We purchases a 2020 Spirit Lifestyle second had but had only been used once. We have used it about 6 times going on dirt roads and a some very mild offroad where 4WD was not required. While Im happy with our purchase we have had a few problems. The first was the previous owner had broke the winch strap because he didn't lift the back up a bit… Read more
before winching. We replaced the strap with a heavier one, simply because the original one was to thin and would fold over itself when winding up the winch. The outlet of the beautifully made stainless steel water tank leaked very slightly from day one as it was cracked. The tap attached to it was the same as what is used on your household toilet. A bit strange but useless as well. It was replaced with a stainless steel ball valve. The gas struts let the forward fold basically drop the last 12 inches. The previous owner managed to dent the aluminium checker plate from letting it drop. However the weak struts make it much easier to close up so we have left as is. The wheel bearing seals failed on one wheel and done quite a bit off damage to the brakes, but after cleaning the brakes and replacing the seals the brakes still work OK. The tent part doesn't fit perfectly but they don't seem to on the other brands either. We have used a couple of bent poles in the roof to take up the slack. Despite the issues Im still happy with it, as it doesn't seem to matter what brand you buy, they all have problems.
What a horrible piece of SH--.After sales service USELESS – Tent Does not fit frame, dust and water leaks, chassis bent, These campers are made to be towed from home, Set up in van park for holiday period, then packed up and taken home. Not made for touring the outback. So if you want a good camper DONT BUY A MARS CAMPER. Show details

Very disapointed MARS
Average camper terrible customer service – Enjoyed our Mars spirit for a couple of years but can see the quality is cheap. Awning was horrible to put up until we made some modifications. Please be careful with the winch as the weld in the bracket let go one night and fractured my skull leaving me with stitches. When I told Mars they said if I drove from Sydney to Melbourne they might be able to fix it free of charge. Instead I fixed it for free with a mate and a welder. Show details
Very bad customer service. Our 2 campers are falling to bits – Can't get any response from Mars warranty team. Their campers fall to bits, fridges don't work and they won't act in accordance with their legal obligations under the consumer guarantee section of the ACL. Show details
Cant complain – Only taken the camper out possibly 6 times but cant complain with the purchase 2 adults 2 kids fits perfect, even without the annex ever being attatched, campers got enough room and comfortable. Show details · 1
Excellent, three years old now great product – Purchased the camper new and have completed around 4-6 trips a year since, has been down to the snowy mountains, most of the east coast and south east Queensland. Had two small issues towards the start which were resolved immediately, even offered further assistance and follow up from the Brisbane dealer. Show details
Never again! – We bought this camper for a 4 month trip around WA. Everything went wrong with it. Excessive amount of dust in everything which broke our fridge. Gas strutts gave way. Leak in kitchen which shorted out lights. Slide draws jammed. Wheel misaligned, wore out tyre. + more. Took it in for repairs, received the worst attitudes from dealer and after camper being with them for over 6 months it is STILL NOT FIXED! Show details

Happy with my 2pac – Have had my 2pac for bit over 2 years now and still love it. I did have a couple little issues at the start all rectified immediately. I drag it through some pretty serious offroad and it performs exceptionally well. Couple of mates have the other "brands" that had the same issues you hear about but nothing was done to fix it. I highly recommend mars and will buy another no question Show details
Massive warranty problems on new Mars Spirit Campertrailer unresolved – I purchased a new Mars Spirit Hammertone in March 2019, it was manufactured (loosely put term) in Feb 2019. I believe these are 99% assembled and made of Chinese materials. I would seek evidence to prove me wrong on that account. I paid $15,700 which is very expensive for a campertrailer but I thought I was getting a quality product. I work hard… Read more
so it's kind of like a reward. Arriving at my first camp site at Omeo just before Easter and never having been on a dirt road my kitchen wouldn't open. It was jammed shut. Disappointing, the kitchen is a major feature of the camper. No hot food that night or for the next few nights. No hot food at all. I rang head office in Melbourne and it has never happened before. I lifted the back seat and sure enough, there is my kitchen and its jammed shut. Frustrated I tried to free it but only succeeded in cutting my hand. Next morning in Sale in Gippsland I set up at the caravan park for my 7 day stay. Still no kitchen so off to BCF for a canister stove and a bucket, my new kitchen. Cost $50. By now I'm ringing Head Office twice a day and getting angry. Arn't these campers assembled in Australia?????? Surely they can look at a kitchen and see why mine is jammed shut??? My disappointment turned to anger as now I still had no kitchen but a cut hand as well. [Name Removed] asked me to cut out the silicon on my sink, remove it and see why my kitchen was jammed. I did this and bent my sink in the process, no worries he said, we will get you a new sink. Still my kitchen was jammed and being Easter, Head Office closed. In desperation, I rang the dealer who sold me the camper and we facetimed while he looked in the same model camper back at his dealership. My kitchen had 1 of the 4 bolts missing that holds the kitchen on the bearings and 2 steel shims had worked loose, jamming the kitchen. Assembled in Australia, no. The bolt was a very large allen head and as I had only 4WD tools with me I was forced to buy an allen key as well as the bolt to fix it, $27. It is now the last week of August and I still do not have a new sink to replace the one sitting in my kitchen that is bent and not attached. Now I don't blame the dealer, he has tried his hardest to get me a sink. The problem is with the Head Office and lack of care once an item is sold. No communication, no warranty. Tomorrow I will commence an action in the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal to have my money refunded. That is right, $15,700. I have only used it once and camping season is approaching. I need a camper that I can use from a supplier who follows Australian law. Chinese goods such as this are especially prone to defects and that is where the warranty becomes important. As a legal professional I can attest to this! [Name Removed], you blew it. I think 4 months is long enough to wait and I have heard nothing from Mars. I have kept the dealer out of this because it is not his fault. Peter Hughes I have been given a tube of silastic and a sink removed from a camper to install. While my installation was not as good as a pro, I have a sink now. I also go a replacement for my defective plug. The manager called and offered to go over the entire camper if I can bring it 5 hours to Melb. My advice, buy a second hand Cub Camper.

Unhappy customer – Bought a Mars Rover Deluxe - arrived with a bunch of issues, missing gear, kitchen slide pulls out too far and can't be pushed back in without using pliers on the locking mechanism, pump stopped working on the third trip etc - in its current state our camper is useless and we're now a couple of months in trying to get this sorted on warranty and… Read more
so far keep getting told "we must have broken it by using it wrong" - absolutely the worst customer service I have ever received. Save yourself a headache and buy from someone else.

Not ideal for touring but excellent value for the longer stay bush camper – Hi, after years of camping trips in Gippsland and 3 extended trips to NT and WA in Jayco Campervans and the a rooftop tent, we decided to purchase a Mars forward folding camper trailer for the offroad capabilities. We looked around at other camper trailers fairly extensively but there are hundreds on the market and we really couldnt see that they… Read more
were offering much more for the $30,000 plus price tags. We were originally wanting a fold back CT but the Stratford Agent talked us into a fold forward 2016 Mars Spirit,( I think the rear folding is better in hindsight. It is shorter, has inside storage, is not as high.) After using it for the last 18 months I think I now know the ins and outs of the vehicle. The Stratford Agent wasnt much help but MARS head office were good. Was it good value? Definitely! At $16,000 it came with everything and more that the $30.000 plus campertrailers come with. Is it as good as the more expensive vans? I would say definitely not if you are touring BUT If you are going to a single location in the school holidays with the kids it is ideal and you can pocket the extra thousands. Mars has now dropped the price to $13,500. THANKS FOR THAT!!! Negatives- 1/ It is over engineered. Double canvas over all the windows to make it extra waterproof and warm. Lots and lots of poles, including for the window awnings. You dont have to use all the poles, is just fine without a lot of the internal poles. 2/ The tropical fly over the entire roof flaps heavily in a breeze and is not really necessary. Positive is it can be removed. 3/. The stove has a fairly soft flame and isnt good in the wind. 4/ The awning and Annexe are enormous and take 2 people a long time to put up, and it is high, Take some steps with you.. 6/ It is quite long, so the turning circle in the bush is sometimes a bit awkward. 7/ It is hard to fold down at first ,and the cd supplied doesnt help, until you work out the method. 8/ Is quite warm inside until ALL the windows are open
Positives. 1/ It has heaps of storage. 2/ A pull out sink and stove 3/A pull out camper fridge bay. Pretty well everything you would want to use during the day is accessible without putting the van up. You could cook lunch while travelling if you wanted. 3/ It seems to have a rugged suspension, we havent done the Gibb River Road with It. But it handled The Barry Way in the Snowy Mountains without an issue. 4/It is easy to tow, I forget it is there with the Prado. 5/ An 80 litre water tank.6/ 2 gas bottles. 7/ Plenty of room inside with a table or a large extra bed. 8/ The table can be taken outside. 9/ It is tall enough when erected to provide shade so the awning isnt needed later in the arvo when you are pulling up. 9/ It is quite easy to fold up if you keep the cushions away from the edges, don,t store anything extra inside, tuck the canvas in carefully and walk on the roof to speed up the closing.,10,11,12/ It is much cheaper than more sophisticated CT's.
WHO SHOULDNT BUY ONE- Someone with lots of money. Someone who wants to move on everyday and wants to set up and pack up quickly.
WHO SHOULD BUY ONE. Anyone who likes to go bush or to the coast and spends 3 nights to 3 weeks at each location. And especially if they need to fit the kids into the CT or the annexe. And if they have the patience to put an annexe the old fashioned way. And want to spend less than $15,000 on their CT.
Two Glaring Issues – I recently bought a 4 month old Mars Spirit Forward Fold Camper and although it seems a reasonable camper I found out 2 things after I bought it. One was the warranty does not transfer to the new owner, and I fail to see why this should be. Secondly after buying it I found out its either a 2 person job to close it due to the pressure on the gas… Read more
struts or you have to open out the holding down clips and walk over the camper to get it down enough for the clips to work. I took it back to have it inspected and Mars in Brisbane told me that is how they all are and that is reasonable. I recently saw a display at the Brisbane Camping Show and this particular company had there's open and shut by a girl about 12 yrs old so not all campers have this issue.
