Glitch, not working probably, manufacture faulty product, no refund/new exchange policy
I bought Surface pro 5 in 2018 to prepare my daughter for her year 7 and I was expected the price I paid for a laptop for a basic user, not gamer etc should be able to last at least 3 years. The device keep glitching, slow and uneasy to connect to WIFI/Hot spot. Internet load very slow, unusual speed for i5. I went back to the store but they refused the exchange nor refund, offer repair by Microsoft company as their policy will. I disagree as I do not pay $1700 for a repair/faulty item! If the damage was cause by me, I am happy to take the offe...
Read morer but its NOT! After went back couple times, one of the manager agree to exchange but have to be surface. So I have to choose them again, will I get the same model? No. So I suck in to the upgrade model, Surface laptop 2, pay extra couple hundreds for the changed. Guess what happen? It worst! Letter k and the mouse are, left and right click are not working after 2 weeks that we had it. Again... I went back to the store, again they are not doing anything except sending for a repair. And they said it will take at least 3-4 weeks! That is ridiculous! I try so many times dealing with this products, and I then decided to go to the company, unbelievable, it took me months to negotiate but end up, I still force to return the device and accept to have a refurbish unit for an exchanged. You would think now it should be good right? No. Guess what happen? The replacement unit is not working probably! I took down all videos, how it glitched and jam, restart itself all the time, how frustrating right? Again, I have spent months again to talk to them, back and forward email, imagine that! And what happen now? I return the broken device and request a refund and, they took the device, offer me to upgrade to surface laptop 3. I refuse because they have break my trust on any of them with the price we pay for! I strongly request for the refund. Then they promised but now they say they couldn't approve this! I am exhausted, why should we dealing with this crap this days and no solution can be solve! I wish this can put on the media, apparently my daughter friend had the same problems and they force to pay extra $500 for the repair! Unbelievable!Purchased in at The Good Guy for $1,650.

I really do love this computer... Mainly for its looks and its feel. I have forked out $500 on this thing to pay for warranties, insurance and security so I hope its worth it. One thing I have noticed though, and I'm not the only one that has had this problem, is that the WiFi does not connect automatically even if you toggle that feature on. You have to manually go into the settings and connect it yourself.
Maybe I just had a bad version of the computer, I can't be sure... But this is my problem and I've seen it once before when I was research...

I am a writer and I also use my laptop for music production in association with an Akai MPC Live. The Surface is fast and very responsive. I have been the target of hacking and the Surface has coped with the attempted intrusion. It is unbelievably light and very very thin. One criticism is that I have to use a bluetooth mouse. For some reason using the touchpad only leaves the Surface open to localised minor hacking - that of course is my opinion. However I had to have 3 Surface exchanged until I tried the mouse to fix the problem. I informed Microsoft security but they want so much information/proof I took it no further. I have had no other problems. Highly recommended.

Purchased this after having a bad experience with Lenovo yoga 530. The battery life is the best and the laptop is of extremely high quality. Only annoying thing is the texture of the keyboard area as it is velvety and gets dirty quite quickly. Reasonable price if you get the education discount.

Questions & Answers
Purchased Microsoft Laptop 2 and after acclimatisation found speeds and operation OK. The computer is used in a domestic situation with email traffic and Internet browsing prominent in quite light useage. I have used a Logitech mouse since startup with all connections via WiFi.
Recently, the keyboard failed and would not connect to the monitor at all. I followed online instructions about resurrecting keyboard and found myself in all sorts of trouble, eventually having to restore to an earlier date. Mouse still OK. I found the on screen keyboard impossible to use and in the end connected an old WiFi mouse and keyboard to enable this exercise.
I made inquiries about repairs and was told to "throw it away and get something else" the "repairability of these units being Nil".
If anyone can provide me with help on this, please keep it simple as I'm not really au-fait with computers behind the screen. Or a repairer.
The unit was purchased from JB Hi Fi Airport West in 2019 for $1350
