How do I use the self cleaning

These ovens are not "self clean". I believe only the pyrolytic ovens are self cleaning. In the manual page 48, there is reference to Perfect Clean. This is a coating on the the enamelled surfaces. I have found if oil is used in the oven without covering the oven is going to get dirty. It depends how often you want to clean it. The Perfect Clean is not very good. Call Miele if you need further help about cleaning. However, these ovens are extremely reliable and very good to cook with.

I have a Miele oven H 4240 BC and never was able to bake a proper pie. The crust remains soggy. I have the same problem with cakes or other foods. I have the impression the oven does not heat properly on the low level.

I even changed all my baking utensils for black metal ones, but still no good results.

I never had the problem with my previous ovens!

I will never buy a Miele oven again, it has never worked properly since the day I bought it about 5 years ago. Within a year I had to get a Miele technician out because the temperature wasn't right, he replaced the gadget ,

Within another year he had to come back again, same problem

My cakes never looked like cakes, just slices.my lasagne sheets burned on top etc. I asked the technician about the trays that were a nightmare to clean, he said not to bother even trying, he heard from a lot of clients that it was impossible to do

So sorry I can't give you a good review, very unhappy with my oven, never again, it was expensive too!

Regards, margaretha

yes I agree.....I am 64 and now a pensioner so I have baked and used plenty of ovens in my life and now I feel like a novice.... I can't afford to replace it now so I am stuck with it and just cook everything on fan bake.....not that I do much baking now as I am put off, can't cope with the failures after being a reasonable cook for all my life.....Roasts are cooked outside in my BBQ because the surface in the oven will not wipe clean, I now use an oven cleaner. I have a miele front loader washing machine and a vacuum cleaner which I am satisfied with, its just that darn oven which is useless !
