Poor build quality oven – The door lock on the oven failed after just over 3 years of use (with door lock only being used twice in that time). Miele customer service view is that not faulty as fault didn't appear in first year. Technician said likely caused by heat exposure (it's an oven!) and replaced with "upgraded" part (why would you change the design of it was fine). Charged over £500 to fix. Bought over 15k of Miele kit for kitchen, but Miele couldn't care less.

Whilst it does a good job, Miele is meant to be a quality product and last more than 3 years. Would touch another Miele product again.

Very sleek looking, but the M Touch interface slows you down – This oven looks great, although I bought the grey to match my stainless appliances, which was a mistake (it doesn’t come close to matching), but still looks very swarve. This oven could be excellent if Miele would update the interface to be less laggy/buggy. A couple examples are when you’re setting a normal oven program Fan Plus, you enter this mode, and they have Apple iOS style tumblers to set temperature and time. These feel very awkward on the wall and slow to set. Often I accidentally swipe over the back sensor scrolling up the program timer, and have to start all over again. Also these tumblers have ‘animations’ built in where you must wait for the tumbler to stop moving, or the time will be discarded. If you tap the tumbler to bring up a keypad and type the time, when you press OK, the tumbler starts animating (why?) and you can’t quickly proceed, and have to wait for the tumbler to stop moving. These are small-ish delays, but make the experience feel cheap and clunky for me. I wish there was an additional setting to use the keypad by default instead of the tumblers.

Quite often when I press ok/next the lag from the oven progressing makes me think it missed the tap, so I tap again, only for the screen to suddenly update, and my tap hits the finish button instead, making me need to restart the program all over (it defaults the program and you must re-specify your temp/time again).

I set the interior light to be always on during a program, however at the end of a program this turns off. And because the door has opened itself for ‘rapid cooling’ the interior light stays off, even when you open the door to remove the food (normally the light comes on when you open the door, but it doesn’t seem to detect this while rapid cooling).

Also, when the oven is in deep sleep mode, if you open the door, you hear some relays click as it wakes up, but the oven light doesn’t turn on as you would expect. You have to close the door again and reopen. This is very clunky and feels stupid and half baked.

Also the Miele app end of program notifications work approx 1 in 10 times on your phone. This was a key feature I wanted, and it’s horribly unreliable (I can always connect to the oven in the app, so there doesn’t seem to be a connection problem, just a Miele problem).

I haven’t tried the steam / moisture plus feature or the temperature probe.

This oven could be quite excellent, but the interface seems designed for those who like to fuddy-duddy around. I expect to be able to start a basic oven session in similar time to a conventional dial oven, but it takes 2-3 times longer with this oven.

I bought this from the outlet centre sight unseen for a 20% discount (Covid), where they told me it was brand new, just a display. It arrived however with a chip on the inside enamel which I was unimpressed by, and the outlet were dismissive of this and told me I should have inspected it first. Perhaps this is true, but for an oven at this price point, and the company being Miele, I didn’t expect the omission of damage to the oven to make a sale.

The lack of knobs make the oven face a breeze to clean. I tried the pyro function (low soiling mode) and it did a fairly good job at getting butter splatters off from a cookie baking session. I tried cleaning with Sellys oven cleaner for an hour and a half to avoid using this function but you must remove the cleaner every 10 mins as per Miele instructions. And I could not remove the spots, but the pyro function did. Note: apparently the pyro function ruins the oven controller electronics over time according to Miele technicians.

The built in recipe functions are a gimmick in my opinion, they’re cool to show your friends what it can do, but I have never once used them. They should integrate these with the app so you can buy required ingredients etc.

The oven temperature seems accurate, and it warms up to 180C in about 6 minutes with the rapid heat function enabled, which is quite good. I don’t find there’s any hot spots and so don’t need to rotate cakes to cook evenly. Another tick.

The colour touch screen is under-utilised. Every icon is monochrome, and there’s nearly no colour used except black, white and orange. Also there’s a black UI mode, a white UI mode, but no grey mode to suit the grey models (not a big deal). This could easily be a black and white cheap display and almost be unnoticeably different.

Honestly if you have $8,000 burning a hole in your pocket, go for it, but it feels like the joke is on you with the interface. Other ovens are offering almost identical features for less than half the price, and I would avoid another Miele M touch oven because of the interface. I would buy another Miele oven, but probably the most basic one that supports pyro, as the knob interface is underrated. All the nice features seem half baked in the upmarket models. It’s so quick and easy to kick off an oven session with knobs vs the M Touch screen interface.

I did reach out to Miele with a list of 15 different software related frustrations but no improvements have been made over the several months following. The software version I have is 16.07.2022 and current according to the app.

Good oven however the door latch has locked twice – When the oven has worked it has done so very well (particularly the moisture roast function). However, the automatic door latch has broken twice and locked us out of opening the door each time. The first time this has happened we waited 2 months for Miele to repair (ruining our first Christmas dinner at our new house) and now it has happened again 2 months later. We are waiting for Miele to get back to us. Very frustrating
