Great worm farm & customer support – Set up of the worm farm is easy, the worms don’t escape & are thriving. But the customer service is second to none! I asked questions & got almost immediate detailed responses. I now know how to much better run my worm farm for better productivity. They ramped up my learning curve and drastically improved my know-how and ability to boost the worm… Read more

Leaks – Leaks. Even after being reassembled exactly the same way as I had done it by the owner of Tumbleweed and getting called names in the process it still leaks. Definitely would not recommend purchasing this product. N.B. Now also has maggots. My old polystyrene homemade farm never had maggots. Ewww... Show details

Great Initiative – I found the instruction booklet not that helpful but watched the online tutorial and it shows each step of the process which now completely makes sense. I have a large greenhouse so will make good use of the 'tea' giving each bed a good watering. Being organic is also a huge bonus. The 'cafe' didn't come with the worm blanket which is needed to… Read more

keep light out and help with temperature fluctuations. I have now bought separately from Tumbleweed online.

A solid starter farm – Bought the farm 12 months ago having researched a few options. Really happy with the ease of use and the speed with which I could get castings. Two issues I’ve noticed. The crates are heavy when full. Worms can escape out of the side. All in all, good value for money to start off with.

Worm Farm Liquid – Tumbleweed refers to liquid produced by worm farm as Worm Tea. Recently discovered that the liquid is not Worm Tea but Leachate that can be toxic if not handled correctly. Worm tea is made from the Worm castings. There is a special procedure for this, Please be careful with the Liquid and definitely don't use it on leafy vegis in your garden. I love the idea of the farm. But please research Leachate

The Worm Cafe does all I expect and need – I have had my worm farm for over 2 years and have found it easy to use. I purchased the worms and bedding with the kit, but since then I have just used shredded newspaper for bedding/food and have had no issues. For the blanket I have just used cardboard, but then when that was eaten I have since used an old quilt scrap. My worms breed and… Read more

replenish the few that may be lost through the tap. Rarely do they escape as they seem to be happy in the conditions. For feeding, I put the vegetable scraps through a food processor and they consume them very quickly. I try to add a sprinkling of soil when I add new food to help the worms with the processing. I use tank water for flushing as per recommendations. The third tray is only used when I remove the bottom tray to distribute the worm castings and begin a new feeding tray. Periodically I need to clean out the base of the unit where castings build up and restrict water flow. I ensure the unit is not in direct sunlight and have it draped with an old lined curtain which helps control temperature fluctuations. When I go away, I just put the food in chopped up instead of finely processed, so that it lasts a bit longer. All in all, a reasonably priced and easy to use unit.

Great worm farm – The only negative comment I have is in relation to the the holes being too small - some worms get trapped. Need to be 4-5mm. Owner's manual could better explain the working tray system in that the second tray should not be added until the first tray is full.

Works well..... but – Works very well at a worm farm. I've had this for over a year now and surprisingly I'm only just now filling the first tray. I can see the logic in a second tray but believe the third is redundant and a waste of plastic (perhaps I should deduct a star but will leave it as five). NOTE, although this is a great worm farm I wish I hadn't bought a… Read more

worm farm (any worm farm). I ended up buying a composting tumbler owing to the garden waste I have (trimmed hedges etc). The tumbler is much easier to use and it can compost anything you put in the worm farm and much much more. Therefore if you’re thinking about getting a worm farm why not a composting tumbler? Really the only reason to buy a worm farm is if you don't have any garden waste e.g. you live in an apartment or have a tiny garden. Just my feedback as someone who owns both a worm farm and a compost tumbler.

Crappy – I am looking forward to buying one of the flow through systems. Seems a lot more efficient than this thing. Changing the trays and actually getting to the castings is a pain in the behind. Food level has to be perfect or the trays just dont fit together or the lid doesn't go on properly. Or there are worms in between where the trays fit… Read more

together, meaning you could squash your work force. Bad OH&S policy right there. You add another tray and it doesn't fit together properly and the worms can escape. I had to use cling wrap and tape to close off the gaps. Maybe I will learn how to use this better. I would avoid this thing and buy a flow through system without trays, if I was just starting out worm farming.

Very good – Bought this product from Bunnings seeing the product do its work on YouTube its worth $84.90 @ Bunnings that's where I got it from. It only includes the plastic 3 tier frames an box you have to purchase the worms separate an tumbleweed warm blanket or you could use news paper as a blanket I bought compost soil as well an the tumbleweed worm… Read more

conditioner to correct the pH but you can use egg shells to correct the ph so soil wont be to acidity. Average worm you need is 1000+ though it does take a 3-6months to make more worms the more worms you have the more they eat a lot

The assembly pretty straight forward, good thing use can the worm casting and worm juice for fertiliser.

Another tip which I didn't know as I chucked my receipt in the worm farm use your receipt to get a rebate from your council there is a rebate form you fill out and you need the original receipt an send it to the council and they will give you $25 as for saving the environment that's for my local council check your own council this also applies for compost bins as well.
