Medescan Rainbow Mist

Faulty fan motor – Bought a Medescan Rainbow mist on June 2024. After 6 months of usage, no mist was coming out of the spout. night when I used it, the mist was flowing out initially but stopped in the middle of the night. When I got up in the morning, I was shocked to discover the towel that I had placed below the unit was soaking wet with water. Water was also found on top of the whole dresser top and thus damaging the dresser top. It is highly concerning and dangerous, as I was not expecting such an effect from the humidifier. Overall, I am not impressed by the product (only lasted me 7 months and despite a replacement base unit was sent to me, it did not function as advertised and it has caused further damage to my dresser). The after sale service was excellent. Maybe the Company should review this particular product and action on it. I have written to the company and awaiting for reply.

scratched/damaged the oscillator and when i turned it on again, it does not blow out enough vapour anymore. I've cleaned it several times in the past but this time i didn't really do it properly. I was so devastated as I love this product a lot! So I emailed customer service about it and they asked me for the receipt but I replied back that I don't have the receipt anymore and gave them details of where and when i bought it and photos of the damaged section of the oscillator. They replied back that they usually need the receipt to do a claim but as a gesture of goodwill they will send me a replacement base! Oh WOW! I was soooo happy! I just received the replacement base just now and started using my humidifier, happy times again! Now, that's what you call a Great Customer service! Thank you!!

Poor – Red light keep coming on. One night I was woken by the smell of burning; the company says it was dirt. Not sure why specks of dirt are not expected to be a factor in an environment that needs humidity - most of Australia is suffering from no rain which equals dead grass, or in my case dirt, lots of it constantly blowing through the house. customer service, I had to take the unit to PO after printing off label, and after awhile I contacted Michael to see what was going on. Company policy (disgusting IMO) is no refund and I should go to the purchase point (without the unit...?). Not happy, I will be making sure I don't buy from this company again.

December 31st 2019 Update: Can't respond

I acknowledge a response from Mediscan, however I cannot find where to respond to their response (getting old!). I DID clean the unit at each fill. MOST of Australia is in drought or burning at the moment and if the unit cannot take the dust this country suffers from then their unit does not belong in this country IMO. This was my main reason for buying the unit - the fact the whole area is so very dry and dusty (no grass, just dirt) and I wanted some humidity in the air. Not sure what a replacement unit is supposed to to besides suffer from the dust/dirt/dry!

Works great but poor design – i find this unit works really well putting humidity in the air that is dried out from me having my heater on so much in the cold Melbourne winter. i suffer from sinus problems & this has definitely helped since the air coming out of it is purified by the filter too. have some cons. One is the design in the way of filling the unit with water. It involves pulling off the top of the unit & tipping it upside down to remove the tank. But since it is a dome shape at the top which cannot be adjusted, it is not possible to set the tank down on a flat surface to then fill up with water. So i have to hold the tank with one hand/arm & then put the water in with the other, which is quite cumbersome to do since it starts to get heavier as you fill it too.

The other thing lacking in this unit is an auto shut off function, so one has to be careful not to forget & leave it on all night only to find the water tank is empty but it is still turned on the next day. So for these 2 design flaws i must deduct one star for this review. Hopefully the company might address these issues in a redesign of this otherwise great product.

The BEST customer service – I had the Red light issue. Michael tried to show me how to troubleshoot over the phone but couldn’t fix the problem. Without hesitation, Michael offered to replace the base and wow I got it in 2 days. I never had this best standard of customer service before. Thank you so much Michael. Brilliant customer service – I rang Medescan customer service and explained that my rainbow mister was leaking. Michael tried to troubleshoot with me over the phone. He sent a replacement filter and base immediately on the Friday and it arrived on the Monday....problem sorted! Excellent service!

Nice light but not humidifier! – I bought this humidifier about 3 weeks ago from chemist. It was working fine for couple of days but suddenly starts to show red light. I checked everything working fine for few minutes and then keep showing red light and stop working. My baby was so ill and I couldn’t use it! It leaks and it’s extremely hard to clean – I bought this a month ago. I researched before buying and it seemed to have good reviews, was I wrong. disappointed. Was told that I needed to check before returning it and that I had somehow spilt the water myself. Not impressed with the accusation.

Cannot clean properly – This works fine but its design means you can’t take it apart to clean inside the water tank where the mold or slime grows. Also too many small spaces in the design that can also not be reached to clean and quickly discolour. I’m now too worried about spreading mold to use it. Show details

I really like this Vaporiser – I loved this so much I bought two for each of my boys. This is the product we use when the kids are sick. It pumps out mist, which can be adjusted using the dial. easy to clean. Can take abit to dry out before storing away. Oils can be added in the back, though I don't think the scent lasts long... Guys my son threw the water hub and it cracked, do you sell replacement water hubs please?

safe for children and adults. The tank has ample room to store water and we run the unit continuously for 12 hours and it still had water left in the tank. It has an automatic cut off safety if the unit runs out of water. It has different light settings so you turn on the light and use it as a light source during the night and it lets you see how much water is left in the tank. It has multiple settings for the diffusion of cool steam out of the spout and flow can be adjusted. The only little concern with it was because it puts out cool air my husband was very cold that first night so we brought an electric blanket and that enabled him to have an uninterrupted good nights sleep and that is the reason I gave it four stars. I would thoroughly recommend this product as it is made with good quality materials, reasonably priced and easy to assemble and operate with safety features.

My daughter loves her night light and it also helps with her breathing during flu seasons – Had a replacement for the filter, i threw away the important part of the filter the screw in cap. Best Humidifier for baby – The humidifier was bought for our new born baby six months ago. Overall great unit and safe for small children. However it takes some effort to keep it clean and maintained, as of maintenance of any sort of water holding tank. It's has been a real little workhorse and our unit's LED light broke and the customer service honored their 2-year replacement warranty and replaced the faulty unit very quickly. Show details ·  1

customer email, got Michael from the Customer Service Team, who fixed the problem for me and in addition sent me a new part (cap) free of charge given the Mist was out of warranty. I told Michael I was happy to pay, but he insisted that a happy customer in most instances is better than having too charge. Now that it what Customer Service is all about, many many companies out there can take a lesson from Michael and his team. Doesn't work after 10 times of use – i've only used it for less than 10 times since i bought it about a year ago, now it isn't working anymore. it did work and it did help my daughter breath better at night when she was sick, but the durability of this product is very bad (i clean and dry it after use every single time). won't recommend!!!! Show details

Lasted just enough time to run out of warranty – Ours stopped producing mist after 2 years. It was great while it lasted. We used almost daily for the first year then stopped using the most function for a while before it stopped producing mist. My daughter still uses as night light. Fantastic diffuser – This is an awesome diffuser, easy to clean and the oil that you use is beautiful. Great product, great service – My Medescan humidifier stopped producing a mist after 2 months. I contacted Medescan and they sent me a replacement base with no fuss. This new base works perfectly and I now sleep better again. This is a very good product which I have no hesitation in recommending. Outstanding product! – I love this product! not only did the extra humididty in the air help with my cough but it was also safe. I'm the biggest clutz around and i used to walk through the steam of the old hot steamed vaporizers and burn myself ! the cool air is safe to touch and i can add my fav lavender oil in the oil tray to help me sleep at night. Becoming pain to maintain it – I bought it with a lot of hope, but turned out to be a dud. After a week of use, it has started emitting a bad odour. The odour is like a damp cloth smell. I googled around and someone had mentioned to clean it in vinegar. After cleaning with vinegar it goes away for a day.. and returns the second day.
