MSi Summit 13 AI+ Evo A2VMTG-019AU
VerifiedMPN: A2VMTG-019AU1 review
I bought my first MSI laptop (MSI GE72 2QL Apache - I7-5700HQ CPU, 119GB SSD, 1TB HDD, 16GB RAM) in 2016 at Harvey Norman for $2000 (on clearance RRP $3000 - was best spec on the market at the time) and have only now (2025) decided to upgrade as it has been an awesome laptop and still works effortlessly. I have upgraded to a brand new MSI Summit 13 Evo AI+ co-pilot laptop (with Ultra 9 CPU, 2TB SSD, 32GB RAM, 13.3" touchscreen that flips to be a tablet form with 16:10 ratio) as the MSI Apache is too old to run windows 11 and I now need portability.
Here's the link to the MSI Apache review I did several years ago: https://www.productreview.com.au/reviews/6235e96a-5a57-4a33-b255-c98b8101f874
My new MSI Summit 13 Evo AI+ co-pilot laptop (Ultra 9 CPU, 2TB SSD, 32GB RAM) is the best spec for the price I could find (on special at JB Hi-Fi for $2999, RRP $3499), which also delivers on long battery life, portability, and a touch screen. There are other comparable spec'd laptops for around the same price, but having had many different branded laptops (My job: IT Consultant), some of which did have issues, having an MSI laptop for 9 years really says something about their durability and longevity.
My MSI Apache has a 17.3" screen as I have mainly used it as a desktop PC at home, but as I now have several monitors at my home workstation, I did not need a laptop with a large screen as I wanted portability when I go into the office, not something the MSI Apache gave me, weighing in at about 2.7kg (3.5kg with power brick) compared to the MSI Summit 13 at half the weight, 1.3kg.
My new MSI Summit 13 came with an MSI Pen 2 which is easy to use and stores magnetically on the side of the laptop. Its really good for using as a pointer during a presentation, adding notes to a document or as a substitute mouse when in tablet mode.
So far there is nothing that I have done on my new MSI Summit 13 laptop that has slowed it down, from editing video, website development and surfing/browsing multiple sites at once. The colours are vivid, it connects to everything, only downside is 1 USB-A port, but simply solved with a USB hub.
Another thing I love about MSI laptops is the backlit keyboard, if you have ever tried to use a laptop in the dark without one you know what I mean.
If you want a small portable laptop with long battery life, heaps of grunt, great storage, vivid touch screen and future proofing your computer needs for the next 5 to 10 years, then the MSI Summit 13 Evo AI+ (with Ultra 9, 2TB SSD, 32GB RAM) is a a great choice.
