Disappointed with overall quality with a dangerous 300kg tow ball weight – After waiting six months I finally picked up my Voyager rear fault camper and very disappointed. The build quality was not the same as what was displayed in there showroom. Struggled to drive it back home using electrical breaks which was of great concern, this would mean that the camper is not fit for its purpose. Upon a mechanical inspection… Read more

it was found that the tow ball weight was 340kg not sure how this is legal as this would mean over 400kg after loading up the front box.

Also found that the 240 electrical system is useless as it couldn't power up a kettle and more of a liability

I would not recommend this company to anyone

MDC Voyager as it is – Most people write complaints, this is just how it is. MDC Hardfloor Rearfold Voyager v4 we purchased July 2014, from Sydney. The trailer is constructed in a very strong design for off road camping, the ground clearance is more than most people would need and good to know it is one thing less you need to think about when driving down tracks. The… Read more

trailer is heavy and long 1100kg and nearly 5m but you can see over the top.

The lockers are huge, with the fridge slide able to stow 60l fridge and room for a box of pots and pans. The locker on the drivers side has a draw and room to stow all the extra things that you don’t really need access to all the time, wheel chock, blocks, spare ropes and tarps, power cords, we also carry a milk crate with our dry food items. The front locker we use for clothing, spare bedding, bucket, and the bigger items.

Canvas took a bit to get use to and required a couple of extra spreaders to ensure water didn’t pool, and it took 3 weekends of camping in the rain and a week of constant rain for the canvas to take up and stop seeping. We assisted the seams after this by rubbing 3 candles into all of the seams. The poles and spreaders are a little bit light but they can be straightened. The annex covering the fridge has many great advantage of having access from inside.

Kitchen setup has good bench space and draws for all the cutlery and crockery. The only pain is the kitchen needs to be all the way out to connect the gas and water.

We have travelled approximately 7,000kms including 500kms of fine dust road, (Bourke to Menindee) with no dust in lockers and only a small leak in kitchen.

The electrical setup for the 12 volt system is laid out for ease of use and isolation.

Only problems we have come across are the electrical wires being taut, not allowing the locker to open all the way, fraying the wires inside the cable. The wire to an outlet coming off because it was taut as well, these were fixed under warranty. Other issues fixed under warranty to date, missing bolt from water tank bash plate and adjustment to brakes as one side was not working.

Short coming of MDC and on the Voyager are the jockey wheel could be sturdier, the closing winder could have a bracket lower down to pull the top down for easier closure. Part of the sale closure you need show customers the setting up and closure of any trailer. Sales staff need to communicate better after the sale, I have email asking for a price on a replacement bed strut not even an acknowledgement, again the customer has to follow up.

Overall we are more than happy with the Voyager, getting away whenever we can.
