Mercedes-Benz C-Class Estate

Does not live up to the name – Purchased as a replacement for a 4 year old C class sedan, and is disappointing in nearly all aspects. It did not even get home after picking it up when the indicator switch fell apart. It took many weeks to get repaired (noting that we were given a loan car). The run flat tyres were a fast wearing uncomfortable disaster that had to be replaced… Read more
after 24000 km. The brakes the same at 60000km. We stopped using MB service - much too expensive. Next car will not be MB - not worth the money. Brakes have to have rotors and pads done at same time - rotors cannot be machined - a couple of thousand bucks thanks It gets worse - told she does not drive it hard enough so has to have nitrous filter system replaced - thousands of dollars
Antiquated navigation system and noisy rough riding run flat tyres – Purchased this MY 17 C250 Mercedes Benz Estate and in our opinion it’s navigation system is from the dark ages and is definitely not user friendly. Mercedes gave us a part number for an update on this system four months ago and the part is not even available in Australia. We spoke to Service And Spares at a Benz dealership and they all agreed… Read more
that the navigation system is antiquated. Efficiency at its worst. For a luxury car to have run flat tyres fitted, which are extremely noisy, they do not give good mileage and hate rough roads, including potholes. We have also found out that the resale value is hopeless, insulting actually. This car was $82000 new and after 18 months have been offered $45000 on a trade. Would never buy or recommend a Mercedes Benz to anyone and I certainly would not deal with Mercedes Benz Geelong ever again.
great car - fuel efficient and comfortable – car handles well and is quiet on the road, but doesn't have much power. i dislike the radio controls, they're quite difficult to use with a control knob in the centre console car has been reliable and cheap to maintain and run (fuel and servicing) car also takes ULP 95 octane fuel which is a bit expensive Show details
Have discovered the ultimate car. Mercedes Benz C250 CDI Estate – I purchased a 2014 twin turbo diesel demonstrator equipped with most of the available extras fitted. Essentially at the new car price with all the options free. Have only travelled 10,000 k but in the 4 months of ownership have discovered why Mercedes Benz is such a highly regarded and prestige vehicle maker. The station wagon (Estate) has… Read more · 1
surprisingly proved to be a much more convenient general purpose vehicle than my former SUV. Just avoid the pot-holes and rough roads. Traction Control and the other assisting functions seem to keep you out of trouble if you are careful and not a real off-roader.
Have yet to master all the hi-tech options not being a teenager, but just setting everything onto "Auto" seems convenient and less confusing. The bible sized Handbook needs to be on hand at all times until you fully qualify as a jet pilot. Just have the key in your pocket and press the start button - everything just does it's job as required.
It is easy to believe the quoted performance figures of this twin turbo diesel, it goes like the clappers and has the torque of a big V8. Pity we have no autobahns.
Fuel economy is amazing even though I suffer from Leadfootism I still find economy is from 5 to 7 litres/100k. It is better than the wife's Mazda 2.
My wife has a very sensitive back and normally was not able to travel long distance without frequent rest stops. The multi adjustment seating for both passenger and driver having individual memory coupled with fantastic suspension has solved that difficulty. Also have a factory M/B towbar with Redarc fitted for trailer and compact van and find it tows better than my 2009 Pajero but is obviously limited to a small caravan up to 1800kg.
Only bad point is the problem of finding safe and secure parking - don't want a scratch on the new Benz!
Love the wagon, pity I could not afford one earlier in my driving career.
First Time MB Owner - now a convert – This is the best car we have ever had. We purchased a dealer drive C200 wagon with Avantegarde and Vision Packs. It is just delightful and makes every drive enjoyable. The little 1.8 turbo is incredibly flexible and gives great performance with excellent economy. Everything inside feels quality and built to last. We had the misfortune for our… Read more
parked wagon to be hit by a hoon doing burn outs when he lost control. The car was hit hard yet all doors opened and the passenger cell was perfect - these are strong safe cars.
2011 C200 Estate Wagon is Brilliant – I traded a BMW 135i M1 coupe on the C200 Estate Wagon looking for a larger interior with the drive of a sedan. Reading previous reviews over the earlier 5 speed Kompressor model the blue efficient revamped body and add-ons have transformed the earlier Estate into a fantastic package. Gold Coast Mercedez Benz was excellent and service was superb. … Read more · 1
We got a good trade and changeover price on the beemer so did the deal. The new engine in the 2011 C200 blue efficiency estate is beautiful. After a 1500km run in period it was giving around 6l per 100km open road and 8s city. The main things I love with the estate is the electric tailgate, beautiful steering and wheel, the revamped interior is beautiful, our car is black with black and silver interior looks awesome. The seats are comfortable and can be well adjusted to drive all day and not get sore. The vision out of the car is excellent with the options we have navigation great, lane tracking system that is you are leaving your lane brakes one side of the car back into the lane that also combines with forward radar that monitors traffic so while on cruise control will adjust to the vehicles in front speed in essence if your doing 100km per hour on cruise and the cars in front are braking to 80km/h the car will self brake to maintain the safe distance. The rear tailgate is manual and electric so when you have hands full just click a button and up she goes, when loaded push the top right close and down she goes. The wagon looks like its speeding sitting still and gets lots of admirers, inside ambiance is great. Why does Mercedes persist with the foot brake?
Excellent – This is the most awesome car I have ever owned. Admittedly mine is over $100K worth with options (AMG kit, vision, power tailgate, electric seats, metallic paint, Sports DSP and 18" AMG wheels) but every one is worth every cent. Car has never missed a beat and will swallow large loads of luggage with the rear seats folded down. German engineering… Read more
at its best. Excellent room in the wagon area. Visual presence on the road. Safest car in Australia. Good fuel economy. Build quality is excellent. Good resale value. Transmission (5sp) can hunt for gears occasionally and is slow on changes (including slurring up changes). Solution is the Sports DSP package which makes the responsiveness way better. Expensive (but necessary) options add to base price. Expensive servicing (premium brand). Drinks premium unleaded (but can live with 95 RON if needed).
