I'm completely editing the review below. I had not contacted Maze products and wish I had before struggling with the tumbler. A very simple remedy has fixed the cog issue and it is now turning effortlessly. Am now waiting on advice to address the issue of hard balls of compost. Thank you Ronen. I've had the 180L, 2 bin Maze compost for a year.… Read more ·  1

The rain and/or sprinklers wet the material inside making it heavy. The 'compost' become very hard balls which have to be soaked to make it usable. Then the cog keeps coming away from the barrel so every full rotation means I have to push it back before the barrel comes off completely so then I'm reluctant to keep turning because it's an issue (I'm 75 so it's not an easy thing to keep pushing it back in place). Screws are starting to rust. I'll be looking for something else. $169 is a lot of money.

Very pleased with this compost tumbler – Very pleased with this compost tumbler. Over the last 30 years I've used a variety of compost bins in a variety of situations. This time, I set up a compost system for my apartment block using two 180l maze tumblers. Three years on, the tumblers are cranking out several bags of top quality compost each month. I plan to buy another Maze tumbler to… Read more

expand the project.

Tips for using this type of tumbler, especially on top of a non permeable surface: * Make sure you maintain a high ratio of "brown" (dry, carbon-rich) materials relative to "green" (moist, nitrogen-rich) materials. * Cut or shred all the materials into small pieces. * Check the moisture levels regularly. * Turn the tumbler frequently to make sure the materials keep being mixed together.

Happy composting!

P.S. I have NO links to the manufacturers, I'm just pleased with a good quality product.

Flimsy and comes apart when turning – didn't find assembly too difficult (1 hour) just need to read the instructions carefully I think overall it's not a bad design but it's flimsy and the turning handle is connected to the tumbler body via one connection point only, and this relies on the silver button of a spring to stay engaged. in my case this keeps failing (spring not springy… Read more ·  1

enough to keep the silver button proud) so the handle will separate completely from the tumbler when I try to turn the tumbler. also not impressed they did not use stainless steel for the middle axel, I have seen many of these on gumtree with rust. Also the legs are not very stable, even giving the tumbler a test while empty, it is flexing. Needs more reinforcement

EDIT Ronen was quick to email me and sort out the faulty silver button so I have updated my review due to great service. After some use I do stand by the overall build being on the flimsy side, there is some flex in the whole unit, and the doors slide freely - would be good if they clicked into place once closed. Note the tumbler leaks and every time you open the doors, compost debris goes everywhere - makes a mess so need to consider this when positioning tumbler. I have noticed some lumps forming so perhaps more horizontal struts within the tumbler would help keep things loose.

Cog disengages – Ordered a 180 lt compost tumbler and cart [Order #30523] (January 6, 2023). Everything worked fine until recently the cog keeps disengaging and it takes my wife and I to push it together and keep pressure on it or it disengages after 1.5 turns. Show details ·  1

Good idea but not good - would not buy again – Use of ungalvanized steel frame means its just going to rust away as its in contact with the ground and exposed to weather. Black paint is not suitable protection for this. Poor detailing makes some of it hard to assemble such as the three nuts holding drum to front cover. Need tiny hands and blue tac and lots of patience. Three nuts missing. So… Read more

80 minute trip to hardware store for 3 nuts! Supplier happy to send them but that meant item sitting around unfinished until parts arrived which I guess would be a week or more. There were surplus other fasteners - why? To me it says poor quality control Use of nuts and bolts to assembly is labour intensive. Should use plastic bumper bar type rivets. Also gets rid of the issue of the three nuts near the door and these plastic push rivets do not rust. The fasteners are black painted steel and will rust given the environment in the drum. The three Allen key fasteners used inside the drum are not easy to do up as the Allen key hits the plastic so its a part turn, part turn inside a drum .... why they did not use Philips head so a screw driver could be used I do not know. Could easily have made it simple. Or better still plastic push rivits Doubt this it going to last long - the steel tubes and fasteners will rust away quickly Pity as the overall concept is good let down by poor detailing and lack of quality management Wort is when i reported these issues the reply was along the lines its my fault .... nothing about the wrong selection of untreated steel, use of allen key fasteners in difficult locations etc. So god feedback t them was just ignored. Do not recommend and would not buy again.

Great! – I bought the Maze Twin Tumbler Mega Bundle direct from their website. Had no problems with ordering or delivery and I’m very happy with the composter etc. It had clear instructions for assembly and it wasn’t difficult to put together. I’ve found the tumbler system to be better design for composting. Show details

Love it – It was a little bit of effort to assemble, but I knew that before buying it, so just set aside an hour or so. Well worth the effort, it's a great design and I love the ratchet tumbling system to make sure it gets evenly tumbled. My only wish is that I had bought the bigger size, but it's still great and holds heat to break things down really quickly. Very happy with my purchase. Show details

Good Product – I put the tumbler together on my own and, as someone with no mechanical aptitude and of advancing years I was very proud of my achievement. As long as the instructions are carefully read and followed it all works out well. Show details

I am very happy with my Maze 180L Tumbler – I am very happy with my Maze 180L Geared Twin Compost Tumbler. The instructions to assemble the tumbler were easy to follow, and as a senior female gardening enthusiast, I am proud to say that I managed to do it all on my own! Now that I have been using the compost tumbler for a few weeks, I can see it is working really well to turn my organic… Read more

waste into compost for my garden. It is also really easy to operate, with the geared handle making turning the tumbler super easy. I also got the Compost Caddy for my kitchen, and the Compost Cart as a set with the tumbler, and I think the price of the set was a really good deal. I have already found the cart to be useful for other jobs in the garden, instead of my big wheelbarrow, so that is a real bonus!

So easy to use and turn – I would like to say how happy I am with my compost tumbler, it is so handy for me as I am 88 years of age and I love pottering with my garden, mostly raised garden beds and pots, it is such a handy size for me and it looks nice as well as being so easy to use and turn. I must admit I did have trouble putting it together but my Daughter was… Read more

Box missing pieces – I was extremely disappointed to unpack my brand new Maze 180L Twin Tumbler, only to discover that some pieces where missing. This is terribly deflating and inconvenient. Did not come with all parts – I received the composter with missing parts. Assembly was frustrating as part way through putting it together I realised parts were missing. They shipped the parts out in good time. Once the parts were received, I continued to put it together, only to find another part was missing. Once again they shipped the part out, after I had to fill out… Read more
