I will not be buying another Navman product because of the support I recieved – The battery life was terrible from day one. It randomly shut off while charging because the charger would not support the power draw, Navman asked you to precharge before long trips. The suction cup is woefully small and the unit frequently falls off the windscreen during road driving, this GPS was advertised for four wheel driving. The GPS came… Read more

with lifetime maps. Now after just stalling during the update process and going through technical support Navman has told me my device is no longer supported for updates and suggested I trade in for a new model, Unaccteptable.

This is perfect! I cannot live without it! – I have been using it for 3 years. Big screen and great lane guidance. Gps good 99% of the time. Accurate reliable maps 95% maybe because I have not updated my maps since I bought it Show details ·  1

MYESCAPE 3 – Nothing but trouble since I bought it. Freezes stops working while driving and now won't show up at all since upgrading maps. Trying to get help is hopeless. Downloaded the latest app and even that seems hopeless. Show details

No wonder its been discountinued – This phone is pathetic. The person guiding to a destination has no idea of how to get to a place . If i had not been a truck driver i would be up crap creek . They always take you the long way around and try to take you onto unsealed roads. Then the monthly update is a joke . People do not need navemans garmins or anything like it just use google… Read more

Navman Never Again – I bought a Navman My Escape III for my motor home in 2015. It worked well for a number of trips but when I went to fire it up for a recent trip it would not hold a charge and kept reverting back to the main screen then turn off. Contacted Navman who told me to post it to them with $110.00 fee (because it was out of warranty) and they would repair… Read more

and return. When they got it they rang me and said they would not repair it as the spare parts they had for this model they were keeping to service models still in warranty. If anyone thinks that a GPS should last and be fit for purpose for more than 3 years then don't buy a Navman device as they won't support their own products.

My Escape III {our fourth}. Very disappointed – Purchased 10.8.07. ok for 6 months, then, battery discharging, difficult locating, screen freezing. Now screen will only light up first page. Reported problem March 2007 & 30.10.07. received {Software Re_installation} information, {to no avail}. Now MITAC require $110 for repairs. Is this fair? since i reported problem before warranty had expired. John

Magic – Switches on and off by itself. It's black magic. Bought it about 2 years ago and have hardly used it. Wished I never had. Has a good screen but finding roads is a nightmare. I am not happy and would not trust it to find my driveway at home when I am parked in it. Will see what Navman has to say. Shall I predict the answer???????

You' have to be kidding. Navman have had the third one now over 5 weeks. I would like my money back instead of it back. Phone call tomorrow.

Piece of crap – The nav function works fine but bluetooth is useless more trouble than its worth sometimes it connects sometimes it does not. the rca connecter for reversing camera also has mind of its own, sometimes it does sometimes no go. time trying to get it working and less time concentrating on driving. The support from navman has been very poor. Looking for a new unit and it won't be from the navman stable

Piece of rubbish – 1. Did not work out of the box and had to return it. 2. Less than a year old and now it cannot pick up a signal (no, I have not changed its position in the vehicle) 3. So slow that I have already passed the turnoff when it tells me to turn.

My Escape III (our 4th Navman) - Greatly Disappointed in Performance – Bought this new Navman for our 5/6 week trip and our issues were: 1) When the unit was plugged into a power source, it showed the battery as being fully charged. When the power source was removed, the unit showed a flat battery and switched off. 2) The unit would also switch off eg after 2 hours of travel. After switching on/off etc etc… Read more

etc, it would eventually stay on. This happened whilst it was plugged into the car charger. This problem got worse during our trip.

We have uploaded a YouTube video showing the problem in real time: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OCd8Y5irUPk

Good unit but difficult to mount on windscreen – The good things with this GPS is that the maps are easy to follow even with the voice muted. Very good red light camera warning feature and traffic alerts. Although a bit annoying when it gives traffic alerts that are not on route. The alerts to let you know that a stop sign or lane merges are coming up are a bit of an overkill because if you're… Read more

driving, you should be able to see them for yourself. I like it when you first enter your destination, and it gives you four different options to choose from. Also easy to enter in a crossroads destination. However, it needs a dimmer setting for night driving though.

The biggest bugbear that I have with this unit, which decreased my rating stars on this, is that it is extremely difficult to slide the unit onto the window bracket. The difficulty seems to be that once you have slid the unit on, it is fiddly to get it to slide onto the recharger plug on the window bracket. So you have to remove the window bracket, slide the unit back on and onto the recharger plug, and then try and mount the whole lot onto the windscreen. Therein lies another problem because it is so fiddly to mount the whole lot onto the windscreen, that I seem to have damaged my arm in trying to continually press the strong lever on the window bracket into place, because you have to try and wriggle your way through the side to press it. My arm aches so much that after 2 months with this unit, I am ready to get a different one. Unfortunately, I bought this from Dick Smiths, so I can't just swop it. And when it is time to remove the unit, the easiest way is to remove the whole window bracket with the unit in it, because it doesn't slide off easily.

Don't waste your big $$ – Although maps quite accurate, slow software too often (about 1 in every 40 turns) causes Navman unit to be 70+ metres late with directions. (ie you are already past desired turn-off before it tells you to turn) Woeful full-charge battery life of perhaps 10 minutes maximum (even when unit was brand new) renders "pedestrian mode" and "find… Read more

vehicle" essentially useless. (No better when charged overnight)

Device does not 'learn' faster routes if you take a shortcut based on personal knowledge. (The FREE navigation software on my Samsung S4 phone does this seemlessly)

Voice recognition software is laughably bad and it is the default input method. You can't turn it off at all meaning extra button pushes to navigate manually to inputs and touchscreen keyboard everytime you need to add an address.

TheYouTube video below, although for another Navman model, sums up my almost identical experiences using voice control. I have never been able to enter an address successfully although I stopped trying after perhaps 10-12 attempts.

I've also tried it with numerous friends and family but nobody was ever able to enter an address successfully using speech recognition. So you can't enter instructions or addresses while driving at all.

This useless & faulty safety feature was one reason why I bought this device so is the MyEscape really "fit for purpose" according to Australian Consumer Law definitions?

At its very dimmest setting in 'nightmode' with the darkest maps the display still glares like a miniature sun making useage dangerous for night-driving on dimly lit streets. Ok when there is lots of street lighting. Annoyingly bright when in the bush with no street lighting. I put mine on the passenger seat at night and rely on it's spoken commands.

Maps occasionally vanish in patches causing mapping to oddly fail in random sectors, even metro streets. (About 4 square miles of maps suddenly vanished completely near my mother's address even after a fresh power up)

This has happened twice now.

Only fix is to connect it to a computer/laptop, delete all maps and re-install all your maps which is a fairly slow process and definitely not an option if you are miles from no-where without a laptop.

Atrocious PC and device software/interface for updates etc.

Window sucker is just okay but the mounting's electrical connection is fiddly & unreliable. Accelerate too hard though and your Navman WILL fall to the floor because of its weight.

The free navigation software with my old Samsung S4 mobile phone is miles ahead of this piece of junk and the battery lasts for over a day in navigation mode. My phone also learns and remembers faster routes if you take a short cut which is quicker, for example to by-pass numerous traffic lights.

Absolutely awful and overpriced product.

Hate it with a passion – Replaced unit under warranty because its processor is to slow, gets lost on freeway ,tells me to turn when there is no road. The route options are confusing. Lots of great features but not reliable going to take it back again. Needs max power all the time to work or the processor cant function. Navman gave me a new charger saying that was the problem. Tried to change it for a different unit but they did not want to.

Good unit – I took this GPS to NZ with me on a 3 week family campervan holiday. It performed incredibly well. We would have been lost (or divorced) without it. The only downside I came across was that it often didn't know which way to go when starting off. Once or twice, I would do as told at some effort just to be told to perform a u turn. incredible accuracy and knowledge shown by this unit out weighs the minor shortfalls. Probably saved me a few speeding tickets as well.

The unit is great for campers and caravans as you can enter the dimensions/ weights and it will miss low bridges, unsuitable roads, etc. On one occasion, Weirdly, were led a merry journey all around a city to arrive at our destination 30 metres from where we had been. Don't know why. Just laughed and got over it.

Awsome

Navman Battery woes..again – This is the second Navman MYESCAPE I have had. Had the same problem with the first unit, battery simply does not charge adequately. The unit even has a facility to be used in pedestrian mode which is laughable as with 23 hours of charge, it lasted 9 minutes until I was warned to place it on charge immediately and it shut down at 15 mins 32… Read more

seconds. The seller Harvey Norman were very helpful, no fault there, but even after calling Navman the first time, I was told at best they get 45 to 55 minutes of use on battery alone by the Navman help desk!. I never bout the unit to be used outside the vehicle, but 15 minutes is simply useless if your trying to review settings while at home. I understand it does have a 7" screen, but at least 2 hours on battery would be far more useful. (NB: seems to be only charging while the blue LED lit on/off button is on and it's because this shuts down within minutes of being connected to the charger that it doesn't last long while off change). Screen brightness has to be turned up full also while in the care...map easily washed out but bright sunlight. (after market scree hood is very effective for this.) Unit does have a lot of good features. Have a Garmin Nuvi 1450T before this. (excellent unit). The Navman..not sure yet.

Poor quality – I am so dissapointed with the Navman Escape 111. Biggest hunk of junk I have ever owned. If I had known this was such a poor quality unit I would have upgraded the head unit to a screen display with maps and reverse camera.

NAVMAN MYESCAPE 3 – I purchased a myescape 2 in June and had nothing but trouble with it; maps kept freezing, wouldn't charge, traffic notification didn't work. I sent it in for repairs, came back with all the same problems. The second time it was sent in it was replaced by a MYESCAPE 3. I have had no problems at all with the MYESCAPE 3. All those people having problems with the MYESCAPE 2 need to send it for repairs twice then it will be replaced for you.
