DO NOT BUY – Brought Mercator Gladis ceiling fan from Bunnings only used a handful of times & has now stopped working. Bunnings will not cover warranty told to deal with Mercator direct had no luck with them Terrible product Show details
Fan was faulty out of the box & 6 weeks later no resolution – I purchased a Mercado fan based on recommendation from our electrician. The electrician went to install it but when they did so, they couldn’t pair it with the remote, these electricians did everything in our double bathroom reno, hence am confident of their skills. They called Mercado and went through trouble shooting and were told it was a… Read more
faulty unit and I needed to contact Mercado. I did so in December and provided them my proof of purchase and electricians details. They didn’t have the same unit so I selected another one. So far so good I thought. In January I had heard nothing so contacted them again, they said that they had shipped the unit to the Electrician on the 3rd of Jan, so they would be in contact shortly - a few days later I contacted again as I hadn’t heard, they then said they had contacted the electrician and I was a priority and it would be done ASAP, I have now chased 3 times more and I am always promised a call back or an email and it’s the 29th Jan and still no resolution. Its ridiculous that the product was faulty out of the box and a replacement wasn’t issued immediately- to wait 6 weeks and chase 7 times in total is ridiculous. You might get a fan that works out of the box but if not- it’s a painful experience - and in my experience still not resolved.
Waste of money! – Doesn't move any air, just uses electricity! One of the worst products I have ever purchased. Show details
I could push it faster – Very poor performance and looks like it’s been up there for 20 years. Took down for clean, all the screws rusty and blades are terrible condition. Would not recommend to any one Show details
Dodgy from the start – About 3 months out of the warranty the fan simply stopped working. But we have had problems since the start. Very temperamental. We have two of these fans unfortunately. Sometimes would work, sometimes not. Fan is really quite weak. Doesn't move much air. Have never had it off the highest speed and we have a cool breezy home. So we would hate to… Read more
see what it was like in a warmer area. Also the blades have developed marks on them and they have yellowed and not stayed white, despite regular cleaning. Very disappointing.
Mercator City is excellent – I purchased 4 of these in Feb 2017. My home has low ceiling's and they suited perfectly. My review is after a couple of summers using them. I have had no problems with any of them and absolutely love how whisper quiet they are on the lowest speed !! As a small fan 52", they don't really cover any area more than what's under them, keep that in mind… Read more
when choosing blade size. I had them installed by a qualified electrician, with a certificate of install for warranty, and they found it a breeze to install. Reading all the other negative reviews, I wonder if it's installation that could be the cause or I am just lucky with the stock I bought. I have since purchased (Feb 21) 2 additional fans from Mercator, they are Instinct DC. They are their latest model for low ceiling homes. I will provide a review soon.
The fan is trash, so is the garbage customer care – We bought 3 of them, all of the units wobble and shake at any speed above the third lowest, adding more Insult to injury the light units flicker on any setting Mercator said they would replace the units with the same ones, but it has been 3 weeks since I made a claim and no one has been in contact to have them changed over . Very disappointed, do not recommend Show details
It looks like a fan, but it's not a fan! – We bought 5 x City DC fans in Oct. Installed in Nov, and have sent through warranty claims for 3 of them. One simply didn't work, the second wobbled terribly and the third made a clicking noise. They have been replaced, but it's still the same. All five fans do not have any airflow whatsoever. Better to sweat it out than to sit under this fan.… Read more
Unless they come up with some sort of a design fix, this is not a fan. AVOID. P.S. We have contacted Mercator and they are aware of our issues.
does not move air – like others have found, there is no air flow. Either in winter mode or summer mode, the blade design might have been the issue, as its spinning but not moving any air. don't know how they could even be sold, its not a fan. but a spinning noise maker. Dont know what they can do to replace this. Mercator, sent out electrician to replace the fan. Got the new version, as the CITY is discontinued for obvious reasons. New fan working all good. Just a decoration on the ceiling – They look very neat but just cannot do what they are supposed to do. Blow air around the room. Purchased 3 units without the light in white plastic. 2 units were installed three months ago and waited for the third unit as there were none in the country. The first two units were very average air flow and the third had no air flow. I purchased… Read more
these purely on the recommendation of the choice website and I was absolutely wrong. I have visited a local lighting store today and was blown away by other makes air flow. It was like Chalk and Cheese.
We have checked and rechecked the balde installation and winter summer settings They only look good
Quiet fan with very modern look – I bought 5 of these fans from an online store. I got 3 with the LED light and 2 without. They are fantastic. So quiet and very good airflow. The light can dim as well which is a bonus. Blades are very sturdy and good quality. Highly recommended. Show details
Very quiet fan – We purchased this fan for our bedroom so our main concern was noise. It is whisper quiet on the low speeds which is all we need. The light is quite harsh as it is a cool LED and it flickers if you try to dim it, but we can live with it. Show details
Perfect for low ceiling heights – Airflow is good. Shape and profile is simple. Not a flashy design. Slow speeds (1-3) really slow. Remote response not very good. No display on remote to know which speed it is running on. Once off, you can't turn on using wall switch. Must use remote to turn on. Overall good value for money, especially for low ceiling heights in a decent size room. Show details

Nice fan, but terrible and not working light – The fan is very quiet and fairly good. However, the light is really bad and flickering. I asked Mercator to change the flickering light, which they did, but the new one is flickering too. And now they ignore me... Also, we bought 2 of them, and both have flickering light. So basically, we can't use the light... Show details
Mercator City Low Profile LED Ceiling Fan with Light – I purchased the Mercator City Low Profile LED Ceiling fan with light and my electrician installed it. Unfortunately, I didn't check if the LED light was 'WARM' or 'COOL'. It is cool, so when you put the light on in the room it looks like you are back in the 70's under fluorescent light - it is truly awful. I wrote to Mercator to see if they… Read more
could swap the light section of the ceiling fan to a 'WARM' LED light. They said 'no'. What a waste of $310. I do think it is strange that Mercator have some ceiling fan lights with WARM LED but they can't interchange them. I guess they will catch up when everyone complains about this ceiling fan light! My advice would be to only buy the ceiling fan and then use normal 'warm' light lamps or pendants in your room. The light is truly awful. I have learnt my lesson.
