purchased a new Triton in 2017. My third Triton, the first purchased NEW. A small leak from an oil seal was addressed inside the the first couple of months of ownership completely satisfactorily. The cruise control never worked perfectly, but has… Read more
completely failed after 43 thousand kilometers of driving. as of this date (12 January 2026), the vehicles' total kilometers is still 44K! Australian consumer law, as confirmed by John Cadogan and The body calling itself "Fair Trading Queensland", says that the manufacturer- Mitsubishi Motors Australia, is responsible for this failure under the 'Fair life expectancy' laws that govern everything sold from washing machines to triton utes. Mitsubishi Motors Australia though do NOT have policies that allow for this law- as they tell me anyway. {5x'kind regards emails'}
They have a time warranty that has expired and "GOODWILL/out of warranty consideration" policies they say they are BOUND by? The Good will policy apparently NECISITATES i pay, no mater how long it takes, to diagnose exactly what part of the cruise control system failed. The LAW requires they have a policy to recognize that i have a failure in a machine they sold that should NOT have happened at 43 THOUSAND KILOMETERS! I have offered to pay for the diagnosis IF it is found that in fact my red sheepskin seat covers have caused the failure, and they will have the car in their custody, so they can and would hold me to it!
Turns out, there was a way around their Policy Bonds, IF they are honest brokers. I submitted the vehicle for trade-in appraisal at 2 of their dealerships. BOTH , in writing, confirmed the vehicle was 43 thousand kilometers old. It has been serviced. The cruise control does NOT work! I did not expect this would work and of course it didn't. All my Tritons have been good vehicles, but i am unable to imagine an honest reason why they don't have a policy to comply with Australian Consumer Law? i am micheal Albert Dryer
Follow-up · Q1. did the oil leak recur? That would have been part of the story if it did. Q2. What caused c.c. failure? Unknown - read the review again. Q3. trade in value. There is value and what they offered. Resale value is all i can afford to indulge and as the ute runs like new except for the C.C. it will be a wile i'd think before i find out.
2025 GLS Triton. Purchase Sept 2025. In 4 months have done 10,000kms with an average of 7.7 litres per 100kms. This includes having the car lifted 2 inches and larger AT tyres. 4,000kms of this was Cape York with tough tracks etc. Came home with no rattles or issues that required fixing. Minor dust through the rear doors. The comfort is on par/ nearly on par with my previous Ranger, fuel economy is way better for the set up. Happy to date. Show details · 1
Bought a new Mitsubishi Triton GLS Premium equivalent last year and ran into an issue that shouldn’t happen on a new vehicle. The plastic panel around the driver’s seat controls plastic trim sticks out noticeably (around 1 cm). Because of this, it caught on my clothing or maybe shoes when getting out. In my case, it snagged during normal use and… Read more
the panel came loose and broke.
I’ve never seen seat trim designed like this. trim should sits recessed, so there’s nothing to catch on.
The bigger issue is the response — the dealer declined to repair it. For a vehicle that’s only a year old, interior parts should not fail from everyday use.
The Triton itself is fine to drive, but this design choice and the lack of support after the issue occurred is disappointing.

Lil Boo, I Didn't know I needed You! – Lil Boo because she is white. But what an absolute beast! Why? We had the previous model and thought it was great! The difference is huge and we never thought it would be. It's longer not by much but enuf to second guess where I park. So I park usually where no one else does and it makes me want to park properly, even with all of the parking… Read more
sensors and cameras watching my every move.
Use: Family car, a daily run a round town, long distance driving as well as for 4x4 off road Beach camping. On the beach is where it is absolutely unstoppable and thats not even having to use all the extra functions. Airing down the tyres, shifting into "sand" mode, unlocking the wheels, not driving like a lunatic while pulling a 2.3tonne fully stocked camper is the bomb! You can't even feel the camper behind you.
Comfort: Seating is very comfortable, most especially the front. There is a warm seat function on the driver's side only..which is a shame as its great for soothing lower back issues on long journeys. The drivers seat also has electric moving functions that are brilliant and can be preset if needed. It's also a shame the passenger side doesn't have the same? Doesn't make sense as I would have paid a bit extra for them both to be the same in all aspects.
Room: Very good leg room in the front, but not so much in the back for adults, still ok though. Head room is great all round.
Sound System: AMAZING!!!
Interior: Leather upholstery with cool stitching on door trims and all seats. Usual material for everywhere else.
Fuel consumption: I have found its 12-12.5lt per 100ks around town (I am not a lead foot or an aggressive driver) Highway driving 8.8lt per 100ks. For the size of the car it's brilliant compared to our old next model - MQ was horrific, highway was high 11lt/100ks and 15lt/100ks around town so much cheaper!!!
Safety: Sticks like a brick on the road. Airbags x 6 along with awesum collision/crash avoidance stuff going on too.
Servicing: Lil Boo has literally just ticked over 6,000ks and only had her first service at 1500k. Took her for her first beach camping in that time too and ready to go again Dec 1 for a month!
Loves: How she blinks and tucks her ears (side mirrors) in when you lock her. (See Video) Keyless entry is to die for...I don't even have to get the keys out of my bag!!! Push button start is amazing...again i dont have to get the keys out of my bag hahaha. I just love the feel of the drive, it's very easy despite the size. The gear paddles are also a game changer for me they make going up and down mountains easy with out having to touch the break all the time. The display screen is amazingly bigger than the older model, easy to use and the camera resolution is very clear. The side step is at the perfect height too and for my dad who is 81yrs old and finds it difficult to get in and out I leave a fold up step for him to use...works a treat.
Dislikes: I'm not fussed about the phone connection sometimes. It won't play from one of my favourite apps but will only from another one I don't always use. Weird... But the over all connectivity is great. Sometimes the "break now" feature flashes when there is no one in front of me and there are a few other gremlins running around the system but hopefully they will iron themselves out. The gear box is clunky at times even in reverse...really not at all happy about that, but I have been told it 'should' smooth out round 15,000ks...so will be interesting to see if it does. If not it will go back in to the service centre until it's rectified!
Looks: Chunky with rounded curves, means business, kinda almost classy and sexy all in one :))
Note to self: Don't go around corners in the wet without something with a little bit of weight in the back!
**Who knew the tyre jack hides behind the back seat! Lolzzz see photo
Bought it in end of February. Love the vehicle. I wanted a vehicle with a long warranty and capped price servicing. Best vehicle I’ve bought to date. Definitely will stay with this make. And also the service guys in Aspley are awesome too. I found them helpful and accommodating.
I have experienced some discomfort during low-speed rides, and I found the air conditioning to be less effective than expected on a 30-degree day. Additionally, the back air vent seems to struggle in providing cool air. Very disappointed with purchase Show details
Best decision – Love my Ute. It takes me to work. It takes me to the beach. Froth the car, can’t fault it love the fuel range and has easy to maintain creature comforts. Show details

Overall, I think the MV Triton is an excellent update compared to the MR (which I’ve owned and loved). It’s a big step forward in a lot of areas, and I’ve driven several MV models already, as my partner worked for Mitsubishi when they launched. That said, I do wish Mitsubishi would take the next step with their vehicles and update a few things.… Read more
This is purely my personal opinion, and I understand others may disagree.
Firstly, the Driver Monitoring System (DMS). I’m not entirely sure why Mitsubishi chose to be the first major brand in Australia to introduce DMS when it isn’t even mandatory yet. I know a lot of people who would have seriously considered buying an MV Triton if it didn’t have this system. While safety is important, the DMS feels intrusive to many drivers and has unfortunately become a deal-breaker for some potential buyers.
Secondly, particularly with the GSR, I feel it misses out on a few finer luxury features — especially ones that would be relatively inexpensive for the manufacturer to include. Things like an electric passenger seat, a potential head-up display, and wireless Android Auto. The lack of wireless Android Auto, in particular, is confusing to me, as it risks losing buyers who care about that functionality and may choose another vehicle because of it.
I do plan on selling my MR, and purchasing a MV mid next year, and i hope atleast a few things can change with the car.
It’s the small details like these that can really help a vehicle stand out in such a competitive market.
Bought new in Oct 23. $45,200 with factory tow bar. Space cab, tub body , auto. Has 51 000km atm of review. Owned 4wds all my driving life of 40 years. comings of vehicle before purchase, intercooler hoses, head unit quality etc, but they were replaced by 6 mths of age with better quality aftermarket. No issues. As with all my 4wds, replaced suspension with 40mm lift from " Loaded 4wd". What a game changer especially rear, harsh initial shock of leaves gone with a much more supple comfortable ride. Best aftermarket replacement on vehicle. Vhedia head unit great system. Reports of brakes wearing premature, not with my car, pads still 2 thirds of meat left , disc's rotors no issues. This tourer car has been around Australia twice now, no issues. Negative - paint on chassis weld areas, poor, grab a can of black paint straight away before going off road as I did and also grease all uni's and suspension yourself. Read manual, alot of people think consumables are a warranty issue, there not, belts, hoses, bulbs ,tyres, brakes, wipers, paint wear etc Remember how much you paid for vehicle before you compare it to vehicles costing 8 to 20 grand more and being disappointed. It still gets you to the exact same places , sometimes more competently and with a little of the money saved put it on suspension and tyres and start grinning.

Nice Ute mostly. The seats are very comfortable and the ride is pretty good for a ute. The included tech is very good except for the driver distraction tech which is rubbish and is very very annoying, especially as it cannot actually detect if you are distracted or paying attention. to have made any difference that I am aware of) It can be turned off but not permanently which means you have turn it off each time you restart the Vehicle, this involves drilling down through the settings menu, a painful task. The ute has enough get up and go for passing on the highway and it is very good on fuel. The adblue was a bit of a concern but with a promised range of 15k's between refills, I am hoping it will be a non issue. An update; The auto stop/start feature is inconsistent in how it works, sometimes it stop/starts when you pull up in traffic and other times it doesn't. I suppose there is a reason for this, but for now I have got into the habit of switching it off every time I start the car. I do Love that you can start the car without getting and putting your foot on the brake. I am also impressed with how much room there is in the Ute tub. One issue I do have is that when you have it in 4WD there is only a small indicator on the dash letting you know, and as the 2WD indicator is right next to it, it can be easy to miss. ( There is a big icon on the screen when you first switch into 4WD but it doesn't stay there unless you change the screen views, and when you restart with the vehicle in 4WD it only has the small dashboard indicator to show that you are still in 4WD. I am finding it very easy to accessorise my MV ute as there a lot of aftermarket suppliers who support the MV model. Another update; The ride can be a bit rough on and off road which I think is acceptable for a ute with it's load carrying capacity, it can be improved though by lowering the tyre air pressure which is easy to monitor via the tyre pressure monitoring system. I read another review about the airconditioning not being that good, I think the airconditioning system is a good as, if not better that any other dual cab ute I have driven, and the rear circulation vent/fan, while a bit noisy does a great job of circulating the (already airconditioned) air around the rear seat area. (according to my backseat passengers). I will update this post on future use of this vehicle

Ok but not great. Just does the job – Have had 2023 triton brand newy for 18mths No issues done 108000kms so far Not the most comfortable ute compared to the ranger of same year and even the 2015 dmax with 400000kms is more comfortable. If I had the money I wouldn't buy another one I'd go dmax or ranger for comfort as I do alot of miles and I can tell you that the dmax and ranger are alot more comfortable
Display head unit glitching problem – Got the ute a few weeks ago and immediately had the head unit issues. Randomly glitches out, sometimes not recovering at all. Warranty not honoured – On Tuesday 19th March 2024, I had to spend $1,932.00inc to replace a split intercooler hose on my 4.5 year old Triton. A receipt for the work and associated costs was provided to Mitsubishi Motors Australia Limited (MMAL). My car is still under warranty. The work required a DPF regeneration, smoke testing, a system chemical clean, a new… Read more
intercooler hose and an oil and filter change. The work was completed by a licenced, independent diesel mechanic and the work was required to be completed immediately as my vehicle could not be driven further. My local Mitsubishi dealer couldn't fit me in and I require my vehicle for work.
This work was NOT covered under warranty. The local dealership, Camden Valley Mitsubishi, supplied the hose and at the time they had 30 hoses in stock as this is a known issue with MQ and MR Tritons. The repairer who completed the work had a second Triton (MQ model) at his workshop at the same time as mine was there with the exact same fault.
I requested MMAL to reimburse me for the costs associated with this repair. An intercooler hose should not be considered a perishable item, especially after 4 years of limited use when the vehicle has been serviced and cared for correctly.
MMAL requested to see photos of the faulty part, which of course I did not have. MMAL have now refused to reimburse me ANY of the costs involved and in a dismissive email they have told me that they consider this case closed.
I have worked in a customer service and sales capacity for 30 years and have a thorough understanding of customer and manufacturer rights and responsibilities and levels of liabilities. The position of MMAL on this matter has been disgusting and they refuse to honour their manufacturer warranty.

Don't purchase latest Triton GLX+ if you want extras such as roof racks – Very happy with the car overall although there are quite a few glitches in the software that need to be sorted out and the dealership does not seem to be able to deal with them. about roof racks for the cab and was told they would be available around October, in addition seat covers were not available. Was told by salesman would have to wait a month for canopy to be provided and it arrived 4 months later and asked to have a roof rack fitted and was told they are not available and no idea when they would be. At date of writing I have sourced seat covers from elsewhere, still do not have roof racks and no sign of one ever being available for canopy.
2016 triton mq glx+ 7.5 year review – I use the car for personal use and commuting to work, will do tip runs, cart mulch and topsoil at times and occasionally go off road. 3rd) - fixed under warranty Average suspension for heavy loads After 7 years I need to get roof and bonnet repainted (clear coat is gone in spots), always left outside in the sun tho No great at towing near max loads Fuel economy is not the best 80kg roof load capacity My Pros: Value for money, compared to others at the time 10k less but with a whole lot more plus better warranty Nice enough to drive for a ute Simple without all the tech crap Very capable for its price Goes well off road with good tyres I have a manual so no turbo lag issue (auto is not so lucky)
Over all, be realistic with you expectations, install a catch can and keep it serviced and it will be a good little ute for a very long time.
Great Ute and Value for Money – Love my MR Triton. Had it for 3 years and has done 77,000km. Hasn’t missed a beat. Easy to park around town in shopping centres etc and awesome off road on Fraser Island. Huge amount of tech as standard and great reverse camera. Love it! Show details

Shoddy workmanship – Tail lights installed upside down so trapped moisture and corroded assembly. Replaced under warranty but with inconvenience and cost to me. Paint worn off door sill after 2 years of average punter use. Normal "wear and tear" according to dealer....so every car in Australia has paint worn off after 2 years?? . Poor manufacturing and Mitsubishi doesn't want to know.!! Not impressed.. Show details

Excellent value for money – 2021 GLX model is certainly the best value for money of the vehicles in this range. Very good fuel economy, excellent comfort, great extras, pent of room. Triton value for money and reliability are unmatched in the Australian market – I have done 73,000km in my 2019 MR Triton GLS 4x4 dual cab turbo diesel. predictable. It is nimble with a tight turning circle which makes it a gem on tight offroad tracks as well as in urban use. My Triton has done everything from Cape York roads to the deep sands of Fraser Island. The build quality is great and after 70,000km everything is still sturdy and looking and functioning like new. Despite a lot of negative comments in the press about the "dated interior", I find the cabin and seating position ergonomically good and the safety features more than sufficient. The lack of adaptive cruise control is not a deal breaker for me, seeing that I don't rely on all the electronic systems to drive my car. So far I have not had a single complaint to be addressed under warranty. The Triton gets serviced every 15,000km or 12 months, whichever occurs first. Occasionally I tow a 1,700kg camper trailer and the Triton handles this with ease. TheTough Dog 300kg constant load rear leaf springs together with the Tough Dog 9-way adjustable foam cell shockers give real stability to my towing combination. The constant four wheel drive option makes for safe towing in wet and slippery conditions on bitumen as well as offroad. Many dual cab utes on the market do not have the ability to engage 4x4 mode on hard surfaces. I have fitted Falken Wild Peak AT3 tyres to the Triton and find them excellent. The tyre noise on bitumen is minimal whilst the grip on bitumen surfaces, both in wet and dry conditions, is impressive. These tyres also performed well offroad and in the sand (if deflated to about 18psi). The conclude, I regard the Triton GLS as unbeatable value for money.
Severe back pain – I never had back pain with my old car driving hundreds of kms per week. Now, just drive Triton ute double cab for a month and suddenly i woke up with sharp back pain can't move. The pain settled after 2 days in bed. I returned using my old sedan and never had the back pain anymore. Then i tried the Triton ute again and in just a week the excruciating back pain happened again. I am not using the Triton ute anymore.
These cars make oil! – Beware! Mitsubishi will deny and shrug it off but they admit they don’t have a solution!
