Miele KM 7200 FR

Bad design – I had a KM6113 for 12 Years, I would have given it 5 stars. Unfortunately, it broke and would have cost more to fix than buying a new one. The KM7200FR has these problems: 1. The alert tone at maximum is very quiet and only lasts about 15 seconds. I can't hear it from another room and I am lucky to hear it accross my kitchen. My old KM6113 could… Read more
be heard from anywhere in my house and the alert continued until it you stopped it. 2. When setting a timer, either for alert or for auto power off - As soon as you touch the timer button all zones power off and stay off until about 7 seconds after you have input the timer duration. This is very annoying to have all zones turn off. 3. The large zone heats high in the very centre section and seems to only heat low in the outer sections. (Using large cast iron pot). A shallow amount of water is seen to boil rapidly only at the center, with a low simmer at the outer ring. Frying food only cooks well in the center section.
Miele support told me that the cooktop was faulty and that I should call service. Service tech told me (after going away to research) that all those items are not faults with my unit, but they are looking to Geermany to see if they can be fixed. It is a shame Miele staff don't know the products better.
Additionally, I don't like that the pan guides are very faint and difficult to see. When overshadowed from above light, and add a bit of splatter from a pan, the guides are too faint to see easily (unlike old model).
I do like the 0-9 power selections for quick change of power, and other than above items it does heat up fast and cook efficiently.
I certainly would be looking at another brand if buying again. Additionaly I find Miele's marketing with warranty to be annoying. I bought this with the standard 2 year warranty. I have subsequently seen it sold with discount and 5 or 10 year warranty offered. Stand behind your products Miele - put a standard 10 year warranty on this. I would certainly claim this with Australian Consumer Guarantee.

Fantastic Cooktop – Just had this installed this morning. Exactly what I expected. Fast and exceptional quality. Love the extra large zone. If I was cooking 2 pots of “weekly stock” I would expect the glass to heat up. I have a household of Miele appliances and the one time I had an issue they went over and above and got it sorted. If you live out west it will never… Read more
be as good as we have it in the city. I don’t often write reviews but I though that only one 2 star review was not only unfair but after reading it not the smartest. I have and will buy Miele again.
Not as advertised, whole induction cooktop gets hot – Replaced out 8yo Miele induction cooktop recently after a power surge cooked it. The KM 7200 is similar to our previous Miele induction with three plates. We found whole new cooktop and surround gets really hot after weekly stock cook up (2 pots). Much hotter and more dangerous around kids than previous induction model where only contact points… Read more
heated. Thermometer indicated control area and surrounding exceeded 60 deg Celsius thus not safe around children. I wouldn’t recommend this model. After growing up in a Miele kitchen (cabinetry and appliances) and building my own kitchen and laundry appliance collection this is the first time I have considered returning a product after one day. No satisfaction from service or Miele sales after two weeks so steer clear of this product if you have small children. Not ‘true’ induction and a drop in Miele quality.
