Lock & Lock Top Class
Verified1 review
Fatal design flaw! Purchased less than 2 weeks ago; I have already broken 2 of my 8 brand new Tritan lids! This is a classic example of form (design) taking precedence over function (use). To engage the lid-locking mechanisms (blue wing), one pushes down. This breaks off the small (~1 mm) retaining lugs causing the wing to snap off; the lid is ‘un-lockable’. Water-proof seals are a major selling feature but require all 4 sides to be ‘locked/latched’ to be effective. It isn't sealed, nor is it waterproof! While the design concept is aesthetically pleasing, the 1 mm width lugs that retain the locking mechanism (‘Tritan’, i.e. PCT [poly cyclohexane-1, 4-demethyl terephthalate]) are insufficient to resist hand-applied torque – i.e. simply locking the lid. It is non-functional. Wider (thicker) lugs would be stronger, but do not offer the aesthetically pleasing minimalist design! Form over function!
Purchased in for $211.60.

Thanks for the heads up. As advised I contacted Lock & Lock, via their web site, on 8 Jan 2026. Today is 21 Jan 2026; I am still waiting for a/any response from Lock & Lock! If Lock & Lock is so "keen to help with a resolution", why have I not received a/any response (except via <ProductReview.com.au>)? How long should I wait? FYI, another lid has broken since my original post; that's now 3 from my 8 original 'Top Class' containers! I need to ask; why should I bother pursuing a "resolution? Answer. No. Lock & Lock, is an expensive mistake! I have replaced <Lock & Lock> containers with <GlassLock> containers.
Thank you for your feedback. We appear to have not got your details through our website. Please can you make contact via this email address and hopefully this allows us to get in touch.

Update. Another week, another broken lid! Now 4 of original 8 (50%) of the Lock'n'lock lids have broken - each in exactly the same place!
Have written to Lock & Lock [dist by DKSH in Australia] as advised (x2)... Silence. Nothing. Useless. Waste of time, effort, and money!
Resolution! After posting my negative experience with Lock & Lock, DKSH managed to make contact (email) and recommend that I contact their retailer for replacement/refund. Happy to declare that we have now received a full refund.
