Miele DGM 6401
VerifiedMPN: DGM64011 review
Our Miele DGM6401 combination steam/microwave oven was installed, along with other Miele kitchen appliances in September 2018. When first used it made a loud buzzing noise when in the microwave function. A Miele service agent inspected the oven an declared it faulty. A replacement was not in stock so had to come from Germany. The replacement was installed in November 2018. At the beginning of February 2021 the microwave function failed. The oven was repaired by the service agent and Miele agreed to pay 74% of the repair bill. In March 2022 the microwave oven failed again, it was repaired and after some discussion Miele paid for the repair. Just after that repair the oven started intermittently cutting out while in use. Recently the fault has become permanent. And the microwave function is not working. An email to Miele summarising our problems with the oven and requesting advice about a replacement microwave oven that would be a match for our other Miele appliances received a prompt reply that seemed to suggest that Miele might help with our problems with the oven. They offered to arrange a service visit to look at the oven before they took further action. I replied saying that we would be reluctant to spend money on what has proved to be a lemon. It’s over two weeks now and no further emails from Miele and no advice on a replacement oven. It’s annoying to have to buy a Miele for aesthetic reasons as we have little confidence in their ability to make a microwave oven that is as reliable as our 20 year old Sharp combination oven or even our 10 year old $50 Kmart microwave in our Granny flat. Claims of being engineered for 20 years of service mean nothing if the warranty is only two years.
I am very pleased to say that Miele have given great assistance with our oven problems and the problem has been resolved to my satisfaction. It is so good to see them back their products with quality customer service.
