The moretti has very poor or no draining out of the hose - its awful – I have had my Moretti portable for 5 years. The drainage had never worked. We have to sit the airconditioner in a tub to collect the water and empty every 12 hours. can be dangerous if not emptied. Show details

Great little aircon! – Had this for over 10 years and been very pleased with its performance. Cools and dehumidifies effectively- Have to follow instructions for end of season or will leak. Replaced 2 capacitors is all. Would purchase again! Show details

Worst ever – Extremely noisy, not very cool at all. Last night it went off with a huge bang then gave up the ghost. Try to turn on and out comes up with a P2 error. Controls are easy to manage and if you just have the fan on the noise isn't too bad  Show details

Not Brilliant – I think that, given it's price, this unit could be better. It's cooling power is reasonable, given it's size. I think that a wider variation in window brackets that the device comes with would make it more versatile. The remote that the unit came with was crap quality and it broke after a couple of months of use. All in all, I think you could do… Read more

better for the price. Buying secondhand (like i did) would probably be worth it, assuming that the seller doesn't rip it off. But brand-new would be a waste of money.

Ok has a few minor issues – We live in central remote Oz and it gets fairly hot. We use this on our bedroom. Cools quite well. Its makes quite a bit of noise, especially when compressor turns on or off. The unit is quite heavy so the castors are good to move it about. The window vent is good but would be even better if it could have a quick connect on the unit, thus… Read more

leaving this big pipe behind when you have to empty the water it creates.

The fan outlet at the top also can create a bit of condensation. This water can and has made its way to the control board under the touch pad, creating a crazy tune like pushing random control buttons very fast.

My fix was to dismantle top, dry control board and place it in a plastic freezer bag and re install.

This water proofed the control board.

So far so good.

This house we are in has an evaporative cooler(swampy) and has a hard time cooling the house over summer and makes it very humid.

Having this unit in our bedroom makes for a good nights sleep.

Careful – Machine looks great, didn't get to try though.. unpacked, set up then realised window mounts far too small for any but small (i.e. 1 mtr) window.. and can't buy bigger window mounts lol.. forget it, not gonna have gaffa tape air-con. So, silly company would make product useless because won't provide larger window mounts.. also plastic outlet pipe… Read more

is v flimsy, wouldn't trust for more than summer or 2 ;), once again trying to skimp on things.. machine prob good, company bah.

Works well - with a few quibbles – I've now owned this unit for over twelve months, and almost through two summers. The unit does a reasonable job of cooling down our bedroom of 33 square metres (with high ceilings, i.e a larger volume of air). The unit specifications says it will cool up to 30 square metres. The window adapter supplied was useless for my needs, as we have french… Read more

doors, and in any case it was pretty basic for the intended use. (I made my own vent tube adapter). The unit itself has run reliably and we have only had to empty the drip tray once (obviously we don't live on the coast). The only bad points of the unit are the drains for the compressor water supply and the drip tray, both located low on the back. Also, moving the unit (which is on the heavy side, with only small castor wheels) is tricky when the water tank is full. Any sudden move will make the water slosh over the top of the internal tank, and results in a big wet patch on the carpet which may remain undetected underneath the unit. Filling can also be a challenge with relatively narrow filler hole and access flap that gets in the way. Again sloppy filling will result in a wet patch, as will over-filling. Over-filling can occur because the sight gauge on the side is hard to interpret - completely full and completely empty looks pretty much the same. Anyway a good unit. I usually run it at about 24 degrees C setting on low fan speed. Yesterday, this resulted in maintaining the bedroom at 25 - 26 degrees while the top temp outside rose to 40 - a very good result in a stone house with basic insulation under the roof with no ceiling cavity.

Great unit! – We've had our unit for 2 years and were very happy with it! It was very quiet, you can control the angle where it blows the air, you can set up the timer. Good value for the money!! It is enough to cool down our big room plus kitchen. Very easy to set up.

moretti 18000btu portable aircon – I got mine roughly 3 years ago. The first year it was working fantastic. After the first year it started to get quite noisy and you had to empty the water more often. 6 months after the warranty expired the aircon stopped producing cold air. It worked more like an air cooler. Also the unit would indicate me the water needs emptying after around 3 hours. I WOULDNT GIVE IT AWAY. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY.

Not Efficient – Bought this from Bunnings for $378 (December, 2014). After researching what I'd need for the size of the room, 12000BTU seemed appropriate. It claims to work for rooms up to 20-25 sq. metres. My loungeroom is no more than about 5m X 4m and the best I can hope for is a 1 or 2 degree drop after about an hour of operation. It's quite cool if you… Read more

stand right in front of it and lean over the vent on the top which faces upward. I wonder if this is the intended method of use. It doesn't say that in the manual. Maybe they forgot to put that in.

As previously mentioned, it has no handles and installation was problematic. I had to cut the window kit down to fit the window (average sized sash windows) and connect the outlet hose which is not very flexible and won't bend very far. The dehumidifier function has not made any difference to the muggy weather Sydney has been getting lately. Setting the temperature to cooling function on 16º does very little and setting on Auto does nothing more. Although this unit was very cheap, I got more comfort out of a conventional fan. Moretti make a wonderful fan for cooling the ceiling or any bugs that might be flying over it. Don't waste your money.

Impossible to install properly, never cooled enough and quit shortly after warranty expired – Bought it new at Bunnings for $700. Got about three years of mediocre service out of it before it became the most expensive fan I've ever had. Unpacked it and cut the window bracket to size when I found the plastic attachment that holds the exhaust hose wouldn't stay clipped together. I should've returned right then, but I didn't- wrong… Read more

decision! So I put some screws through the plastic adaptor to hold it together, then secured it to the window and attached the exhaust hose, and turned it on...only to find there was no way I could keep the hose securely attached to the adaptor! It kept popping off, spewing hot air into my room. Still determined not to return it (hot and stubborn) I wrapped a half of a roll of duct tape around the adaptor and hose, which at least held it together...and I had to replace the tape every few months as the heat from the hose would degrade it.

As far as cooling was concerned, on hot days it hardly cooled the room at all and I had to sit directly in the path of the fan to stay cool enough to work.

So less than a year after the warranty ran out, it just stopped cooling at all.

Called their number in Moretti's manual and got a friendly chap who told me that it was likely a blown compressor, and would be probably be more expensive to have fixed than it would be to- buy another one!

So now I have a $700 Moretti fan. Even though it doesn't cool any more, the fan still works. Installation difficult, never cooled room well and stopped cooling soon after warranty expired.

Very poor design, ineffective cooling – This unit claims to be designed for spaces up to 25sqm, but in my experience it struggles to cool a well insulated room of about half that size. Its louvres point almost straight up and are located on the top of the machine, meaning that the air is simply blown up, comes down, and is sucked through the intake again. Putting a fan behind it solved… Read more

this problem, however one shouldn't have to do this in order to make an air conditioner mildly effective.

On the whole I would still consider this an ineffective air conditioner as it really only takes the edge off the temperature on most occasions.

Don't waste your money on this product. reasonably affordable inefficient, ineffective.
