then the new top has had the colour in parts fade. I don't know how to act around such a delicate machine. Even if I spray it with cleaner and wipe it off I am liable to discolour it. So frustrating.
Wife didn't want it but now she loves it – When we were looking for a new front loader to replace our 10kg LG, the WXLC-1116B had only just been released, so there wasn’t a great deal of reviews on it apart from professional ones which, let’s face it, can be a bit sketchy. So I looked at all the specifications, warranty, load types, wash cycles, and other features and worked out that going… Read more
bigger meant that our machine would only need to do 2 or 3 loads on a Saturday instead of 5 or 6 (when you split out load types). My next step was to get out the trusty tape measure and work out whether the new machine would fit in the old space and still have enough room for the door to swing open in a 180 degree arc without hitting anything. I was in luck! The new machine wasn't much bigger than the old one, but my wife was still apprehensive, so it was a case of “fingers crossed". LG machines tend to last a long time, so I didn't want to buy a machine that we didn't love, and then be stuck with it for 10 years. She was not sold on it being a dark colour, it didn't match our 10 year old dryer, and it was a bit bigger; and while a tape measure is indicative, it can be quite different once the item is sitting there. Big box retailers are also somewhat affronted by the statement “I don't like it, take it back”. At the time of purchase, there were none in any stores that were close to me, out of the box and on the floor, so I could look, touch, feel, play, sniff, contemplate, phone a friend, or visualise with. That made it hard. In a sense, this was a blind faith purchase, but JB HiFi were being as accommodating as possible. I had always thought of that friendly bunch as TV, computer, camera, phone and gadget people but here we were discussing a (rather large) white good purchase over the counter in a suburban shopping centre. And, surprisingly, they did the lowest price while also doing free delivery and free removal of the old appliance (to be fair, the old appliance didn't have a zero value). First impressions? Once the guys from JB HiFi had shimmied it in, plugged it in and connected the taps, it sort of met our spatial expectations, and it fitted through all our narrowest of doorways. Using the quick start guide was straightforward, connecting it to the home Wi-Fi and downloading the app was also a cinch. The first loads of washing were interesting (read entertaining). My wife collected a usual basket full of clothes from around the house and loaded it into the largish mouth before pausing for a second and turning around to look at me. “There is still a LOT of space here to fill" she said. So she went and collected more laundry. It was like playing a real life game of Hungry Hippos or shovelling coal into a steam train boiler. But at the end of the first load she was sold. In 90 minutes it had done close to 2 loads of washing in its 16kg tub, which was a lightbulb moment. Washing day normally means you can't go anywhere if you'll be gone for longer than 90 minutes, but a bigger machine frees up half a day, and the timer function also means you can load up before you go to bed and start your first cycle so its ready to hang out when you wake up. It also means you can run loads of washing during off peak electricity times or when the solar panels are paying all your power bills. I was also equally amazed. Picture me loading 12 gardening uniforms into this cavernous beast. That's 12 polos, 12 shorts, and 12 pairs of socks that are quite filthy and (let's be honest) pong. And after doing them on an intensive cycle at 60 degrees, with a little bit of help from some of those MLM laundry products, came out bright and shiny and smelling like roses. The high spin speed also means the clothes are practically dry when hung out on the line, so they're ready to bring in earlier, and crease care is superb. If you use crease care and you’re careful where you put the pegs, it reduces ironing by around 95%. Just fold the clothes while you're right there at the line, and place them neatly into your washing basket. BAM! What I love about the app is the connectivity with all LG appliances, but in this case it tells you what the machine is doing and when a load is finished, you can download different wash cycles from the internet and save one on your machine, and you can also troubleshoot and diagnose faults with your machine too. The app gives you control over certain functions like remote starting, delayed start, setting cycles, drum cleaning, and resolving issues, but there is still a disconnect between diagnosing a fault and having a technician repair the fault. This process could be a lot easier. For example, the app could be used for uploading the purchase receipt and discovering the serial number, software and firmware details, and understanding the cause of the problem. When I emailed a screenshot of this information to LG, the details were ignored. What we love about the machine is the single-bed-doona-sized drum, the look and feel, the build quality, the load sensing, and the wash results. What we find frustrating is the main input panel is hard to read if your laundry is compact or not well lit (compared with our previous machine). Our red flag is having to have made a warranty claim so early in its life and for such a simple manufacturing oversight (a wire that wasn't long enough). And what we found wanting was crease care is not selectable as its own cycle like it was in the past, steam refresh is either missing or too hard to find or program, the fastest spin speed is lower than our previous machine and a lot lower than, say, a Bosch, and the washer and dryer is asymmetrical. You can wash 16kg but only dry 9kg. Giving a definitive answer on how much power and water the unit uses is quite difficult since it takes hot water from the house and also heats it's own water once under way. The load sensing feature also means the machine uses different amounts of power and water depending on the size of the load, however, the LG app gives an indication of whether the unit is using lots of power or is being miserly by means of a series of 6 lightning bolts. If using a cold wash cycle, for example, the app says 1 out of 6 lightning bolts to indicate not much power was used. In terms of water usage, the government sticker says it uses 16L of water per load, which is equivalent to 2 toilet flushes. But when you consider that Sydney Water costs around $3.50 per 1000L, this isn't the greatest expense. This amount of water is also barely worth retaining for watering the roses, but water diversion kits are a handy addition if your land goes down hill from the laundry door. By means of an update, we have had to make a second warranty claim in the 25th month of a 24 month warranty. Dealing with LG has been vexing. The new warranty issue is the lights behind the control panel not working entirely. The hold up at the moment is their desire to have photos I sent for the original warranty claim. I have resent them many times but they claim to have not received them. This could be resolved with changes to the app as demonstrated above. I have lowered my star rating for this appliance to 4 stars. If you liked this review, please click the Helpful Button.
Not for me – I fell in love with the look of this machine.... It is HUGE!! It washes Queen sheets, King doona cover with ease.... I washed and "air dried" a load of clothes and my t shirts shrunk, clothes were really hot coming out if an "air dry" setting?? If you have long hair pets I do not recommend this washer/dryer. the fur from my Jack Russell (who sheds like no tomorrow) stayed in the barrel, it stuck to my clothes and I had to vacuum the fur out of the machine.
I sold it after a month and bought a cheap top loader I am very happy with and use my 9yr old dryer.
Love this item, worth every cent – I bought this machine to replace my individual washer and dryer. It is honestly invaluable for me because previously I would often have to rewash loads as I had forgotten about them. Now I just put a load in and set it to also dry and I know that even if I forget about it at least it is dry. The only con is that the full cycle takes quite a long time so I typically can’t do more than one load a day, but that works fine for me anyway. Show details
SO disappointed with this machine! – I purchased the LG WD-1255RD (10kg Wash/6kg Dry Combo) ten years ago. It was a similar colour & style to the newer and larger 16kg/10kg version I am reviewing today. When our machine finally died late last year I was so glad to see that LG still offered a similar product. I was so loyal to this design that I even waited SIX MONTHS for the new… Read more
machine to finally be sent to me (when many other brands were readily available, I endured doing countless laundry loads at my parent's house waiting around for almost half a year for my machine to arrive because I assumed it would be worth it in the end to have another fantastic washing machine in our home). Unfortunately, the moment this machine arrived I knew it was not the same as my beloved previous model. It may look the same and have similar functions but it is not the same. And here's why....
Firstly, there is a terrible smell during the drying cycle (the smell is a cross between burning and musty mildew). Not only is this extremely unpleasant for everyone who enters my home but, even worse, it causes me significant problems as I suffer from a medical condition that is triggered by overwhelming sensory inputs like this. I can only use the dryer on days when I am able to air the house out so it doesn't smell horribly. Our previous machine did not have this problem.
Secondly, everything comes out creased. I have tried so many different settings... low-spin, cold/warm/hot water, air dry, time dry, full-load, 1/2 load, only a few items in, full dry, partial dry,.... no matter what cycle I put it on or how I wash/dry it or what material the clothes are made out of.... it still creases. My previous never had this problem. In fact, it did the opposite.... it REMOVED creases! It was so fantastic for this!
Thirdly, all the cycles take longer now. Even the quick cycle is overridden by the sensor and makes it go longer than I want it to. My previous machine I could set it to a 30min wash, regardless of the load. There was a cycle that used the sensor to determine wash time but you didn't have to use it. This machine uses the sensor in ever program option so you have no control. You have to wait until it has weighed everything and checked it to then be told on the screen how long to expect it to take. When you try to open the dryer part way through the dry-cycle it takes FOREVER to unlock. Like 5mins of standing there. My previous one would unlock after maybe 20secs. And now, the wall of burning hot steam & smell that comes out is INTENSE. Before it was hot but not scalding hot. It's more hot now (even after waiting 5mins for it to cool down) then it was before opening it almost immediately. Maybe I could live with this if it actually dried better but it doesn't. My old machine out-performs this in almost every way. Even the capacity is overstated. There is no way that this machine holds 6kgs more of laundry than my last one. I know because I have the same basket and I know exactly how much each machine held and it is maybe only 15-20% more. Not nearly 40% more as indicated. Maybe they are also factoring in the additional weight and water when they advertise that (which they do not make clear on their marketing) because it is certainly not almost 40% more laundry per load.
Fourthly, they have removed the steam refresh cycle. I LOVED this feature. It was perfect for my husband's work shirts.
Fifthly- The new seal design makes it a b***h to clean now! With our previous machine we used to easily be able to just swipe around the seal with a damp cloth to remove all the lint, etc..... now it's a nightmare. The seals are too deep and thick and awkward to get in there properly. Plus it's so hot now during a dry cycle that you burn yourself instantly if you touch the metal or rubber. Before we never had this problem. I don't understand why they are making it SO damn hot. Our previous model never got this hot and it dried in the exact same amount of time as this does. Same amount of clothes. So it's not like the extra heat has reduced dry times. It's just made the machine a safety hazard and liability. Our electricity consumption hasn't reduced since using this either. So it's not more economical to make it hotter. Makes no sense to do this when there's no benefit.
Finally..... there is a loud squeaking sound that the machine develops after a few months. It happened with the last machine too. We had a repairer come out and do a bunch of work to our old machine but he never got rid of the squeak. Now this machine has done the exact same thing. It seems to be an inherent design flaw. So the motor is not quiet as advertised. I could live with this flaw before because everything else about our machine we loved. But now, it is SUPER irritating having to hear our machine constantly squealing like a pig is being slaughtered in our laundry room when the damn machine doesn't even do a good job. If you are going to be irritating you better be worth the irritation and this machine is not :/
Bitterly disappointed by our entire experience.... from the 6mnth wait to the awful smell ..... the removal of our beloved favourite settings (like steam refresh and timed cycles ) ..... the long cycle times and waiting around for ages for the machine to unlock and then scalding you when you do finally get access..... to the extra room it takes up without actually being really much bigger in terms of load capacity..... and let's not forget the squealing. Just all-round sucky experience and not a good machine. Wish they had just kept it how it was. Was going to buy the wash tower and steam tower, etc for our next house but now am too worried it will all be duds like this was! Will likely end up switching to another brand in the future.
Lots of issues, but the only one of its kind available – This 16/9 kg washer dryer is the only product like this on the market, so I would buy it again, but its has definite drawbacks. 1. Does not wash as well as my previous two LG front loading washers. For example my 11kg front loader washed my doona beautifully on the relevant cycle. The 16kg machine on the doona cycle does a terrible job and… Read more
doesn't even get the water through the same doona that the 11kg machine could wash. The cycles are weird and I only find one useful (cotton). There are long and very short cycles but nothing in between.
2. Use of the dryer (like any dryer) results in a lot of lint. But the machine has no lint filter for the drying cycle so either (a) the lint deposits on the next load, or (b) during the next load the lint is washed into the washing machine filter, blocking it. I have to empty the washing machine filter every time I use the dryer, which involves draining the water from the machine from a drain that is only a couple of cm off the ground, so takes ages slowly draining into a shallow pan. If there was a lot of lint produced in the previous cycle, the drain may get clogged during the next cycle resulting in having to empty the whole machine of water. Around 2 hours of work.
3. The washing machine drain is badly designed (its the same on all of the LG front loaders I have had) in that it is so low its not possible to drain the machine into anything higher than a couple of cm. So it takes ages to drain into roasting pans (that's what I use!), carefully carrying each one to the sink. 10 pans full is the probably the smallest amount when I empty the drain between cycles. If the drain gets blocked during a cycle, prepare to spend several hours emptying pans!
4. The balance on this machine is awful. It unbalances all the time during a spin. Instead of automatically lowering the spin speed, like most other machines do, it just stops. Half the time I just put it back on at the same spin speed and it works. So the sensors that decide the load is not spinnable are poor at their jobs. Also if the load wont tumble, the machine wont spin. So if you have - say - two pillows, one on each side of drum, end to end, so that they don't fall down when the machine spins, it wont run the spin cycle. If you change placement so they are in the machine with the long end running from door to back, so that they fall down each time the drum tumbles, the spin cycle does run. I have NEVER had a machine with a perfectly balanced load that doesn't spin because the load doesn't drop. The same thing happens for donnas and anything else bulky. Its a huge pain. These are items that span perfectly well in my other LG front loading machines (11kg and 9kg).
6. I purchased from appliances online and the machine stopped working almost straight away (second load the filter blocked up and the filter lid was broken so it couldn't be removed to be cleaned). Appliances online just ghosted me even though the filter lid had to have been broken when the machine arrived. They said that I had probably broken it and once the machine was delivered, any problems with it being broken were not their responsibility. So I advise to check your purchase fully before the installers leave, including checking if the filter lid/handle is actually attached to the filter. I had to wait MONTHS before this was fixed, so had the machine less than two weeks before it became inoperable for several months.
Be careful – I was told there was no 'water to continually empty'. It does, at floor level, each time you wash and hard for elderly or sick. Very confusing to work out especially as to time taken as instruction manual barely mentions time anywhere. Biggest warning from others was the time it takes to wash and dry.
Customer service at its worse – I started a 55 minutes call saying "I'm in love with LG, have been a loyal customer for years! I just have a couple of questions because I've never used a dryer before!" but ended thinking "I will never buy an LG product ever again!". I have never had a dryer, I used to dry my clothes on the lines, in the sun. Because this is such a rainy summer,… Read more
I wanted to upgrade to a combo washer/dryer (my laundry is too small to have them separate). I asked Lem "Is the 'air dry' program equal to putting clothes on the line? Why can't I select the 'air dry' function after 'duvet' and 'sportswear' washing cycles? Is it going to ruin my garments?". The answer was: "So you're asking why your clothes are not dry enough after a dryer cycle?". This is basically how the whole call was: she would put me on hold for 15 minutes to ask the question to the product specialist and then would tell me: "On the owner's manual it doesn't give that option, so probably it's not possible". This was the perfect example of a call with a customer service representative who is NOT listening, who just has TEMPLATE answers, who does NOT understand the questions and who should NOT be doing this job. I asked her to pass me the product specialist. 10 minutes on hold. "No, he's not available". I asked to speak to her manager (I know, I hate pulling a Karen, but after 45 minutes, it was really called for!). 10 minutes on hold. "No, he's not available". Basically what I got from this call is: maybe sportswear shrink if you put them in a dryer (but what's the point in having a dryer then?), and...do I really want to deal with LG customer service ever again? Nope. Never again.
