Increible performance over 35 years – We purchased a Maytag washing machine 35 years ago and paid twice the price of the most expensive competitor and it still going. I have repaired it twice under instruction from Maytag both relating to a unique to Australia water flow back valve which I removed at the second attempt. The amount of work this machine has done is amazing I a ledge my… Read more
wife washes every day to rev her up. Reading these reviews we have decided to keep the Maytag going until it gives up the ghost. I should mention this machine has mechanical action not electronic for control.
Excellent fridge – Purchased Xmas 06 now 11yrs old never missed a beat. Has lived thru 5 moves including 6mths stored in a sweaty shipping container. Has spent last 5yrs living beachfront northern NSW running strong whilst all other household appliances TV,hifi etc rust out internally and need replacing every 18mths or so (use radio rentals now) but the old Maytag still purring! Although discontinued model would highly recommend. Show details
Expensive - needed repair from new ans Very Noisy – We bought this as an ex-demo as it was a run-out model and thought we were getting a bargain at $2500 (reduced from $4995) but when we got it home we found it noisy and the fridge side kept freezing up. We complained, had a repair man out but the problem was still there. We request and got a replacement which was much better but still needed a… Read more
repair man out who said there was a problem with these but he knew what to do. It looks pretty and it has worked fine since but has always been the noisiest fridge/freezer I have come across. We just can't afford to replace it so are stuck with it. Would I get anything else Maytag? Definitely Not.
Complete lemon. May tag should not be allowed to sell such rubbish. Hope they go broke – Bought a newish secondhand model that was only about 3 years old cheaply and thought I was on a winner. It needed a new circuit board straight up which cost about $350. It then worked well for about one year. Then the fridge started freezing. That burst the line to the water filter and water started dripping out the bottom of the fridge. It… Read more
split in the pretty much impossible to access position behind the filter. The only solution was to disconnect the water line and hence we lost the use of the water chiller and ice maker which was the best feature of the fridge.
Then the fridge would either run warm or else too cold and freeze the food. I gave up after months of frustration and gave it away on Gumtree having cost me around $1000 and hours of angst. Nice looking unit but agree with then other comments that putting the circuit board in the fridge is mad. Maytag deserve to go broke for producing this lemon that look great but is useless.
Expected better – Had expensive repairs done at 7 years of use, so not a lemon but didn't enjoy dodgy service from Nth Ryde repair guy. love the ice making but fridge filtered water not usually cold working ok for now...
peter1 – This fridge is a disaster, broken down in first 8 months ,was repaired under warranty. Next break down was two weeks after repair and the freezer had completely defrosted and blood had oozed from freezer all over our new polished floor boards!Contacted Maytag distributor and demanded new fridge ,they said that they would repair it again,so i said… Read more
to them thats bull s@#$% two break downs and loss of food twice in such a short time is a joke. After arguing with the lovely representative from way Maytag I gave in, they repaired it again .Fridge was ok for 4 years ,but now she gone back to its old tricks of intermittent failure.eg 1 open fridge door and display goes blank, worked out by switching fridge off for a while it would reboot and work fine.this symptom would happen first monthly then weekly but now seems ok.eg 2 freezer working but fridge warm and electronic control panel working correctly. Went on line carried out some diagnostic test on the defrost heater and sensor on evaporator, all components are good so I'm assuming that the electronic control have packing in again. I was going to repair the fridge, but after reading other review on this dog of a fridge I will be off to buy a new one in any brand other than this rubbish.
A good old truck but always needs work – Solid , stainless but better used as a boat anchor than a refrigerator unless you like fixing it up every year or so when it claps out. Basically I have taken to ordering parts from a USA supplier each time the main board ( electric control board located inside the main refrigerator area .... Damp.... Duh.. Breaks down. Also have had to replace… Read more
stuffed freezer fan & the solenoid switch thingie in the rear lower corner because it sprung a slow leak & soaked the floor behind fridge for a month or two before we noticed... Oh & then there's the ongoing mysterious earth leakage which still trips out our house power. Can't find exactly why yet but I bet it is something to do with running main control boards inside a refrigerated & damp part of the unit. The thing I love about this is that it is solidly built. What I lot he is that this thing requires so much attention, money & time. After all it's only a bloody fridge. Why couldn't they put the electrics away from the wet & frosty bits... Maybe I'll try engineering in my next life... These guys should have! Real stainless
Horror – In all my 48 years, this would have to be worst investment I have ever made.It has been replaced 3 times.Yes,that's right, this is the third frigde they have given me.Each one has been worst than the other.I have had repair men at our house about 30 times. One day, everything freezes over, then a few days latter, everything is warm.It has been an absolute horror story.
Constant faults – After 13 service calls in 3 years, we fought for a replacement unit. We were offered a new unit for $1000 which we accepted. This came with a 1 year warranty which has now expired. I am writing this after waking up with a warm freezer and further water damage to our floors. Oh well, another week of camping waiting for repairs! Nice stainless steel exterior Constant breakdowns. Fragile drawers. Doors don't always close. Slow repairs

Works perfect – I have had it for 1 year working 3 in storage bought it on sale lol but works perfect the only thing I hate is it doesnt have an alarm if door is left open and can be noisy at times ice machine is fantastic as is the chilled water dispenser so far so good Good space Noisy no door alarm Show 4 replies
Terrible – If buying one, insist on a 5 year on site warranty. We're going back to a cheapie with a big warranty. we bought ours ex-demo with only a limited warranty. Big mistake. Heaps of bad reviews around the web on Maytags, should have researched more before buying. Sturdy cabinet and doors. real stainless steel. Big motor. The glass shelves were… Read more
good and the door shelves and drink chiller compartments are a great idea. Design is flawed. Quality is rubbish. The air circulation system fails regularly due to the openings frosting over. The condenser failed on ours within 6 months. Next to go was the Defrost heater motor. Finally the main board is now fried.
Terrible – Very disappointing product compared to my GE fridge only bought Maytag because couldn't buy a GE because Kleenmaid went belly up. Very hard to get Maytag serviced in Brisbane only 3 companies one of which does not service fridges. For a $4000 + fridge would think it would be more reliable. Purchased from Harvey Norman who contacted me and said… Read more
would get refund from Maytag. Maytag said tuff luck will only fix. looked good. good adjustable shelves Quality is rubbish. Had our fridge less than eight weeks before broke down loosing over $300 worth of meat in freezer because it didn't cool. Now less than 6 months old lost all food in fridge side because it freezes everything.
Give me a foam cooler any day before this clap trap failed bit of electrical engineering
