Does not dry properly – I purchased the T8627 clothes dryer in 2010 and have owned it since then. Totally frustrated with this dryer. It does not dry the clothes or towels properly. It continually stops and the message reads Adjust the Load. Really! That is not the case. It has recently had a new thermostat fitted and its still doesn't dry the clothes properly. I bought a second hand cheap Simpson dryer several years ago and again during the last few days of torrential rain, it works beautifully. The Simpson runs rings around the Miele dryer. Sadly I am very disappointed with this dryer. Why can't Miele make a dryer that has a personalised option: eg pick your desired heat setting, pick your time, and let the machine actually dry the clothes.

Purchased in at The Good Guys.

My first bad Miele experience – When I bought this dryer in April of 2010 it was the most expensive clothes dryer on the market. However, I bought it with the expectation that it would last 10 years+ and therefore pay for itself in terms of reduced energy cost. Unfortunately my experience matches that of a previous reviewer. After 7yrs 8 mths of use it developed a terrible, metallic grinding sound on startup and became very noisy while running. The Miele technician charged me $179, told me that it would cost around $1,400 to fix and that I would be better off buying a new one as the compressor will probably go next, and that's another $1,000+ to fix.

I spoke with Miele. The equivalent dryer in the current range is $3,900 plus another $250 for the stacking kit with shelf. They 'generously' offered me a $700 discount and would refund the $179 I paid for the service call.

Why on earth would anyone pay $3,450 ($3,900 + $250 - $700) to purchase a dryer that will most likely fall apart after only 7 years of use? It just doesn't make sense.

Avoid this Dryer – Bought this dryer about 4 years ago. No problems with it until about 6 months ago. Have just booked my third service call in six months and problem still not fixed even after spending around $1,000 in repair costs (I did not buy the extended warranty - big mistake). Very disappointing as we have a Miele washer and full Miele kitchen including built in coffee machine, and all these products have been flawless and very satisfying.

Sales person said we could expect this dryer to last 15 plus years but I doubt it. We have been using our 10 yr old Fisher and Paykel dryer in its place (this costed less than $300 and has been trouble free as opposed to $3k plus service costs for the Miele ).

Look at other dryer models and if you must purchase this, make sure you get the extended warranty otherwise it will cost you dearly. Worked well initially. Matched our Miele washer Expensive servicing costs, expensive parts and still not fixed!

Update: dryer needs to be repaired again. Terrible metallic grinding noise when switched on. So over this machine
